I use Xsite Pro 2 as well. You can throw up niche sites really quick with it. For those who don't know much about code like me, it's great.

It's cool. Appearance-wise you can make a similar site
in WordPress though. I cannot say whether WP is as
fast or has all the same features, but I can say that XSP2
lets me make sites that don't look lame pretty quick.

(I still build some lame-looking sites though. Just because
you have the tool doesn't mean you always use it well)

I use v2-not sure of the exact release, but it's the most current, I think. I'm still learning the ins and outs of the software, but it's very user friendly.

I am still using XSP version 1 and have built over 50 websites with it.

I do intend to upgrade (eventually) to version 2 but my to do list is very full and I am concentrating on upgrading my wordpress blogs at the moment.

I use XSitePro 2 and have just started site no. 17 using it. In fact, I've grown to like it so much that I have ceased using my previous software (FP - don't laugh

) altogether.

As a learn-by-screwing-things-up learner, I'm still discovering new things about it all the time.

I use XSP but I didn't upgrade to V2. I switched to a Mac 18 months ago and it's compatible (I don't use parallels or stuff like that) so I don't use it much anymore. I've used it once so far in 2009. Or I'll fire up the PC and use XSP but then I'll make minor edit via FTP which sorta defeats the purpose.

It's a great software for folks who aren't very techie with HTML or messing with code. Most of my niche sites now I just use Wordpress.

I build 90% of my stuff with XSPv2 but I do feel a bit like a cheater.

I should be pulling my hair out trying to get frames and divs and layers and tables and CSS properties to do what I want them to the hard way right?

I used Version 1...Upgraded to Version 2 and never regretted it.

In addition to it;'s being "easy" ... there is also an extended network of developers who sell templates and do custom work at VERY competitive prices. Never considered myself to e creative.... Now I don't have to be.

Thats a great point. The software has a great user community. I've gotten inexpensive templates, some great training resources...a user on the official forum even made me a quick video to demonstrate something I was having trouble with.

I do most of my sites with Wordpress and Dreamweaver.

I have Xsitepro version 2....latest build.

I was shocked at the indexing power of version 2, my sites or pages are spidered and indexed almost as fast as wordpress.....and faster than the dreamweaver sites I do.

Here's a though, a lot of people of doing offline stuff for brick and mortar businesses. This may be considered dirty pool by some, but if you have a client and you build, & maintain a site using Xsitepro...... they will not be able to take the site over and start editing themselves unless the have:

1. Xsitepro
2. and the .xse file

Could be a big advantage for you, the webmaster on many levels.

Any thoughts?

Scott,

You can always go to the Tools menu and select Export to FrontPage/Dreamweaver and zip that up to deliver to the client.

To the OP; Chris,

I have the latest build of V2 and I like the software. There is certainly a lot of power there.

There are still some bugs to work out of the software and updates have slowed down to a crawl so I hope they get moving on those again.

I've built several sites with it and some are doing well in the search engines so if you're thinking about picking it up, don't hesitate.

It's got a built-in ftp uploader thing. Just pop in your host's info and then press the little world icon with an arrow going up in front of it. That's the publish button and off you go!

XSitePro is probably one of the best pieces of software out there, specially for IM's.

sounds great mate, thanks for that.. I was at an IM seminar a couple of weeks ago and a lady said she had no SEO experience and ended up on Google's first page for 'home business opportunity' solely through creating her site via XSP and the SEO functions it has..

its also great to see a thread about a product that no-one has complaints about - definately going to get hold of xsp, thanks for starting the thread Chris!

I must be missing something with xsitepro.

I build all of my sites with Dreamweaver and build them to a high standard and using good, well written code.

Please can someone tell me what the fuss is with xsitepro. I mean, why use this product and not dreamweaver for example?

I looked at the site and couldn't find anything to answer this question.

Is it meant to make it easier to create a site or something?

Does it produce bloated HTML code?

Sorry for my ignorance, but I just don't know enough about what this product is meant to do compared to dreamweaver.

Yes, and I have found the secret to making nice adwords landing pages with xsite pro 2 in less than 30 minutes. Normally get an average of 7/10 OK QS. On a couple very relevant keywords, a great QS. Plus I love the easy redirect and linking features, and I never have to use FTP anymore as they have built in publishing/uploading.

Yes I am using it -latest build and I am a member of their VIP club-and there is a lot of fun involved when you do a page analysis to see where and how your site can be improved.
The Flesch Kincaid Reading Ease Test however leaves me a little disturbed.

I have used V1 for several years and just upgraded to V2 - I wouldn't be without it. It allows me to spend my time building sites rather than doing techie stuff. Highly recommended.

I do love xsitepro, but haven't yet explored the re-direct or linking features.

Also, can sites built in xsitepro easily be flipped and transferred to a new owner?

I love Xsitepro for simple content websites. The sites rank very well and you don't have to know HTML if that was an issue. Selling an xsitepro site should be the same for any other site. Just transfer the HTML files or get xsitepro to make you a frontpage version. This is possible in xsitepro 2.

Yes just as well as wordpress.

For landing pages or iFraming it is perfect.

You can flip them (create a copy in HTML by exporting the site to desktop) and they can be edited in an HTML editor or the new owner can get xsitepro.

To address your questions:

1) Dreamweaver is a well-respected program, but it is more expensive and has a steeper learning curve than XSitePro. If you're currently using Dreamweaver and are happy with it, there's probably no need to change.

2) Yes, you can use XSitePro to build good-looking and functional sites without the need to know html or other coding scripts.

3) Some purists have commented on the bloated code (although it's nowhere near FP proportions), but this will be irrelevant for the purposes of most XSitePro users.

4) Yes, you host your site on your own hosting account and, as has been mentioned, XSitePro does away with the need for an external FTP program, as you can simply upload to your host from within XSitePro.

I am not saying its bad, but sooner or later you might "grow out of it".

IMHO: Learn Wordpress - WAY better, way better ROI and long-term benefits.

I cant see me making a static site anymore which does not even have RSS feeds, thats...VERY 5+ years ago, outdated concept.

Well, actually XSP do have RSS feeds.
You can even set up a number of feeds for your site with a few clicks. Every category can have it's own feed, as well as the entire site.

How do you know that WP has a better ROI than XSP? I'd be interested in seeing those numbers.

XSP2 all the way for me.

If i want to embed a video or a mp3 on my site I just click a button and its done.If I want to add a web form of any kind I just hit a button and its done.

The SEO functions are great too.

All in all for me who doesnt know techie stuff. XSP is da bomb!!
