Sorry to be digging up an old post but I was wondering about Plimus too.

    Anyone?

    Tommy.

I'd be curious to hear people's thoughts on Plimus vs RegNow vs ShareIt as far as quality and quantity of affiliates

I sell my products on Plimus and they are very, very good when it comes to their features. I'm happy with them. They can beat CB in many things!

If you'll ask about affiliates... well, I guess this is their weak point.

But the affiliate tools are also great.

Be more specific about what you are looking for and I'll try to answer!

Check out Fastspring for digital delivery. As a software developer I hear numerous complaints about Plimus, though none of them too serious.

I've signed up with Plimus days ago. Although I have complaints about them, I think the overall experience with them will be much better than with ShareIt and 2checkout.

    Ok, the bad things first:
They do terrible things to your first couple of customers. Than you're 'verified' and the payments go more smoothly. By terrible I mean: they make a robot automatically call the phone number the customer leaves (unannounced!) as a 'verification'. If the customer, for example, buys from work and leaves a home phone - you're screwed, the payment will be probably refunded after days...

It's hard to impossible to get them on the phone. My first support ticket got answered in like 3 days (I had an urgent issue), but the next one: I emailed on SUNDAY and got a detailed response within half an hour. Go figure. Another bad thing: the available documentation is very basic. But I was able to figure everything out without any documentation (not with ShareIt and 2checkout).

What I like about them the most is their flexibility, and configurability. They have good features as well. Everything is just more logical than with other payment processors. They have a good support forum, eventually you get an answer to every question. From numerous reviews I hear they always pay on time (and there are many payment options!). I really hated when other payment processors forced me to make the payment pages exactly like they wanted. With Plimus it's not just about making a template fit your design - you have much more freedom. Here is an example of a payment page with Plimus: Automatic Article Submitter for Elite Article Marketers
They manage your affiliate program, and it's a good system too. (there is a little thing I hate about it: the page for signing up to your affiliate program doesn't work correctly in Internet Explorer, when people click the Submit button in IE nothing happens - confirmed by me, and one of my affilates).

So, that's about what I can remember. I might be switching more of my sites to Plimus.

      Milan,
You got that right.....spent a good bit of time tryng to figure out why my affiliate status wouldn't go through so I switched over to Firefox (per your recommendation) and it worked great the very next time.

      Respectfully,

Awesome review Milan, have you ever tried RegNow to compare? (obviously it seems ShareIt is pretty much unsatisfactory in most of our eyes)
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[659065].message }}
  • Profile picture of the author milan
@Dexx, I never used RegNow. I've had a very superficial look, and the interface and features were strikingly similar to ShareIt. They must've seen each other as top competitors in the past and look to each other.
I'm not saying ShareIt are bad, they are reliable, in the industry since 1996. However, if you want to adjust your sales process (or your use an API) it's quite impossible. Some "little" things annoy me. Like, I understand they want to display your name and address at the sales page, they want the sales process to be transparent. But what if you use a pen name, let's say you sell to women and need a female pen name... They have many little rules like that which mess up your sales process.

@Tim, I really need to do something about this!

They allow scumbags like RentACracker to use their services.

So they basically endorse pirating our hard work as digital info publishers.

I wouldn't do business with them.

Jason how do you know that? Can you give me their ContractID with Plimus?

I've contacted Plimus support and they said:

I doubt that the website is using the same website to process their plimus payments. Doing a google search does suggest that Plimus may be involved with their payments though. Maybe someone could do some undercover work to get the contractId that they're using.

Jason said in a private message to me they now use Paypal (not Plimus anymore). I'm expecting Jason to be consistent with his actions, and stop using Paypal now :p

Jason, you're a good guy. I apologize if you feel I was putting words in your mouth. I wrote how I understood it. I understood you wouldn't do any business with Plimus, just because one bad apple used Plimus.

To get to the point: Okay, you don't care much, but I do care. I care enough to report the issue you raised to Plimus, I got reply from Plimus within minutes that they're ready to cooperate. I tried to get a payment button/form/plimus id from rentacracker and asked you privately if you have any of their links/accounts - I don't have anything so there is no way I can ask any more action from Plimus...

I don't see Plimus endorsing piracy at all. That would also be like shooting your own foot, not to mention it would be illegal.

The thing is, at the time, they may not have even known.

Looking back on it, it seemed they were accepting payments via Paypal back then
the same way Clickbank does it now.

If it is still the case today, they still may not even know.

Check your PM, i replied to you in there too

I've used plimus in the past, and I think they are a great system, I switched away when I started using paypal for my payments, but now I know they integrated this in their system.

The problem I see with them now is that verification system which they introduced, that's just about the only reason I haven't switched back to them again.... Just as mentioned above, their system is so flexible to use, and I always wonder why they never really become so popular like 2checkout etc.

They are also very good for software products as well, as they can manage your keys

So apart from the fact that they have to verify your first few orders, I have no problems with them.

To answer the question above what is plimus?

I like to look at it as similar to 1shoppingcart but without the advanced autoresponder features. They take care of the payment processing for you, and you can customize your payment page totally

The difference is ONLY in the marketing. It seams they do not want to
do more here but rather to have a GREAT system first.
