Infusionsoft: Be Careful - User Experience

Hi All,

For those thinking of using Infusionsoft, I'd like to share two things...

#1: They are AWESOME.

There are tons of great things about them. To many to count. And I'm continuing to use them mostly happily.

#2: There is a serious issue to be aware of - primarily for those in Australia, but quite possibly for others too as this issue could very easily happen to people in other countries with other banks. .

Recently I've started to have various sets of payments from customers bounce. Some come through, but some do not. What we've found out is this: it's a problem having to do with Infusionsoft not pushing the CVC or CVV code from the users credit card through.

Now, it's not completely infusionsoft's fault specifically - and it is solvable.

What's happened is this: recently the Commonwealth Bank here in Australia began making it a requirement that the CVC/CVV code be pushed through. Our merchant gateway, Eway, doesn't require the CVC/CVV however. Finally, while Infusionsofts order forms may collect the CVC/CVV code when you tell it to on the backend, they only send it through when the merchant gateway requires it.

So it's a complete catch 22. Infusionsoft will only send it if Eway requires it, and Eway will only collect it if Infusionsoft sends it.

The only viable solution?

It's been made clear that Infusionsoft has to update their API to make it work.

When that will happen, they haven't been able to commit to a date. I will be sharing with them this forum post so they can update us when it has been solved.

Overall, Infusionsoft is outstanding... what you can do with the system is unbelievable (you should check out their campaign builder - no other ecommerce system compares).

So case in point: if you're looking to sign-up with Infusionsoft either make sure that a. your bank doesn't require the CVV/CVC code, or B. if the bank does require it, that your merchant gateway is 'requiring' it as well, or C. that Infusionsoft has updated here and notified us all that this issue is now SOLVED!

Infusionsofts order forms may collect the CVC/CVV code... but unless the merchant gate

URGENT UPDATE: Hi all - it turns out this is a bigger issue than even I realized at first and one that Infusionsoft will need to take care of ASAP or risk losing a lot of customers. Apparently the whole thing with the CVV and CVC codes? It's not just the Australian banks. It was recently passed down by Mastercard and Visa and is in their scheme rules. All credit card transactions around the world will start failing in the next year if the CVC and CVV code aren't passed through. This information was provided to me by Eway.

Yes Infusionsoft looks prett impressive with all its features. Would be great if they had a cost-effective "on-boarding" system in place. They seem to target small businesses that are already successful though, leaving out a huge market of potential customers. I guess they are happy with it since its how they've had their prices for years now. I just noticed in the fine-print that in addition to the monthly fee you have to spend $2k on their "quick-start services"!

Hope they get the CVV/CVC issued quickly for you.

Thank you, Sean, for pointing this out. And thanks for the mentioning how powerful and complete our software is. I'm also sorry that you had to discover this on your own.

Unfortunately, some merchant gateways change their policies in how they accept payments and specifically the fields they accept when they take payments. It appears that not everyone would be affected by this - only those who require CV2 codes from their bank and who use EWay.

We'll look into this further and see if we can address it without impacting any others who also use EWay successfully. Likewise, once I have more information, I'll post it here.

I have been using you guys for over a year now..

My ONLY gripe about infusionsoft is you can not set a subscription based product up and have paypal as a payment option for this subscription based product. While I do have a merchant account and use it for subscription based products, I would LOVE to offer paypal as an option for these subscriptions, as some feel safer using paypal to pay (I'm talking about using regular paypal, not Payflow Pro)

Hope you guys get around to implementing that, otherwise, I love Infusionsoft

Thanks for the support. We have a partner who provides a third-party service, SubscriptionBoss, which adds many new PayPal capabilities to an Infusionsoft Plus account. You can learn more about it on our Marketplace: SubscriptionBoss | Infusionsoft Marketplace.

Let me know if this helps!

JVManna - Thanks for responding. I hope you saw the update I made above in my post:

        Sean,

We're working with EWay and researching the changes we need to make in order to properly pass the CVC code to them. You're right that Australia is switching over to require all transactions to be verified with CVC codes.

However, this does not necessarily extend to all customers or all customers in Australia. For instance, we recently updated Moneris to support CVC. For many customers, they will need to confirm with their merchant account provider as to whether they will need to require CVC in their transactions.

I understand this is more than a bit frustrating. Our developers will determine the changes required and the timeframe of when it can be complete. If you can, shoot me an email and I'll make sure to let you know when we have it resolved. :-)

Did infusion ever solve this? I've had the same problem for over a year now... and I notice this thread was started a long time back.
