Unlimited Unique Background Music For A One Time Cost Of $0.99? Why Has No-one Else Thought Of This?

So as you may already know I have a musical background. Upon hearing this however, many people often assume this to mean that I play an instrument. Now unless you count CD players and iPods, both of which I'm simply brilliant at, then the fact of the matter is that I don't play a musical instrument.

If you create videos for promotional or educational purposes you've probably figured out that they can sound a lot more professional and even keep your viewers engaged for longer if you simply add some background music. This of course can present quite the challenge.

Finding that perfect piece of music that actually compliments your video's content can be VERY frustrating and time consuming especially when you don't know where to look. And if you put out a large number of videos (or plan to) it might not be very practical to buy a different piece of stock music for every video you create.

There are of course many software tools available for multiple formats that allow you to create your own music. The problem here is usually twofold. First these programs can be pretty expensive and secondly they often come with a bit of a learning curve. When you weigh the pros and cons it just doesn't seem worth the effort.

An Excellent Solution For The Musically Untrained

I now believe I've found an incredibly simply solution to these problems for anyone who owns a newer iPod, iPhone or iPad.

I recently purchased an app from respected music production software manufacturer Propellerheads called Figure. At first it seemed unlikely that it would be very useful for anything serious but the reviews were pretty good and it was only $0.99.

Well let me tell you this little app is pretty amazing and I'm never impressed by anything!

It's basically a little beat maker. Designed for people who just want to jot down musical ideas on the go, it has a built in library of surprisingly high quality sounds. Now to be fair this isn't going to replace full blown music production software but for our purposes it doesn't need to.

If you have even the vaguest idea of what you'd like your background music to sound like then you're ready to start using Figure. It's perfect for those of us who don't have formal music training. Heck you don't even need to have any rhythm. Just a quick tap here and there and you'll have a rocking beat in less than five minutes.

And since it's an iOS app this means you can knock out a beat anytime you're sitting on the train, waiting in line at the bank or any other time you have 5 minutes to spare.

I won't bother going into the ins and outs of how to use the app here because they have tutorials on their site. Although I should add that I still haven't even watched them. I just started tinkering and figured it out on my own.

Trust me even if you're not musically inclined but you constantly need unique, high quality background music for your videos or podcasts then I highly recommend you check out Figure.

Best $0.99 I've spent in a long time.

Hope you guys find it useful.

Ricky
