Any of you had any experience with jvzoo.com ?

hey Guys!

I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with JVZoo.com - Instant Commission Platform for Sellers and Affiliates

Has anyone worked with them? what fees do they charge for each sale?

I am thinking of trying them for a product launch but not sure it they are doing the great job they say they do.

Thanks in advance for any inputs.

    Hi Darkblue,

Let me share 2 things that i didn't like from JVZoo:

    1) Mailing Other Offers to > Your < Customers (the most serious thing): A friend of mine made a test sale for me and a couple of hs later forwarded me an email he got from them with an offer from their Marketplace (offer that i don't get credit for as i'm not affiliated with those products).

This is a red flag for me for 2 reasons:

    - Customers may think i'm part of the mailings. And if they think i am, they would think i
endorse the products they recommend! In fact, this was the case and my friend was about
to buy their product of the day, thinking that i was affiliated with JVZoo and recommending the
product in some way (had to tell him not to spend his money on it).

    - Good For Them, Not For You: It's a good deal for JVZoo as they're getting HOT Prospects For FREE (people who already bought a product from YOU) and they're making money by selling offers of their top converting products to them.

So they Make Money.... but YOU are NOT part of the deal (can upload other stats from a test i've made). This way Vendors are working for THEM and they are also paying for this service!

Your customers are yours. And they don't have rights to take advantage of the sales you make to start sending them other offers unless you opt for this.

One Comment: Although the checkout page has a checkbox that says....

"I would like to be notified of updates" (which is checked by default)....

...the customers may think that those updates belong to the product they are buying
    (not to the JVZoo deals).

    ================================================== =============
IMHO, i should not pay a dime to JVZoo for this. Instead, THEY should pay me
    for doing what they do.
Otherwise, i don't want them to send single offer to my
    customers.
    ================================================== =============

    2) Lack of Documentation: For example, if you plan to implement an integration with the paypal IPN system, you'll find zero documentation + you won't find a way to make test purchases (they don't have integration with the PayPal sandbox).

Almost every site has info about this: Plimus.com has good documentation and a way to make test purchases, click2sell.eu also has good documentation + a php sample file which includes all the variables the site will send to you etc etc.

JVZoo staff says that testing adaptative payments it's not easy with the PayPal sandbox. Ok, make some basic documentation!

Another thing: when making a test purchase it's obvious that you can't buy your own products through PayPal, so a good way to make a test purchase is to change the paypal mail of the vendor and enter one of some friend of you.

I did this with Click2sell.eu and everything was ok. But it's not possible with JVZ as you have to go to paypal and do the verification they require! At least should allow to send test purchases to a paypal email of their own (which could have a simple autoresponder that fwds the email it collects to the person who is buying during the test).

I know it's too early for some things but think that if you'll launch something like this, you should (at least) give some documentation of what they launch.

Support: Is 6/10. It's ok. I have to give thanks to Chad (one of their coders) because of his patience but things shouldn't work like that. With some documentation, everything should be easier.

This is my experience/review of the things i didn't like from JVZoo. Hope they change them (i think they will). By now, i pass.

    Best Regards,

    Diego.

Update 02-18-2012: There's an update from Byan Zimmerman (from JVZoo) on this here:

Basically seems that there's an undocumented way to avoid JVZoo from mailing your customers,
and the way to do this is by unchecking "make my product eligible for product of the day".

      Diego,

I've reviewed all the JV Zoo threads and this is the first I've heard of this. I was ready to give JV Zoo a try, but this is a huge turnoff. Marketing to MY customers? I suppose there is no way to turn this off, except as you said from the customers persective? And I agree, it's very deceptive to with the "future updates" box because of course the person is thinking it's referring to what they just bought.

      Marc

P.S. Have you submitted a ticket about your concern, and if so, I'd be curious about their reply...

    Hi Marc,

Currently (02-18-2012), there's no way to turn off that option from the sellers dashboard.

And i was exactly like you. In fact, i was about to move many of my products to JVZoo last week and after wasting lot of time dealing with the IPN interaction (due to their lack of documentation) i found this. Enough for me.

Ticket: No, i didn't want to waste more time. I think it looked like a promising platform but marketing my customers with other offers (and for free) it's my limit (no matter if they revert this or not).

It's ok if you're using a free service (and you accept they will sell other products to your customers) but this is not the case of course. Not a good deal for Vendors.

hmm this is interesting feedback. I've been doubtin whether to go with them or not and thus far I have only heard good things. Good to see a downside as well. Puts ur both feet back on the ground as they say.

After this "reality check" with JV Zoo I am now focused
      on RapBank.com

Been around longer, more established, and has a TON more training
and resources. Not perfect, but looks like the best of the lot so far...

What is your opinion on JVZoo's affiliate requirement of paypal verification under adaptive payment system. Is it ok to allow them access to your paypal?
