I'm Going Back to Blog Commenting

This whole fallout around Google taking out BMR and everyone who relied on these sources for backlinks running scared had me hunting down power links via blog commenting again.

Found me a nice on-page true PR5 link in the fitness niche (my site is a fitness site) and me thinks that I might just invest the majority of my time with this technique again.

Sure, you have no control of the various platforms. A site could make a change in one day that would no-follow all comment links, but if you search out tons of these sites, there's no worries. Also, IP diversity is covered.

Google's much too frequent SEO changes have only helped me intensify my foray into non-search engine traffic, and I'd advise the savvy marketer to take this stand too. Google should not be the master of your career online.

Macker, what types of blogs are you commenting on? DoFollow? NoFollow? Posts with PR? Posts without PR? How many other comments are there? Are they auto approve and spammed to death, or are they quality moderated blogs with a limited # of other comments?

There's definitely a lot of variables when it comes to blog commenting.

I've just been commenting on blogs using my own new software. I don't believe in auto posting though so I make sure I place good, relevant, valuable comments in return for a backlink. A minute or so for EACH link isn't bad in my opinion.

I used to find that a lot of comments I left never got approved... maybe due to old 'inactiv' posts etc. My software has an option to find NEW posts recently indexed in Google and I've found ALL of these so far are getting approved... so that is the route I'll be going when it comes to blog commenting.

Good luck with that...blog comments have next to zero power nowadays thanks to Scrapebox. Even manual high PR comments.

Not true! blog commenting is the most effective link building technique there is...period. The problem is, there is a special way to make it count. It is called HIGH PR MANUAL BLOG COMMENTING. if it is edu or gov the better. The problem is, it is had work. You can't outsource it and auto posting is out of the question because unless the comments are relevant and very good it will not get approved. And that is where every one gets it wrong, because they use scrapebox fast comment, give it to some outsoucer with very bad english or their grandma who is going to be bored with it in 2 secs.

agreed. but how about if these HIGH PR MANUAL COMMENTS are nofollow? does it not matter as long as the blog has high PR..?

Gotta disagree. I've ranked plenty of pages pretty well with just blog comments. Granted these didn't have an extreme amount of competition.

In higher competition phrases / niches they're still a pretty strong backlinking method. (As long as you're using other methods in addition.)

They're also still one of the easier ways to get dofollow, PR1+ backlinks. As long as you're leaving quality comments.

What are you on about? Quality manual blog comments are an excellent source of backlinks.

So what's the answer guys... all over to PPC or PPV? Time for some paid strategies along those lines? Social network marketing is looking more and more attractive. Pinterest anyone?

You all should take a look at "my blog guest" it can be pricey if you outsource the content, but its a really nice guest posting community, hugely reccomend it. Also, blogging underground seems to be effective (haven't test it as much as I should have though), but im not sure how long that network will be in good shape with the search engines. The sites look like real websites and could possibly get past manual reviews, so I think it may still be safe to get links from that network (blogging underground).

Blog commenting is very effective if you think of getting backlinks to your site. involving in edu and gov sites can be another way of getting backlinks.
