Hi Mark,
MemberWing has it all, but direct AWeber integration. Having said that - I'd be willing to do it for free for the next Pro customer - so it'll put me into 100% of your requirements list. Quote this thread with your order to keep me accountable

Gleb,

I've watched your MemberWing plugin for a while, knowing I had a new membership site coming. While the plugin seems very full featured, your customer service impresses me even more!

Once I have a few months of content built for my paid membership site, I'll be looking you up. How long do you need to integrate and test AWeber tie-ins?

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the great feedback on WishList Member

One quick thing to note...

There are a couple other WordPress plugins that you could use which when combined with WishList Member that easily let you protect downloadable files (PDF, MP3's etc.)

They can be found here:

BEST: WordPress › Wordpress Download Monitor WordPress Plugins

BETTER: WordPress › Drain Hole WordPress Plugins

GOOD: WordPress › Secure Files WordPress Plugins

If you have any other questions about WishList just ask because there are many Warriors using it so we can all help.

The other option is to send in a support ticket to our help desk at:
WishListProducts.com - Helpdesk

All the best.

The reason I'm going with MemberWing is because it integrates with many powerful affiliate programs. As GlobalPro mentioned above, it works with RAP (Rapid Action Profits), which allows for instant payment directly to affiliates via paypal. It also integrates with e-junkie, another great affiliate program, and many more.

Additionally, I appreciate the prompt responses offered by Gleb in this thread.

Gleb,

Why not use Paypal payment encryption (https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/we...-intro-outside) instead of normal HTML?

Paypal button encryption uses PKCS7.
See an example here:

...but has NO provision for affiliate management/processing, etc.

Encrypted buttons are only one of the options provided by Paypal, and they are better than nothing, but IPN is a much more flexible option. Also, encrypted buttons won't work at all if you want to pay instant commissions to affiliates.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I mean encrypted buttons on salespages, not for affiliate payouts...

I understood, perfectly.

...but that is still a less flexible solution.

Paypal encrypted buttons are static. With dynamically created Paypal order buttons, the merchant has more flexibility - including the ability to pay their affiliate instantly (just one option that is NOT available with Paypal encrypted buttons).

Hi Affirm758,
MemberWing has dripping content function (Gradual Content Delivery) + gives you integrated download protection + automatic replacement of premium downloadables with promotional versions of these materials for non-premium visitors. This gives you extra promotional and SEO powers this way.
See 2 of my recent articles on the subject:
1. Protecting your valuable digital property with MemberWing
2. Preventing and tracing content theft with MemberWing's TraceFusion logic

MemberWing does not integrate with GetResponse API though - at least not yet. This is a good idea though.

Hi Gleb,

How come Memberwing is limited to just 4 levels of membership? Why not allow users to create their own levels? I have lots of content that will not fit into Bronze, Silver, etc.

Gleb,
I mean the ability to protect different sections, not necessarily in a tiered way, but in parallel. So a number of categories could each have their own "level". Be separate products, basically.

Default Re: Best WordPress Membership Plug-In?

Read the Trace Fusion article.

I'm very interested in protecting the content on our pages. Sorry but I don't see that as much protection. Preventing copying and screen capture is more important than having a unique watermark. Watermarked content has to be found which is not easy behind any of the many types of 'secure' blocks.

I am not putting down your product because I haven't used it.
So I don't know if it is worth the large amount (imho) you are charging for use on a site. Further, it seems that it is only for WP. I know WP is THE thing for content delivery these days. Most people would be just fine with using an htaccess file and a nofollow with payments handled through PP or PDC or the like.

I guess I don't get the 'need' for so much tech for such a small issue.

Gislason charges huge monthly as does amember, though less.

I have been running memberships since 2005. I looked wide and deep for membership SW but everything out there is ridiculously complicated, or priced, or full of bugs and on and on, low or no support.

Finally, I realized that my temporary fix (htaccess) while I looked SW was actually the simple solution.

Why the simple works:
1. My stuff is unique and awesome which means virtually no turnover (and if somebody ever leaves, they can't come back for 2 years).
2. Simple reasonable straightforward pricing - 3 month subscription only. That means paperwork at most, only 4 times a year.
3. No affiliates to preen and stroke.
4. My subs make multiples of the $200 quarterly fee. They realize that if they share without permission, they will be found out and lose their membership - permanently.

I write close to 1,000 words per day 5 day a week. Being unique requires about 3-5 hours per day.

Not bragging, just trying to show how valued content can be protected by simply the penalty of no access.

My niches are irrelevant. Anyone can do this through becoming so valuable to another person that they sorta can't live without your _______ (fill in the blank).

I don't advertise, blog etc. I give away free info everyday. 300 to 400 uniques and hundreds of returning hits on free sites every day. A current site is on page 15 google for a third level keyword phrase. We don't care. When I open subscriptions once or twice a year, I take applications and then have a waiting list for the ones not selected.

Works for us. Try a few of these ideas if you are just starting out.

TB
P.S. I really am not thrashing your work or your software. It just seems that people always try to do the whole thing first without trying to do the simple parts first - like get a small core of rabid followers. But that takes work, time, effort and TESTing. Business on the internet is harder in many than brick and mortar business is.

Just keep persisting to persist.

I agree!

Without having used any of these membership plugins, I feel simply from customer/prospective customer interaction alone, MemberWing's customer service stands out from the rest.

I feel if I go with MemberWing and having a question or a feature to request, I will definitely be heard.

Default Re: Best WordPress Membership Plug-In?

I am looking for the best membership solution, but no luck so far. My site is going live next week, please help!

My existing WP SemiologicPro website has a lot of media content embedded in the blog posts and pages. I am talking about videos, audios, PDF files, etc. I am using 1SC and plan to have an affiliate program.

I just spent over a month setting up an aMember, but it is not an easy task. In addition, any future upgrades might override all the customizations I've made.

A few days ago I discovered a Wishlist-member plugin for WP. The sales page and videos promised an easy solution, so I jumped in.

I renamed aMember folder, changed .htaccess and followed all the instructions for setting up Wishlist product.

Nevertheless, my plugin installation has a flow - Non-members are able to do the search and find the links to all the files. Meanwhile, it is essential for my site that members have the access to all the content in the search-able way (I use Advanced Search plugin, as well as regular Search).

I went through all the Wishlist support files, videos, FAQ, but didn't find a solution.

On this forum I found a few more plugin suggestions, but I am not really into buying every available membership plugin and spend days/weeks/months testing them. I noticed that Stu suggested 3 content protecting plugins which should work with Wishlist, but they look suspicious - the BEST one has only 116 reviews (!). I am also not sure if any of them does what I need. I like a lot what I've seen on Wishlist for blog content protection, however I have to have my media content protected as well.

So, if anyone has a suggestion - please tell!

Thanks in advance,
Anjie

MemberWing offers digital content protection for members.
Even if non-members know exact link to your digital products - they still cannot access it unless they are logged and *and* are premium members.
Additionally to that instead of plainly denying access to your premium digital products for non-members - MemberWing allows you to automatically substitute "short/promo" version of materials if they try to download it.

Hey, Gleb!

Thanks a lot for the reply and links. I'd need an additional clarification though:

Re: "DCP creates a special protected “premium” directory on your hosting space where you upload your premium materials."

As my website is already set-up, I have a folder that contains all my media material. There are literally thousands of digital files that are sorted, organized and linked to in the reports, tables of contents, e-books, etc... Would I be able to protect my exact folder with my existing links, or would I have to transfer them over to that "protected premium directory" mentioned in the MemberWing? (The former would be great, the later is simply not going to work for me).

The aMember lets me to protect the directory/files/links I have.

The Wishlist just sent me an e-mail that they are in the process of developing it, but this might take another few months.

How by the way would you compare MemberWing to WishList? Can you pinpoint any major differences (and similarities)?

Hi Anjie,
Quote:
As my website is already set-up, I have a folder that contains all my media material. There are literally thousands of digital files that are sorted, organized and linked to in the reports, tables of contents, e-books, etc... Would I be able to protect my exact folder with my existing links, or would I have to transfer them over to that "protected premium directory" mentioned in the MemberWing? (The former would be great, the later is simply not going to work for me).
The links needs to be "virtual" i.e. point to non-existing physical location.
MemberWing would intercept all clicks on such links, find proper file in related real "physical" location and apply membership access logic to allow/deny access to file.
It may be possible to accomplish what you have by renaming your real physical directory so it would fall under MemberWing digital content protection. Hard to say more without studying your case.

The Wishlist just sent me an e-mail that they are in the process of developing it, but this might take another few months.
How by the way would you compare MemberWing to WishList? Can you pinpoint any major differences (and similarities)?
WishList is a decent product, supported and many people are using it and their authors are very active in internet marketing arena.
At some point I even contacted them to consider joint development of full blown solution that would be best for all worlds but it seems they were not interested.
I haven't used Wishlist personally so cannot comment on differences.

I built MemberWing because I wanted to create a membership site that would be able to rank high on search engines so I placed SEO concepts integration on high priority. Other membership softwares just plainly lock away content from everyone including search engines - and that approach was absolutely no go for me.
Digital content protection was requested by my clients so I integrated it into MemberWing.
Currently MemberWing is one step away from becoming not only membership site software but also digital product delivery platform - I just need to find time to do it all.

Gleb, if I understood you correctly, location of bronze/silver/gold/premium files should be REAL, WEB URL to the above files - FAKE. Right now I have all the media files in one REAL directory with many sub-folders. Since I have all my written content already pointing to the REAL location, I'd need to transfer all of the files somewhere else (making it REAL location) and leaving the current real location FAKE. Do you think this would work? How my files would be protected in this case?

Also, how can I use "Premium content markers" for hundreds of existing posts and pages? Manually only?

Thanks, Anjie

P.S. By the way, I just installed and uninstalled all the plugins suggested by Stu - they are junk. If someone is in my situation - don't waste your time. Bummer. I really like the Wishlist, but it looks like I might end-up back with aMember - it is very solid software, even though it is not as cute. Hopefully, when Wishlist will create content protection, they will also have an option to transfer existing paying members without much pain. Stu, any feedback?

What you may try is keep all links in posts and page the same and just rename current physical location of files to something else, such as:
/public_html/myfiles/ -> /public_html/myfiles_secret

In memberwing settings:
"Location of premium files" will be setup as '/public_html/myfiles_secret'.
"WEB URL to link to above files" will be set as 'YOUR-SITE.com/myfiles'

So all current unchanged links within posts will become "virtual" and will go through MemberWing digital content protection logic.

In case that wouldn't work for some reason you may always rename your physical 'myfiles_secret' back to 'myfiles' and so no damage is done.

Re: premium markers - yes they need to be added manually.
Hope it helps.

PS: (I am out for 4 days so couldnt reply till next week)

I think wishlist member is great. However there is one major flaw that shocked me when I first discovered it. Anyone can feel free to PM me if you want to discuss this further. I do not want to post this publicly as it has to do with security and I do not want the vulnerability to be exposed. I wrote to WL member about this and they said that they have it on their TO DO list. Maybe they fixed it by now, but not that I know of.

What do you have in the way of a content drip system? I know WLM has sequential memberships, but it's an onerous task to set up a 30-day 30-lesson membership.

Another warrior reports that there is a WP plugin that drips content better but it cost $2500. That's way out of my league, and I thought WLM did this a little (okay, a LOT) easier than reality tells me.

Thanks.

Wow, steaks are getting high!
MemberWing includes dripping content functionality as well as integration with AWeber.
So you may drip content 2 ways: yourself via your blog - or setup AWeber to automatically start delivering lessons as soon as new user is paid and joined.
All automatic.

Gleb,

Can you tell me more about the clickbank integration? I read in your user guide that if I had multiple products for sale, that I would need a separate CB account to handle the MW subscriptions. Something to do with the instant notification. Tell me more, please.

Hi Bill,
Once you setup payment integration with MemberWing - Clickbank will send payment notification about all your products to memberwing. You cannot specify with clickbank which products it should or should not send notifications for.
To avoid the issues it is better to have separate account for membership products and separate for other stuff.
I will be working to include enhancements to avoid this limitation - but it is not there yet.

Gleb- Is integrating with GetResponse anywhere in the works? Also, is this something my programmer can add himself to MemberWing (using the Get Response API)?

Thanks

I will work starting from tomorrow on integration with MailChimp.
If GetResponse API is really simple - I will consider adding that - let your programmer send me exact spec of adding new user to list. Or even better snippet of PHP code that does it. The rest I had to do myself - so the more clear the task the more chances I'll be able to add it quicker.

Having said that - MemberWing is already integrated with AWeber according to their specs.
Sincerely I am really disappointed by the responsiveness of AWeber and they way they are treating their clients and my customers.
This is the main reason I am going ahead with integration of other autoresponders.

Gleb ... since you are promoting 'MEMBER WING' so heavily, my question to you is if you have any WSO Specials with an heavy discount for the Member Wing Pro Version planned or upcoming? ... If so, you might sell a few more licenses, incl. one for me ~wink~
