I highly recommends hostwinds.com as i recently switched over to this guys. Their service is amazing. My site is loading at lightning fast. I am not affiliate with them in anyway but to be honest i really satisfied with them.

Their support is fantastic.. most of time available online for chat & almost instant reply on emails also. Support is major concern when we choose web host. Keep this on mind & choose wisely.

I found coupon code SharedWarrior which gives 35% recurring discount.

Hope this helps you.

I haven't also ever heard about it. Before trying any new hosts the security of your website should be first priority. I just suggest you to chose any of the #10 hosting in the market as the cost is same in newly created webhost to those good ones.

I used host the name reseller package for 6 months. Wow, where do I start... Oscar who is the owner, I think. The customer service is excellent, theyhave live chat and 24hr technical support via email which was what I wanted. However, this wasnt the problem for me, their service kept crashing all the time, and when I contacted the support team their reply was, everything is fine on our end. So I decided to take screenshots and videos of unable to access my websites and clients sites. Even after providing proof, I got the same reply most of the time.

I had enough, I had to move, so I went to hostgator. This was 4 months ago, so I don't know how they are doing right now, but this is my opinion of them.

I was with Host The Name for about a year up until this spring when their servers started failing and they had to replace them. This resulted in a week of downtime. They assured me that everything would be great moving forward but I wasn't going to take anymore risks and moved my sites. Here are some Host The Name reviews: http://www.castironhostingreview.com...me-review.html Not sure how things have been since. Maybe someone who is currently with them can comment.

I hate to be someone who says 'me too' but... me too. They seem like great people who are essentially reselling crappy service.

Host Gator sucked more of my time with high end wordpress sites so I dumped them as well - still looking for a robust service that is reseller friendly and can take wordpress sites without moaning about resources - the search continues

I also used Host The Name and found my sites were often down or slowed to a complete crawl. Not recommended.

I've used HostGator for a couple of years and had problems with them for about 3 weeks last year when all my sites got really sluggish loadtimes. I complained several times to them with no results. Eventually my sites bounced back and have been fine ever since.

Default Re: Has anyone tried Host The Name?

I've been with Hostthename for many months. I've had the same problems as you all, and what decided me to move out was this:

At the very beginning, I had no dedicated IP. I acquired one about a month after I subscribed, for $20.

Months went by. Besides the crashing, one of my pet-peeves was that they would issue an invoice an immediately send an "over due" email and put a big flashy read "Account Overdue" graphic on my member page.

I had a few discussions with Oscar (who acts here as if he is the owner but in fact seems to be the chief tech, based on 15 months of service with him), and explained to him it wasn't business like and it was pretty aggravating to be told your account was "overdue" the moment it was invoiced, ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAD A PAYPAL SUBSCRIPTION with them.

After about 4 months of this, they finally toned it down and waited all of 5 DAYS after invoicing before raising their "overdue" flags.

One year goes by. So in the Summer of 2012, I receive their overdue notice again and I figure someone must have pushed the wrong button and gone back to their old script for invoicing. I'm on vacation anyway. So I don't really mind receiving 3 emails of "account overdue" after invoicing because I checked and the Paypal payment did go through, so there must be a glitch in their script.

On the 4th day, all my sites, and all my CLIENTS' SITES were down and one could read: "This site has been suspended for non payment."

WHAT? WHAT? WHAT?

I did pay. What the heck?

As it turns out, the "overdue" notices concerned not my subscription, but the dedicated IP Address renewal. So 5 DAYS AFTER INVOICING 20$, they closed down ALL MY SITES. Not 30 days late, not 5 days late, no. 5 days after INVOICING.

I raised so much hell that morning, on their support, on the Warrior Forum (where they were promoting a new service) that I think they woke up Oscar (it was 6:30 am EST here when I found out my sites were closed) and he reinstated all my sites by 11:00 am and pushed off the payment date a couple of days for the dedicated IP to give me time to pay.

But I couldn't believe they would close down a resellers whole account for a whole big fat TWENTY DOLLARS! 5 days after invoicing. I tried to convince Oscar that this was no way to conduct business, but I didn't feel he was in agreement.

3 months later, I decided to test them, because there is no point in paying for a hosting you don't trust. So I moved all my sensitive sites/clients to another host and made a backup copy of those that remained there, and I deliberately cancelled the Paypal subscription to see how they would proceed when the payment wasn't made on schedule, and if they would shut down my account a few days after invoicing.

They did. They shut me down again 4 days after invoicing.

I told them goodbye.

I also told them that if they'd had normal business practices, I would have stayed on, but I couldn't afford their low cost hosting if I couldn't trust they wouldn't shut me down 4 days after invoicing if a snag happened with Paypal while I was on vacation, for instance.

Hope this helps others to figure out if they want to be with hostthename.com

I am with HTN since more then half a year and everything ok so far. Found an coupon here in the forum and got 50% off. Started with a business account. It was like a godaddy baby account - but much faster.

They run lite speed. I run LPN on server - worked perfectly. It do not at godaddy.

I now have a small VPS. No problem so far. I am moving more sites to HTN to balance my server at another host.

Support - it is Oscar only that have the complete know how.

Sorry to hear about shut down of accounts for a few days late payment. Absolutely right to leave if that happen. I subscribe to reduce the risk for late payment.

"Unlimited" hosting for $1.95? Sorry, I would look elsewhere. Do you have any idea how many $1.95 customers it would take to only break even on a decent server? That's not even adding a profit.

I am about to give up on Host The Name.
There support staff leave a little bit to be desired. Not sure if others have had this experience, but they treat me as if I am stupid... They always try and place the blame for the problems back on me, or wordpress or any number of things.

My experience has been my sites are unbelievably slow to load. I open a ticket and they will fix the problem, but 24 hours later the sites are super slow again. And you can make a cup of tea and let it steep for 3 minutes when you try and navigate around in the wordpress dashboard.

Just now I have had an issue where the last 3 posts on one of my sites disappeared, then all of a sudden one reappeared, then disappeared, and the answer I am getting is my wordpress database is corrupted.

I have a shared hosting plan and a SEO plan, which gives me 5 unique IP addresses - and I have had grief with both plans.

Ahh well - I suppose you get what you pay for...

Further to my previous post #13, I changed hosting and have been able to negotiate around in my wordpress dashboard quickly and for a long period of time. With the hosting we are talking about in this thread, it was painfully slow and a problem would always crop up. I heard heaps of excuses from 'our records show you are port scanning the server' to 'you haven't got the nameservers pointing to the right address - even though the site was still live and loading... I just could not get into the wordpress dashboard.

Also 3 posts from one of my websites went missing, appeared briefly, and then disappeared never to be found again. The techs came looking for a back-up of the site from me...

Overall my hosting experience has been very frustrating lately, however it looks like it has suddenly taken a turn for the better. Thank you Hostwinds.

I'm with hostthename for quite some time now, and I'm about to change the company. That's how actually I found this thread, by looking for other peoples' experiences with hostthename to see if it's just me having issues with them. My site is unbelievably slow for more than a month now and the only response I'm getting from the support is that they can load the site from their end. I also experience other technical issues on a regular basis.

Host the name had been great to me.

I've been with them for two years now with some mishaps but nothing major.

Their tech support is just great.
Prior i had hostgator for over eight year and when comes to customer service and hosting server i don't see any major different except the price.

Hi Guys
Getting a good feel for who not to use
I would add GVO to that list - nothing but trouble and they blame MY computer.
A usual excuse is your IP is blocked? WHAT?? why does that keep happening?
As usual,, no response to that.

So, who can I use that will host with max uptime and allow me to get my biz moving?

Are you sure you're not using an application that stores credentials? We see this frequently and it does cause headaches for customers. On the other hand, blocking an IP for multiple failed logins is a good security precaution to protect against brute force attempts.

A lot of times applications such as FileZilla that store login details in the quick connect list are the culprit.

Right - it could be caching bad credentials for that server, which then causes a filed login. A corrupt/expired session cookie could possibly do the same thing.

Well, you seem to have more knowledge in your pinkie, than the hundred at GVO
What could fix that? Or, work around so I can get my site working.
PS - page came up without timeout this moring - didn't change a thing!

Lol, thanks - I actually run a web hosting company & I try to offer as much "real" help & advice here on the forum as I can.

Usually a timeout indicates a blocked IP "if" the server is actually online. I would recommend not storing any cPanel or WHM details in an auto complete/login application as it can cause problems with corrupt/expired session cookies.

If you provide them with your IP address, they should be able to whitelist it depending on the firewall they're using.

I think I was with host the name for over 2 years. They were great with support but I also had a lot of issues when trying to login to my admin panels and my sites being down.

Just a while ago, I had asked for support for this several times and they suddenly suspended my account with no warning whatsoever, due to account overload, they said.

They sent me my files after a few days which I never could get to open so I had to rebuild all of my sites (actually never even got them all done) from scratch.

I begged them to let me try to fix the problem because some of my sites had been hacked and I didn't realize it for a while but I think they just didn't want to deal with me complaining about the hacking and the downtime.

So, even though I thought they were great at first, I would NOT recommend them or you should be prepared to be suspended/shut down without notice what so ever.

Well, I cannot recommend myself here since that's considered advertising. You are free to contact me at your convenience.

Regarding our site - have you tried another browser? There have not been any reports about our site being down & I am successfully browsing it in FireFox as well.

What references are you referring to? I'd be more than happy to clear anything up and answer any questions you may have.

Here is their latest problem:-

"Dear Members,

Box 2001 is undergoing emergency maintenance at this time.

We will be updating this announcement with more information as it becomes available.

The box2001 server is crashed and we have been working very hard to repair it. We have concluded that it cannot be repaired so it will be replaced with another server (happening already) and we will be updating you once that is complete.

We will be updating this announcement with more information as it becomes available.

Thank you.

Regards,

Host The Name Team"

This announcement was made on 21/02/2013, so that's five days already to replace a server. All my sites are on this box, so cannot access anything. Have a new site just loaded and really need to make some updates and changes, so it's not a great state of affairs.

Hi there,

Thanks for the compliment. We're actually a few weeks from releasing our brand new website that is much more appealing than our current one as well as revamping all of our reseller plans to include unlimited SSL Certificates, additional IP addresses, SendGrid Enterprise Mail Delivery, daily backups, free whmcs licensing, free enom domain reseller account as well as some other features.

(these plans are not on our current website yet)

If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.

Thanks,
Brent

I have moved away from host the name and the issues I was having have suddenly disappeared. I had similar issues to others which have posted here - my sites were incredibly slow to load and if you wanted to negotiate around in the wordpress dashboard - well you could make a cup of tea and come back and it was still loading.

Tech team would say it was loading fine at their end. They seemed more intent on passing on the blame than trying to understand the problem.

Just my experience - but as I have said - all issues have disappeared upon changing hosting.

Their announcement regarding Box 2001 crashed and awaiting replacement still not updated. No access to Cpanel etc.. It looks like a hosting dead duck, 16 days now and counting. I wonder what their uptime percentages look like for the year. Hostgator beckons.

In my 6 months with Host The Name, they destroyed the rankings of couple of websites. So much of down-time.... I had to abandon those projects!

I have been a happy Hostgator customer since past one and a half year. No major downtime, no billing issues and never required to contact customer support after the initial migration conversation.

I was in the same boat with them. Tons of downtime and in the final days a whole week down...
