I am interested in it because of the traffic part. I know how to make sites and already have the hosting. But the traffic part has not been done well. Do you think Site build it can help? The comments on it would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I think the price is to high for what you get, It was $300 for one domain when I tried it 4 years ago.

I have a site build it website. But i think its for complete newbies. I started with site build it. Now i have many websites making good revenue for me. All these websites make more than site build it. Ken Evoy the owner of site build it, is a good teacher. He teaches how to play the search engine game naturally. It is not a big secret. Ken Evoy train to make decent content and teach to make relevant back links. There is nothing special with sitesell.

    Hi,

I have an affiliate website under SBI! - Belly Button Rings Guide - Find The Best Navel Body Jewelry Online!

However, to be honest, it's NOTHING you couldn't have accomplished using XSitePro, for instance.

They have pretty much awkward web-building facilities which disallow you to change site's structure etc. - you have to remake each page separately!(I mean - the linking, sitemap etc.)

Can you imagine what it would take me know to remake all the pages now when I have 200+?

Loads of time! Having my own hosting account and XSitePro I would do it in a matter of time.

Let alone the fact you don't have FTP access...

And the traffic thing in SBI isn't magic - it's all common sense. It's just the whole community and the case studies etc. have created this 'magic' feeling.

    Hope this helps,

    Rgds,

    Robert

      • I also have a Site Build It site. The software provided is a little clunky for anyone experienced with the Internet, but for new Internet Marketers it's a great product which holds your hand through the processes of developing a profitable and long-term white hat site.

The price is about $15 a month, which is a little expensive, but there should be no need to invest in any additional products. Items such as keyword analysis and mailing software are included.

The documentation is of a high standard and there is an active support community.

As I said, I'd recommend it for beginners, or for those people looking to develop one good site. Others might find it a bit too relatively expensive, or the one domain limiting.

I bought it and found it a little difficult to use.
I wanted a system that could generate money quicker and more effectively. I inteeend to go back to it later on but right now, I am concentrting on blog marketing which can create content, drive traffic and make money faster.

The power lies in the software and marketing plan that you use.

        Best of luck

I actually started a SBI thingy few years back and the 1800 page book pretty much killed it. Evoy is a cool dude, everything he does is 100% honest and above board. For $300/year he provides lots and lots of value...

I almost can't think of a better product for newbies.

          But...

It's really hard to do. I'm glad I tried one of those before I got into hardcore SEO because doing it his way is like trowing a heavy ball in practice... when you get to the real game it's a lot easier!

I've made far more money with $9 namecheap domains and $5/month hosting with a simple wordpress blog and a few free plugins than I did with SBI.

Not saying it's a bad program... far from it! (and I have not seen it in years... maybe he's updated the thing) But when I was there it was too much hard labor with very few effective marketing and monitization techniques.

Overall I really think SBI makes the process much more complex and difficult than it has to be. But take that with a grain of salt... It's been YEARS since I used the system

          Pros:

          Great for newbies
          Fantastic instructions
          A workable, usable methodology
Makes solid, SEO friendly content sites

          Cons:

          Lots of work
          1800 pages of instructions
Does not provide enough psychological + Mechanical blueprints to really teach marketing.

            Hi,

I'm a "newbie" here - but really wanted to offer my "2 cents" on this subject.

In spring of 2007 I ran across a link to SiteBuildIt! and was very intrigued. But at that time - I had been a webmaster of my own sites since 2001, hosting on cheapie hosts, struggling with making my sites SEO'd and did have some success that took years to build and achieve. So looking at what SiteBuildIt! offered was very interesting.

I could not justify paying the $299 fee for about 6 weeks. I mean to me that was a lot of cash to spend on hosting a website. But I kept digging and reading about it. And in May 2007 I jumped in and paid the fee - and started on a venture that I'm so glad to have started!

I launched my first site - Stages in Pregnancy in June 2007. I followed the "Action Guide" which taught me how to better build my site - and how to write my content - and they provided me with the tools to build the best site I've ever had.

By September my Alexa ranking started getting way better - I brought in my first check from monetizing. I mean I built a site that was strictly information only - I put on affiliate ads - Google Adsense and ClickBank - and a few others.

By December I had earned enough money to pay myself back for my initial investment - and to pay for another year - AND to buy the 2 for 1 special - so I had 2 more SiteBuildIt! sites.

By Spring of 2008 my site had reached the top 1% of the internet with my Alexa rankings. Most all of my pages are ranked on the first page of all the major search engines. And now - my site is 15 months old - information only - and is bringing in a monthly four figure income! And all I do is write articles and place affiliate ads. But I follow the Action Guide and I use the cool tools that SiteBuildIT! offers and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that's why I'm a success.

I will never go back to cheapie hosting - and I'm not a newbie with them. I am working on my 2 new sites - and have plans for 2 more - one of which my husband plans to build and retire from his public teaching job in the near future!

SiteBuildIt! doesn't pay me to say this - and this testimony comes from my heart! I would stand on my roof and shout it out to all who are venturing into websites - both old and new - because none of my other sites that I spent years building ever had this much success - and certainly not this fast!!!!

To me - the $299 fee is a drop in the bucket now! I earn enough in one week to pay my yearly fee - and then some! I challenge anyone to give it a try - give it a year - follow the advice and the guide and utilize the tools. If you do it right - you won't be disappointed.

            Thank you!

I tried Site Build it a couple of years ago, too, and found the same things that Robert describes.

Basically, you're paying upfront for a year of web hosting, access to a site builder, and access to their forum. They teach you to build "authority sites", so if that's a business model you're interested in, it could be a useful membership for you.

But if you want to specifically learn about traffic, you might want to join a forum organized around learning traffic. For instance, wealthy affiliate teaches PPC (paid) traffic. SEOmoz teaches organic (free) traffic.

      Good luck!

I have a Site Build It site and think they are very good for beginners. I've read positive reports from experienced website builders who prefer it also. (My 14-year old is building a site now and loving it.)

The $300 yearly fee is virtually all inclusive - domain name, hosting fees, site builder, mailout manager, ezine program, all kinds of tracking, powerful keyword search tools, webFTP, RSS, blog program, link exchange program, link tracking, dead link notification, etc. Most of it is very easy to set up if not already automatic.

SBI! also has a very strong affiliate program, free ebooks with your affiliate links pre-installed, tons of marketing helps and tools and videos by the dozens that you can install on your site. They have tons of free articles and books for members on all kinds of topics. There are literally dozens of forums to deal with just about any problem you might encounter, as well as very helpful customer service. The community of users is strong, positive, and supportive.

The site building process is extremely thorough. The have an "Action Guide" on video and in print that takes you through every step of the process - all the way through monetizing the site, building your business, and making it as profitable as possible.

In addition, they have a staff of people that literally sorts through all the newest and latest techniques and programs and tricks to sort out the wheat from the chaff. And they report on those things to members regularly. They have intentionally and carefully set out to be the most complete one-stop-shop in the business and I think they've succeeded. I've seen absolutely nothing else like it anywhere.

They also have two-for-one sales a few times each year - two complete packages for the price of one.

Visit my site if you like, and click the button that says, "Build A Website" for more info.

You might not know it from this post, but I'm really NOT a fanatic about them. But I am a fan. If what they offer meets your needs, I think the whole package may be hard to beat if you try to do it on your own. I'll have to bow to more experienced website builders on that question, though.

          Hi

I'd echo what others have said about SBI being better for newbies. It was what I built my first site with, and I do think it is better for those who are new at the game. The problem when things are '[all in one' like that, is that you give up some things that you get when you get the components separately.

Like others have said, the actual site builder is cluncky, and when I was there you didn't have a cpanel type access. You give up a lot of autonomy and flexibility with your site. As far as autoresponders, if you use SBI's, then leave them, you have a problem importing your list into something like aweber (you can't bascially - any list).

There are a ton of traffic resources, that are best at what they do - SBI is not rocket science, it just has a 'mystique' generated by some very enthusastic users, whose enthusiasm is matched also by Ken's :-)

Credit where credity is due, it's good for its' market. It just doesn't sound exactly what you need.

Maybe some others have some suggestions for some traffic resources. I haven't used John Reece's, but it sounded like a good one. Maybe others have some opinions about that?

          Thanks

            Hello Jim

I've been lurking in these forums too long

Just spotted your post, and thought I'd share my take on
Site Build It! Just for the record, I joined SBI! in Jan 2004,
now in my fifth year (my second site is very nearly ready
to go live). I'm in no way a techie - I turned to the web,
and after much research, I chose SBI! to build a small
            online business.

I'll touch on some specifics, with regard to some of the
            comments made here.

As for SBI! only being for newbies. I could not find any other
company that provides a clear, detailed process integrated with
all the tools I needed to actually succeed online. It's not about
putting up a site that is just "UP." It WORKS.

To see what you really get, have a look at this site (no affiliate
            link): SBI! - Compare

Having spent a year researching an online business application, I
couldn't find an all-in-one package that came close, $ for $.

In all my time online (since 1997), I have not come across a better
training guide than the Action Guide - this leads the user from
identifying a site concept, to choosing keywords for traffic, to
building relationships with your visitors, PREselling those visitors,
and a lot more. All boiling down to succeeding.

An exercise I do every now and then, Jim, and something you may like to
try is, I compare site stats at Alexa and Compete.

For example, my site's stats are:
            Alexa: 445,392
            Compete: 500,087

As a non-techie, "typical" web user, I feel really satisfied with these
results. Similarly, my traffic has been on an upward trend EVERY year,
since I started with SBI! in 2004 (as also the income from my site).

When you consider the price of $299, keep in mind what you are
receiving: SBI! - All The Tools

Sure SBI!'s block-by-block builder is for newbies - "the training wheels" -
as it's referred to, you should be aware that it's also possible to design
your site with Dreamweaver, or any other HTML editor, and then you can
upload your own HTML pages to SBI!

            I hope this helps, Jim.

            See ya

I tried SBI when I was a complete newbie and found it useful. It was my first try at using adsense, doing affiliate marketing, even the basics such as keyword research.

I have to admit, my site failed miserably, but only because I gave up after about 2 months in search of faster ways to make money. I wouldn't call it money wasted though because I certainly learnt from the experience. From what I've seen, those who follow through with the whole process and really work at it have been very successful.

Site Sell is like getting married. If you're ready and you've done enough running around dating (buying) the next best thing, then SITE SELL is the best choice for long-term stability. Marry a fat ugly wife if you want to be happy for the rest of your life is no joke. It's true but some people just aren't ready for it. Some never are.

If you cheat, you'll get lost and just waste more money in the long run. It takes work and self-control to maintain any marriage. Older newbies make the best SBI'ers because SiteSell is boring to most young people. Some think SBI isn't challenging enough because they don't realize the real challenge is within SBI and getting to the top 3% not just page 1 on Google!! However, it is plain, simple and methodical to the point of predictable profits in a predictable amount of time. Is that boring? Knowing where you're going every day with no stress or worry?

If you're old enough to get married and handle it, then you can handle SBI. Otherwise wait until you grow up!! It's not for players either. They get banned so don't even try it. SBI runs a clean, tight ship with good results through common sense and behaving yourself. You only lose if you cheat!!

One of the newer and most powerful features of SBI is Content 2.0.

Content 2.0 s a social feature where your readers can post HTML pages of their own (each with its own URL that they can link to). If you create a tip & tricks site, a Q & A site, or even a local business directory, your readers might post THOUSANDS of pages for you - and you can automatically put AdSense ads on each one!

No blog can match that feature!

And if you have any problem with the $29.99/month price you basically get the $59/month Wordtracker service included (although you do have to pay about a nickel a search after you use up your free ones).

SBI also has one of the best affiliate programs on the Internet.

I'm currently working on a site specifically for Content 2.0. Having people write keyword-relevant content for you simply because they WANT to is something I just can't pass up!

Just when I started to think there were some bright people here in the Warrior's Forum, I get to relapse back to some of the garbage spewed in here. (of course 98% of the people in here are really bright.. I'm addressing the 2%)

I have 10 websites. Two of those websites are with SBI and the other eight I designed myself with my own hosting service and my own domain name reseller.

I've been building websites since 1997.

Nothing comes close to the performance of my 2 SBI sites. Nothing!

    "A little pricey?"

Autoresponders cost you anywhere from $17-$19 per month. Cheap hosting around $4-$5 per month and search engine submission, (well I'll let some other genius figure how much that cost per month).

I haven't even mentioned the other 41 reasons I use SBI that's included in their package.

I ain't real good at math but I believe we've already got close to the $299 per year (or $399 two site special going on right now).

Why aren't my other 8 sites with SBI?

I do have sites that require php, data bases, asp, and SBI does not have those features at this time. When SBI offers those features, all 10 of my sites will be with SBI.

But for a newbie or veteran, I've not found anything to compare to the effectiveness of SBI for the dollar spent...

Of course I've only been doing this for about 10 years and am still a rookie with only 10 sites and a blog.

Hope this helps some of you who don't have the sense God gave a second handed screwdriver.

    (edit: just kidding)

SBI was what I used for my first site, and it is my biggest success....by far. It took me a long time to build, and it was hard work, but it brings me in great money every month. I keep looking to create my own websites, using other methods, yet I still can't even come close to the success of SBI. Sure, it's a little basic and tedious, but it works if you work. Simple as that.

There are very many myths about Sitebuildit. Every other day, there is a new feature added to SBI. For those who tried the programme say one year ago, they need to know about the developments which come every day. I am just speaking as a newbie but many experts love sitebuild it. As for the price, I think it offers much more than that price, If you look at the word tracker tool alone, it is a fortune.

As a newbie, I don't think I would have made it if i had to go to different places to for different things. For experts, they don't have to use the traing wheels. They have lots of new features to design their own templates.

There is one thing I like about ken, whatever he promises, he delivers. As long as you have the BAM-Brain And Motivation, SBI has all the tools in one place and a proven system to help anyone build a profitable business.

It seems SBI could be very handy for quickly creating multiple sites in order to profit from adsense sites using fairly long tail keywords and having alot of content on your site.

However for a main business site (non-content related site) would you say SBI would really help that much in terms of driving traffic?

By the sounds of it SBI does nothing for you in terms of generating oragnic traffic for you aside from providing you with a cute keyword research tool. And even if SBI does do basic on-page SEO for you, we all know that for a main business services site in a fairly competitive market, on-page SEO wont do much at all and its rather about quality backlinks you have out there. SBI cannot help with this can it? Its purely a quick website creator and comes with hosting and a cute keyword research tool.

I stand to be created but are my assumptions here correct?

    hi,

I tried site build it about 2 years ago. I thought it did provide some good advice but i agree with daleP it doesn't really help with SEO in terms of the more profitable methods!
I also found the website designs were a bit limited in what you could do with them, however like i said that was 2 years ago so i dont know if it has changed since then!

      Hey,

I am new to the forum and whole internet marketing game. I have been considering getting a Site Build It website setup.

The other option would be to get a web developer to get a simple site up and running for me for about R5000 ($600). I come from a web dev back ground so i would do the site maintenance after the site is developed. I don't really have the time to create a site from scratch.

I have been speaking to SBI! Website owners and had a look at a few SBI! Websites. Once thing i noticed was that to get decent traffic, you would need to have a content heavy website consisting of many pages. I have also been told by a few SBI!'ers, that the more content you have the better.

With this in mind, this might be a total over kill for what my site requires. I will need maybe 5-10 (max) pages, with minimal content..the less the better!

Is it still possible to get decent traffic using SBI! with my website requirements (few pages with minimal content)?

If not, I will get my own site built.

Now..how do i go about getting decent traffic with a low budget? Maybe I should create another thread for this as I am going off the threads topic.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

        Ahoy Robbie,

Youre basically getting into the heart and mechanics of SEO here. Its an involved subject and there is just so so so much to it. What I suggest is to start reading through a few posts in the 'SEO' section if you plan on getting your hands dirty, there is plenty of good info there. Unfortunately there is no quick fix to get top rankings in google. To answer your question you can still have a 'basic' site in terms of what the user see's and uses, but then can have 'hidden' pages full of content which also branch off the site which should get googles attention. Links to these content pages could be a small list along the side of your homepage which doesnt attract too much attention (at the end of the day you want leads and for people to optin, not to be reading for hours! you are not going for adsense are you). Im not TOO clued up how to structure these content pages, all I know is that google loves content rich sites!

If that fits your business model, SBI might be ok.

I tried SBI many, many years ago, and could never justify the price, when I looked forwards a few years.

I then took the DIY approach, and started to learn Dreamweaver and Frontpage, and boy, did I battle with the software.

At the point of near meltdown, with a trail of half built sites with broken navigation behind me, I watched the launch of XSitePro.

I studied the program at length, there was a $200 investment, but I weighed up the pros and cons, and bought the program.

That day was the turning point in my Internet career, I am not joking, when I say that I had completed a full site on the first day!

I have never seen such common sense and logic built in to any web design tool. The ease of use for newbies more than equals SBI, and you only pay once.

You own your domain, host your own sites, and never give access, or control to anyone else.

Since those days, XSitePro has improved considerably, and is now on version 2, but has retained its basic, "throw up a 10 page, 5 minute site" then edit it philosophy.

Such is my appreciation for the web editor, my recommends have made me become one of XSitePro's leading affiliates, and I often work one to one with the company that produces it, Intellimon Ltd.

Would I ever use SBI again?

Only possibly as an affiliate, that is how the program became so popular, but I have no need for the site building side of SBI.

    To your success,

    Pete Lauder

I watched the Xsite video and I must say it looks impressive and pretty easy to use. Just when I thought I am finally getting the actionable knowledge I need to make a decision, something else comes along (?) that I need to consider before moving forward.

The one thing that has helped me stay on task is fellow warriors advising me to,

"Know what you want to do first and foremost......go from there."

I want: A website/blog to build brand and expertise. A place for some affiliates/banners possibly/adsense. I will sell (direct) my own products too.

I am an entreupreneur. Therefore, I do my best to minimize risk and reduce hassle factors. I must say, a one stop shop is very appealing. And while I do not mind a little work, I want the best return on my time/work as possible.

You know, there are some very brilliant people in these forums and I am honored to be amongst them while we all look to have an adventure/make great connections/and maybe pull in some extra money while we do it.

BottomLine for me I guess, is.......I do not want to have to log into 20 different tools a day to make everything work. This takes time away from writing or providing value, which is (from what I gather) the most important part of marketing your business/products. Right?

      Thanks.

I have often wondered exactly what SBI was all about. While not exactly a newbie I still look for ways to make the most money while investing the least...I am a true entreprenuer also so I value the comments made in this forum.

I also use XsitePro 2 and love it--I don't know that I would recommend for anyone not having a least a basic knowledge of domain name registration, uploading files, etc. Otherwise it has all you need to quickly build professional looking, seo websites.

By the sounds of it SBI does nothing for you in terms of generating oragnic traffic for you aside from providing you with a cute keyword research tool.
This is a total myth. SBI sites are the total authority in organic traffic. As long as you build many pages of high quality content, and you follow SBI step by step, you will get all you need

In my opinion SBI is a company who believes in values. This is proven by their well known methodology on online business development. Which is CTPM

    Content, Traffic, Pre-sell, Monetization.

I consider them among the few companies who really wants to play it clean. It is true they have a very wide array of documentation. Which is free and In my opinion necessary to aid those who really want to make it in the internet in the long run. That is actually a positive thing. Unless of course if the subscriber just wants to make some quick bucks and be done with it.

In my opinion SBI is a straight company that wants it's subscribers to succeed, not only in the short term, but in the long run.

They have a good support system which is a key element to success. They are focused on content, this is also a very positive thing. Because in the online market place the real value is in the content.

there's my .02 and I give SBI a Positive vote.

    Hi Jim,

I have had an SBI site for almost 5 years now. It is $299 a year which includes everything - and it is also an affiliate program. I have always earned more in commissions just from people visiting my site and choosing to get their own SBI site than I pay in membership costs.

SBI is my choice because I don't really want to learn a lot about html, etc.

    Hi there,

I left this thread after I saw a few replies and did not come back since I thought that was all I got.

Today, I post a new thread and got back to here with amazement.

You guys really give what I really need to know. I saw that many of SBI's sites get good Alexa ranking. Also, I saw the cons of using it at the same time.

I can not answer everybody's posts here. But I do really appreciate your sincere comments for my further decision.

    Thanks a lot.

I think its worth EVERY DIME.

Of-cource im thinking the value of your time is high... If it is, then have them build the site, and do everything else it is they do, and your set ( more or less ).

I do not have a website with them, but i have purchased there system and turned around and got my refund becuase of some other things that happend ( not with site build it ).

But Yes. Have them build everything and do everything, there stuff works.

Its a no brainer if you ask me... If they mess up, Get your money back

Although costing $300 per year, SBI! is the real deal and not just for newbies. On the face of it that sounds a lot of money, but when you analyze what's included you find that it is real value for money.

I have several sites, including one Site Build It site which outshines everything else. OK it costs more but it covers its annual fee by a wide margin every month, whereas the other sites take a lot of work and produce very little. I aim to gradually move entirely over to SBI!

What is needed on the net is more REAL websites that actually provide the information that surfers are looking for, not just clever sales pages for the 'next big thing' which get people spending money on things they don't need.

Site Build It! stays up to date and just keeps on delivering.

I think you are probably right about their over-delivery. I do not have SBI, but I have been reading their e-book from 2002, and it would suggest they tend to go to the extreme with all that they do.

If I was not so excited about my current business I most likely would join the SBI family.

I am still looking into SBI.

I will make a decision and pull the trigger when SBI has their 2fer deal.

        It's going to be either:

        1. SBI to build an authority site and Wordpress.org for a quickie niche

        Or

        2. Wordpress.org to do both

Thanks to this forum and generous warriors I have somewhat of a plan and am loaded for bear. I hope very soon I will be able to return the favor....still have alot of learning ahead of me.

        Other Misc
I do like Xsitepro; but I am a Mac user and have no intention of ever going PC.

Will probably use gatorhost with wordpress.org and plug in a nice template

Those who take time to follow the step by step guide get all they need. Most people who fail don't even follow the action guide. As for the price, I believe it is very cheap looking at what it delivers. Looking at the wordtracker tool alone, it could cost the entire subscription of sbi. It is perfect for both newbies and techs if they are keen enough to follow the system

I feel SBI's a little too much work. You could most probably be better off learning the tricks yourself and applying them.

I subscribed to SBI for 3months and cancelled my subscription as it was too consuming. The keyword research was just too much for me. Too much time taken, and well, with programs such as market samurai speeding up research. You have more time to concentrate on driving traffic.Which is what we are all after at the end of the day.

Just like any technology, SBI changees every other day. The latest addtion had been SBI2.0 and ofcourse the many other features. Will it be easier for you this time round? It depends on what was a big challenge for you. As a matter of fact, some people find it very simple, others find that it is very complicated. Edit: Sorry, the forum is acting up and eating my paragraph breaks and quote marks. They also sell coaching, and there are people who provide third-party coaching. So you can go it alone with SBI, get your site built for you, do some combo with SBI employees, do some combo with third-party vendors, or just pay for help an hour at a time if you need it. SBI provides hand-holding but is still often a bit daunting. It is to me, as a total newbie. For instance, from what I read on the forums, some people get stuck on figuring out their keywords for months. There is so much different advice on how to do that out in the world and in the SBI guides and forums too, much of it contradictory, and sorting all of it out is contingent on experience and judgment the newbie simply doesn't have yet. It's not that there are no options or opinions, but almost too many, everywhere you turn, each seeming to claim some sort of authority. And then maybe backtracking from it at the same time. ("Watch the numbers ... Don't pay too much attention to the numbers, it's not all about that! ... Hey, those aren't the numbers!&quot As a result, I'm getting an introductory set-up help package by a third-party vendor who is also one of the well known moderators at one of their forums. At a certain point you have to begin to put a value on your own time. Note: I've never built a website in my life (though I've written three of them.) Even though some coaching seems wise to get me started on the right foot, I'm hoping to learn enough over time that I can come to my next web site with much more confidence and ready-to-go speed, whether it be an SBI site or not. Regardless, though, I see my main business and best expenditure of time in providing good content, not in learning the ins and outs of SBI!. Or any other system, for that matter.. That said, I am studying a heck of a lot about building websites, like a real obsessive. Both from SBI and from the whole world of resources outside it. I'd like to build both within SBI and outside it. But first, I want to get the basics of one solid web site established. Baby steps. And I think SBI and a bit of an initial coaching package looks like a good bet to get that done. That doesn't stop me from reading like crazy about the world outside SBI.

One of SBI's biggest strengths is also it's biggest weakness. It is so comprehensive and there is so much information it can be overwhelming. For some people the whole SBI process becomes an end unto it self. They get so caught up in all that is available that they forget about making money. I came across many people who had 200 and 300 page sites who were so excited because they were finally starting to make a little money.

They tell you not to use any sources of information or advice (such as a forum like this one) other than SBI and as a result it becomes almost a cult. A lot of newbies don't know anything about the Internet other than what SBI tells them.

Definitely look into it if your new. But if you use SBI, don't become overly dependent for information on just SBI.

Every one goes through a learning curve. It depends on how long this process takes for different individuals. The good thing is, if you have managed to build 300 pages as you are learning, these pages will make for you money years and years ahead. But you are right, SBI has alot of information. Some times it can appear to be intimidaating

    yeah cool!

obviously i bought into SBI a year or so ago because i liked the idea of organig traffic and authority site...

But first thing first: Ken Evoy's teaching only are well worth the price.
The way they approach online business is defenetly a good one, ( didn't say the right one), but a very good one. If you are just starting out then check it out, it will help you undertanding better what you should produce with you internet business.
If you don't like it ask for a refund,- i did.

Knowing how to build sites isn't enough to make a fully operational online business i know that from experience.
You'll need to have a strategy from day 1, a clear idea of what to do with your business, step by step.
More over you need to know the "why" of the thing that you do online.

On those terms SBI does a great job in helping you to come up with a winning strategy, although it's a long, long journey with them before you can start up your business.

Once you come to understand the strategy you are going to apply for your business and you have a clear idea of the things that you have to do to pull it off, you can do it yourself in half the time.

For example the way they construct the site was too limiting and complicated for me so i switched to wordpress and built a little business with that. Much easier, simpler, faster. Please note that I'm not saying WP is better. I mean WP was exactly what i needed for my business at that time.

Also about Keyword research and organic traffic, you can pull it off by using free tools available around ( or by investing into some software once and for all...).
SEO is not magic and you can learn what you need quickly by looking around ( SEO forum at this site for example).

You can find pretty much everything you need online for free,or next to nothing if you know exactly what you need, why you need it and if you look around...

Anyway, if you really don't know what to do give SBI a shot and if you don't like it ask for a refund. I can assure you their customer service is top class.

I've worked with SBI for many years. It's the real deal. I've met Ken Evoy, he's the real deal too. He lives, eats, sleeps, breathes this stuff and is consumingly devoted to the success of his customers, and overdelivering value for the $299 price tag. I think his daily interaction with customers on the forums and willingness to keep adding feature after feature are what win him the really devoted fans. I wanted to address a couple of things people have mentioned in this thread:

    SBI is expensive:
Well, yes, it's more expensive than just getting a domain name and some hosting. And you could make the argument that the education you get is worth it. But let's say you know your way around building a website and affiliate marketing. Let's talk mailing lists/autoresponders, keyword research, SEO analysis, click data, and SE rank reporting. Just a domain name, hosting, and a good autoresponder for a humble 500-person mailing list will cost you as much monthly as SBI. I know because I was just tempted by XSitePro/Market Samurai/etc. so I looked into what I'd have to do to duplicate the SBI tools. Just hosting and Aweber (or any quality mailing service) and already the price tag is right up there.

Here's the thing. SBI keeps adding features without adding to the price. They just completely redesigned the keyword research tool (Brainstormer) - it's good stuff - and you can now get Adsense data right there alongside your keywords. You can check out the top 10 ranked sites for that keyword in the same tool. And I'm only touching on two features of it - there are many more. Yes, you can do some keyword research for free online - but the good tools cost money. Noble Samurai is $147, I believe, and WordTracker is $329.

The SEO tool (AnalyzeIt!) is, again, top-notch. Super-easy form builder too.

There are way too many features to list, and if you tried to duplicate it all with other, quality tools available on the web you'd be spending a LOT more per month.

    For newbies only:
Well, it's true that you can be a complete newbie with SBI and learn everything you need to know. And it's true there are limitations (no direct FTP, for instance). But you can easily bypass the online site-building tool (yes, it's clunky, but it's in the process of a complete redesign) and upload any HTML you wish. You can use all the integrated tools when you upload your own HTML (form builder, mailing manager, AnalyzeIt!, etc.). I upload my own HTML:

YOU Can Play Piano | Learn to Play Piano Today!

So, yes, the interface is different than a traditional webhost - you won't see cPanel - but you can do what you need to do! You can have subdomains and add on whatever you like: full blog software, forums, etc. - so you're not limited in functionality.

    No black-hat tactics:
You might think SBI is surrounded by "hype" - but honestly, it's one of the only systems out there where there is no upsell, and everything they teach is 100% white hat. You don't spend time learning a system, only to find that once you get to more advanced features, you'll have to pay more per month. You don't find out that once your website is successful and you're using more bandwidth, the price goes up. Your site won't get put in the Google sandbox because you're using iffy site promotion techniques.

    It's the authority-site model:
True. SBI is not about rapidly duplicating micro-niche sites. If you're interested in that, go to the War Room and get Stephen's Super Simple Blogging (I find Wordpress kind of a pain, but his course ROCKS). It's about building 300+ page sites that dominate the niche. IMO, there's no better way to build a long-term successful income than building a solid, winning niche website.

Does that have to be the only kind of website you build? Not at all. I have some Wordpress sites too. But I keep appreciating SBI and have begun building a second SBI site. It's a great investment.

As others have mentioned, the SBI community is one of the best on the web. It's a well-moderated, extremely active forum where people are committed to helping each other. There are now customer-run SBI conferences all over the world; there have been cruises; and SBI is now being taught in brick-and-mortar colleges.

I don't think there's one right tool for every person, but SBI comes close.

I haven't read every single comment in this thread -- so if it's contradictory to what other people have said, or if I'm repeating other comments, forgive me in advance.

I'll just give my 2 cents on SBI.

I bought a yearlong membership (purchased the 'product', or whatever you want to call it) about 2 years ago...and yes, I suppose it was very valuable....

...but it took me forever to get the damn thing up and rolling, the site was terribly ugly, and I had to write my ass off for a month.

They suggest you have like 300 pages or something...and although I learned a TON of valuable information that has helped me online ever since, I'm sorry...I just can't recommend that anyone would try building a profitable business with that damn stuff. Yes, they teach you the RIGHT way...but it takes forever. And it requires a solid commitment for a year to the product before I would think you can ever get a profitable return.

My time is just too scarce (and valuable) for the SBI method anymore. Outsource the building of your site to the Philippines for 50 bucks and you'll be good to go. :-)

I'm still trying to figure out why this thread suddenly jumped back to life after 6 months with a long string of posts, most of them gushing praise for this product, and a number of them reading like they were written by an ad agency copywriter.

Did SBI tell people to come here and promote them or something? Or am I the only one who is noticing this weird pattern?

        Seriously? Yikes. Suspicious much?

I was searching for something else on the forums and came across this thread. I noticed a couple of other people had posted recently and I know there's always people asking about SBI and searching for it. So I wrote a more detailed answer. There is a lot of misinformation out there about SBI.

If my post read like an ad agency copywriter, hey ho, maybe I should start marketing myself.

Maybe it looks suspicious because I just started posting here? Well, you know, I'm just starting to make decent money at this whole IM thing and finally feel like I know enough to be able to give something back. I wasn't sent by SBI. Sheesh. SBI doesn't need to send people anywhere.

If I had gushed about XSitePro, I doubt anyone would have blinked.

I searched for this thread because I wanted to know more about SBI. The sales page really hypes it up, but it sounds like you can do much of the work yourself.
What turns me off is the idea of paying $300 for its use on just one domain. You may get other services packaged in, but how reliable really are they?
The idea of someone controlling my assets also doesn't set well with me.

Robbie, instead of paying someone five and a half grand, why don't you use something free like Wordpress or Kompozer?
