Dreamweaver CS4 - Is it worth upgrading to?

Hello Dreamweaver users,

I am proficient in dreamweaver and have used it since version 1.

We are on a bit of a site building blitz right now and I wanted to seek opinions on whether it is worth upgrading to version 10 (Dreamweaver CS4).

I didn't realise we were so out of date. We currently use Dreamweaver MX which is version 6!!!

As I mentioned, we are all proficent with Dreamweaver and I was wondering if there are more useful time saving features in Dreamweaver CS4.

So ladies and gentlemen, what are your thoughts on getting the latest version?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions.

Thanks.

I use Dreamweaver CS3 and don't know what additional features come with 4.

Take a look at the feature set. If 4 has features that you need go for it. If not keep what ya got.

    A few considerations:
    - Are you hand coding in Dreamweaver? If so, CS2 or 3 might be enough (and the licenses are pretty cheap if you buy them legitimately).
    - What spec PC are you looking to run Dreamweaver on? CS4 is quite a jump from CS2 and 3 in terms of requirements. I've used CS3 in the past, but actually have moved away completely from Dreamweaver and use simple programs to do hand coded HTML, CSS and PHP, which all come with syntax highlighting.

I've used DW from version 2 I think. Although I'm no HTML expert
I use this to format my clients sales letters. I was using version 5
until only recently I got CS3. The real benefit I gained from this
upgrade was the automatic css file it builds for your fonts and
it can handle copy and paste from Word. (I normally went through
    FrontPage for this.)

Also my version 5 use to crash a lot especially when I would insert
    a table. This doesn't happen with CS3.

I'm sure there are a ton of other features I don't use since I just
    do simple sales letters layout.

I'm still playing with the CS4 demo. Got it about 3 weeks ago.

The other day,I had to do a forc quit on my Mac (the equivalent of an end-task in Windows), and when it came time to reopen the page I was working on, I found that I'd get a bunch of javascript errors.

Even in a blank HTML file.

Had to click the "ok" button about 5 times just to get rid of it. Also found I could copy text, and other elements in the page, but couldn't paste anything in a different html page.

Did a search for an answers at Adobe and other places online but not much help. It was best to re install Dreamweaver CS4. It rebuilt the sites information so I could continue where I left off.

Overall, it's a great webpage builder. Especially if you don't like writing your own code. Don't know a lot about it's features because that's something I'm still learning. I'm used to working in Dreamweaver MX 6.0

Thank you everyone for your replies so far.

It seems that there is no upgrade discount when changing from MX to CS4. So it is a fair old amount of money for two or three copies.

I guess I am trying to find out if the new version enhances productivity.

I read that there is now a facility to do a vertical split screen which could be useful, especially as most of us have double monitors.

Do you find there are any other useful time savers?

Used CS4. Deleted within a day. Went back to the best version you'll find: Macromedia 8.

CS4 no longer has HTML tags. All based on style sheets.

I have to agree - my opinion is DW 8 for all tasks - cs4 is just vista looking and I am old school when it comes to program layout. All that fancy graphics interface can significantly slow your computer and crash in the end.
