Obviously Google changed something again, rendering ASP non-workable.

This is one of those times when we really get to see how reliable the creator is, to provide an update ASAP.

I went to your help desk on May 03 to report that I ran multiple campaigns for 14 days and had no results.

This is the last post from your team. I posted a request for a refund on May 14th because your support team said it would be 2-3 days and I have heard nothing.

If your team cannot follow up, what do you expect me to think? Now, if you would like to be mad at me as an unhappy customer of yours fine. But why are you releasing a product that is not ready for prime time? I am not the only one to complain and you obviously have a product that has many bugs still to work out.

I also sent you a private message and you failed to respond. With this kind of lack of customer service and a product that just flat out does not work, how do you think I should respond?

Will your product ever work? Will it work one day and not the next? If Google changes things how long will your product work the next time? I am your customer and I am unhappy. It is your job to make things right and respond back in a timely manner, if you cannot fix your product and cannot maintain a high lever of customer service then just refund my money.

rhj12345, as I mentioned this is not a support forum :-) nor do I read my PM here since I almost never check the WF. Now, please be aware that this script exists for more than 2 years and is not buggy. But when Google changes things we need to update the script. It's that easy. No need to make big discussions about it. May be you could point me to a single software or script which have never been updateed and never needed to be updated :-)

the last version was released in August 2008, so more than 8 months ago. If you're not happy, simply ask for a refund for your $27. Of course it would be much easier to just install the patch that would make your script work, but I guess negativity is good to be thrown whenever it's possible. I now remember why I need 5 days to decide wether I should log in there or not :-)

Hi Ethiccash i got the same problem as Ebuyer i bought it from Barry Richardson and hadnt used it for a while but recently started to again after the domain i had it one was moved to a new server and found it wasnt working, im running version v 1.1 so if theres a later version available that would be great.

I recently thought I would use AdSpy Pro.....Long story short
it no longer works 21 days no results.

I have found that most.... not all self hosted software like this
requires ongoing upgrades and hosting changes. I paid to have
it installed but it does not work now.

What next? Do I have to pay someone to upgrade it?
My host is Hostgator.

If you had read the entire thread you would have seen that Hostgator does not allow this script. JP's a good guy and has responded numerous times on this thread. He's been putting out quality products for years and I'll continue to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I have read this thread from start to finish, I havent used ADSpy Pro, but from what I see JP seems very reasonable. I am surprised he keeps coming back, as he repeatedly states this is not ADSpy Pros support forum, go there for support, he seems much more patient than I would be under the circumstances. Being a newbie I would buy this product if somehow it could update itself, but It seems like server based software cant do that?

AdSpy Pro WILL NOT WORK on Hostgator. Period. Also, we won't trick them and change the filenames just to make it work. they don't want it, that's it. We're not into gaming them so that it works on their platform. There are just thousands of other hosts out there.

I even contacted Hostgator's CEO 2 years ago to find a workaround, and why not dedicate some servers where my customers could host their script (so that it does not alter their other accounts), but they were not opened.

But since some abused the system thinking they could run a dedi server on a $3 shared account, they took the right decision I guess. From then on, I just stopped recommending any host since it would just have been a matter of days before another recommended host got abused.

Suggestion: contact the host you want to join and tell them about adspy pro. If you're serious and want to go one step further, just get a dedicated server. ASP is cheap and if you're into PPC marketing, then the cost of a VPS or a dedi server is marginal compared to 30 clicks on any of your campaign.

that's it. It's the last time I join this discussion for that kind of issue.

Thank you for explaining that. It was just that I've never heard a clearer explanation before, until now. The thing is I don't want to jump ship with hosting or pay a double whammy for hosting.

Unless someone can tell me a sensibly priced host who accepts ASP?

ASP exhibits very annoying behavior. If anyone is using ASP, can you give me some help here?

I bought ASP a couple years ago when it first came out, but haven't used it since (I've been focusing more on SEO efforts instead of PPC). The original ASP didn't have any ads running on it. But the latest version of ASP has a banner ad at the top of every page. Annoying, but not that big of a deal.

But the worst thing is, now there is a pop-up ad that pops up every time I switch to a new section of the ASP interface. This ad is a fairly large square and covers some key areas of the screen, such as the menu and the first few lines of whatever data is being displayed.

The pop-up lasts a second or two each time, and it blocks me from quickly clicking around and doing what I need to do.

Is there a way to turn this ridiculously annoying pop-up ad off?

If I paid for ASP, why am I being bothered by pop-up ads? Worse, why am I being bothered by pop-up ads that actually block and impede user functionality?

Maybe EthicCash can chime in here.

I bought his product instead of the overpriced GoogleCashDetective (the first version) because I thought he was one of the "good guys" who doesn't try to milk his customers for all they're worth. But shoving ads down the throats of paying customers every few seconds is kind of "slimy," in my opinion.

EthicCash, methinks time for you to raise the price. Love your product. Raise the prices and clean up a few things. This product is on a par with PPC Bully minus the crazy price tag and pretty GUI (which you can do also, once you raise prices) Follow a Keyword Samurai type model and this baby will easily pay for itself.

After reading the posts, I have a feeling that the ASP has to be run on a separate system or host. Can anyone please explain to me whether it can be run on a normal PC (Windows) and what I need to run it? Thank you.

Hi everyone...

I have a problem (I guess) with my Adspy Pro. I´ve installed it ok, looks for ads, find them, works ok..but, after 7 days running and 14 ads found in a campaing and 6 ads in other campaing, I can´t see any "Profit Signal" data in that column...
I´m also receiving - with every run of the script - this message in my email:
mysite.com/public_html/Adspy/installer1.41/getads.php: Permission denied

I have to say that I add this line to my php.ini:
safe_mode = Off

...because it was giving other error, which is fixed.

But I still have not collected any "Profit Signal" data.. =(

Any suggestion?

Having read through most of this thread, I'm considering purchasing ASP. But one thing concerns me... This product came out several years ago and I haven't seen any activity in this thread for nearly a year. So I can't help but wonder, is the product still supported and regularly updated?

I purchased it about 18 months ago, installed it on a HostGator account and started collecting Google ad data. Then it stopped working. I have tried several times to get assistance from tech support without success. I've concluded, based on my experience and the comments of others in this forum, that AdSpyPro is no longer being supported. Personally, I think JP ought to charge more for the product and use the extra funds to beef up the tech support.

Finally, I received an email from JP in October 2010 saying that he was going to re-develop the product from the ground up, but have heard nothing sense.

Maybe he got tired of telling people it doesn't work on Hostgator. I mean, it has been said a dozen times, in this thread, but people still complain about it not working on Hostgator.

In today´s mail he is announcing Adspy Elite now (priced at $ 197 minus an Early Bird discount of $60) saying that he was mailing his Adspy Pro customers for an update of the old script together with download instructions.
I haven´t received such download link . Has anybody received such instructions?

Yes..received an email today with a new download link for the updated version. It also contained a link for the Elite version upgrade. It appears to be "client specific," so I'd reach out to the support team.

Never ever think of running it on a shared host, it requires good processing power and shared servers cannot give all their server resources to just 1 client.

you can easily make your PC a web server by installing WAMPP / XAMPP

Very glad AdSpy is still alive and well. And keeps being improved. That's very rare today whereby most scripts/software's shelf-life is 6-12 months. I'll be getting AdSpy Elite soon.

AdSpy Pro has always been updated in the last 4 years. Last update took a little longer since Google changed the way results were displayed 2 or 3 times while we were beta testing the updates... So we just pushed the release of the new AdSpy Pro.

AdSpy Elite is based on the same concept and will also always be updated by my company over the years.

Now, please be aware that this script exists for more than 2 years and is not buggy. But when Google changes things we need to update the script. It's that easy. No need to make big discussions about it. May be you could point me to a single software or script which have never been updateed and never needed to be updated :-) the last version was released in August 2008, so more than 8 months ago. If you're not happy, simply ask for a refund for your $27. Of course it would be much easier to just install the patch that would make your script work, but I guess negativity is good to be thrown whenever it's possible. I now remember why I need 5 days to decide wether I should log in there or not :-) JP

I am surprised he keeps coming back, as he repeatedly states this is not ADSpy Pros support forum, go there for support, he seems much more patient than I would be under the circumstances. Being a newbie I would buy this product if somehow it could update itself, but It seems like server based software cant do that?

Period. Also, we won't trick them and change the filenames just to make it work. they don't want it, that's it. We're not into gaming them so that it works on their platform. There are just thousands of other hosts out there. I even contacted Hostgator's CEO 2 years ago to find a workaround, and why not dedicate some servers where my customers could host their script (so that it does not alter their other accounts), but they were not opened. But since some abused the system thinking they could run a dedi server on a $3 shared account, they took the right decision I guess. From then on, I just stopped recommending any host since it would just have been a matter of days before another recommended host got abused. Suggestion: contact the host you want to join and tell them about adspy pro. If you're serious and want to go one step further, just get a dedicated server. ASP is cheap and if you're into PPC marketing, then the cost of a VPS or a dedi server is marginal compared to 30 clicks on any of your campaign. that's it. It's the last time I join this discussion for that kind of issue. JP

If anyone is using ASP, can you give me some help here? I bought ASP a couple years ago when it first came out, but haven't used it since (I've been focusing more on SEO efforts instead of PPC). The original ASP didn't have any ads running on it. But the latest version of ASP has a banner ad at the top of every page. Annoying, but not that big of a deal. But the worst thing is, now there is a pop-up ad that pops up every time I switch to a new section of the ASP interface. This ad is a fairly large square and covers some key areas of the screen, such as the menu and the first few lines of whatever data is being displayed. The pop-up lasts a second or two each time, and it blocks me from quickly clicking around and doing what I need to do. Is there a way to turn this ridiculously annoying pop-up ad off? If I paid for ASP, why am I being bothered by pop-up ads? Worse, why am I being bothered by pop-up ads that actually block and impede user functionality? Maybe EthicCash can chime in here. I bought his product instead of the overpriced GoogleCashDetective (the first version) because I thought he was one of the "good guys" who doesn't try to milk his customers for all they're worth. But shoving ads down the throats of paying customers every few seconds is kind of "slimy," in my opinion. Thanks anyone.

This product is on a par with PPC Bully minus the crazy price tag and pretty GUI (which you can do also, once you raise prices) Follow a Keyword Samurai type model and this baby will easily pay for itself. It was great when it worked. Until support gets on the stick, I would not suggest buying it.

I´ve installed it ok, looks for ads, find them, works ok..but, after 7 days running and 14 ads found in a campaing and 6 ads in other campaing, I can´t see any "Profit Signal" data in that column... I´m also receiving - with every run of the script - this message in my email: mysite.com/public_html/Adspy/installer1.41/getads.php: Permission denied I have to say that I add this line to my php.ini: safe_mode = Off ...because it was giving other error, which is fixed. But I still have not collected any "Profit Signal" data.. =( Any suggestion? Thanks in advance! Gerardo

I purchased it about 18 months ago, installed it on a HostGator account and started collecting Google ad data. Then it stopped working. I have tried several times to get assistance from tech support without success. I've concluded, based on my experience and the comments of others in this forum, that AdSpyPro is no longer being supported. Personally, I think JP ought to charge more for the product and use the extra funds to beef up the tech support. Finally, I received an email from JP in October 2010 saying that he was going to re-develop the product from the ground up, but have heard nothing sense.

That said, we are testing and finetuning the new version for now 3 months (remember, this works within all countries, meaning all Google datacenters). Get a box and run on it.. Never ever think of running it on a shared host, it requires good processing power and shared servers cannot give all their server resources to just 1 client. Don't want to spend money on dedicated server? Here is a solution. Last update took a little longer since Google changed the way results were displayed 2 or 3 times while we were beta testing the updates... So we just pushed the release of the new AdSpy Pro. AdSpy Elite is based on the same concept and will also always be updated by my company over the years. JP
