AdTrackz Gold vs. Demon Tracking - Need some insight before I buy

Hi all,

I'm ready to buy a self-hosted tracking solution and I've narrowed it down to AdTrackz Gold or Demon Tracking.

But, because I've never used either of these I need your insights, please let me know if you've had any issues or problems tracking specific types of campaigns, ease of use, ACCURACY and so on.

At first I thought AdTrackz may be a little more powerful, after watching a few videos of Demon Tracking I'm starting to think that might not be the case.

PS: I will be monitoring PPV, PPC and Referral traffic - conversions will include email signups and affiliate sales.

Thanks everyone!
Pete

I have demontracker and it works well for PPV.

Easy to track keywords and rotate landers.

    Only downsides:

Can only rotate 3 landers at a time.

Can only rotate 3 offers at a time.

Can be a tad tricky to implement with certain wordpress setups. (tracking squeeze pages in wordpress)

Overall it works though, there's a learning curve, but once you get it you can setup a campaign in 5-10 minutes.

Thank you Sarevok for your thoughts.

Any Adtrackz users care to add their input here? It would be very much appreciated.

Seriously? Nobody has anything to add?

There was so much hype about Demon Tracking lately I figured there had to be a good number of users already.

I bought demon tracking 5 days ago and overall it looks good, but I'm lacking further development of this product. I cannot figure out how to work this with Adwords and track the keywords. When I asked their support yesterday, they simply told me to Google it...
I'm testing free self-hosted version of Prosper202 and it really seems to me, that demon tracking is just simple "other" version of prosper202. There's much more info to be found on the Google about prosper202, but I cannot really find any hints and proper information to run demon tracking properly. Might be a good software, but lack of support and development will obviously leave it hanging in the wind just like many WSO's before :-) I'm actually thinking about possible refund, but I might give it a further testing... Hope that helps a bit.

        Hi Pete,
I've just come across this thread - so maybe you have already decided what to do?
Anyway, I checked out Demon Tracking soon after it came out - and sent them a request to explain what, if anything, their program could do that the free open source Piwik can't?
I never got a reply - so guessed the answer is not much, if anything.

Piwik is a website stats program muck like Google Analytics whereas something link Demon Tracking and Adtrackz are used to track advertising campaigns. They're different beasts and serve a different purpose.

I'm currently evaluating Ad Trackz Gold - and so far, I'm finding it hard to see what it does that Google Analytics can't do.

With GA you can create tracking links, such as:

      http://mydomain.com/landingpage.html...m_campain=XYZ& ... etc

AND you can set goals to track conversions

AND you can create tracking links on ANY domain, not just the one you install Ad Trackz Gold on (for example).

Sure, the stats are delayed by 24 hours... but I can't see what extra facilities tools such as Ad TRackz Gold give you.

I feel I must be missing something, though, because so many people use tools OTHER than Google Analytics.

      What am I missing?

Having bought Ad Trackz Gold but still using Google Analytics (GA), I would say that Alex is right.

Ad Trackz feels very rough around the edges, their manual does little to explain best practices in using their service which of course leave plenty of scope for setting things up wrongly.

It is suited best for url tracking, it does offer split testing however this is very rudimentary on the plus side it is on your site so have full control over this service.

By using Google Analytics (GA) you are relying upon a service you have no control over however GA is there primarily for their paying adsense clients and thus is not likely to be pulled, unlike many of their other free services.

Therefore even though I have purchased Ad Trackz, I may swallow my pride and learn how to do what I need with GA.

I hope that helps, the other benefit of GA is that because its the market leader, you should be able to outsource the creation of your tracking system very easily.

I haven't used Adtrackz gold - but I own and use Demon Tracking.

I think they are both very similar and do more or less the same thing. In fact, I'm having a hard time coming up with any significant differences between the two.

I think you will be fine with either product.

    Cheers,

Well, there are a dozen threads here, including this one, that say Demon Tracking has terrible-to-nonexistant support. That's a negative, unless Adtrackz also has terrible support. Any experiences with that?

      Hey zivkovicp,

I am very biased on my choice for the fact that I have only used Ad Trackz Gold.

That plugin is amazing ... it's gold

The downfall about it is that it can be a little tricky to setup, but their customer support was very helpful in assisting me quickly to get it done.

I can't believe Adtrackz Gold is still being sold to be honest? I bought it when I started to do PPC a few years back, maybe '05 it seemed to be the best available at the time. And I have to say I am quite surprised that is still being sold. I looked at the salespage and yup it's the same program.

Here is my take as a past user of Adtrackz Gold, I was very happy with it's ease of use and sure enough it help me sift through my wining and losing campaigns UNTIL Adtrackz had some sort of "brain fart" at their end and I lost a few hundred dollars on a losing campaign that wasnt getting recorded. I thought that since the software was self-hosted it was pretty safe to use BUT for some reason (at least at the time) the program has to "call home" to work properly and in my case, home wasn't answering for days.

I spoke to support, and they apologized for the problem and said it was a glitch that they were trying to work out. I totally lost confidence in the product and have since been using my own script that a friend and I developed.

I'm not sure if AG still works the same way as it did a couple of years ago but I just wanted to give a heads up since the fact that the software was dependent on its home base to be working for accuracy was never mentioned to me... and when profits and losses are concerned I like to put my trust in my own servers.

I don't know why you would use either when prosper202 has been an industry standard for years, it's free and supported by a top group of professional marketers.
Also, I don't see how some of you are comparing G Analytics with these tracking tools, they are different tools used for different things.

    My 2 cent, cheers

Romolo, may want to learn more about G.A, because it has changed quite a bit over the years. G.A can track better than ATG does from what I see. It's not just an Analytics program.

You can split test as many pages as want, set up multiple conversion goals, and tracking URL on the fly with their tool. You just plugin sources and/or variables in the fields and it'll spit out tracking links without having to set up and individual campaign.

G.A has evolved and isn't as cumbersome as it was, but I would advise people to use it over ATG. Has ATG even been upgraded in several years? I can see how affiliates may prefer P202 to GA because it may be easier to use than GA for it creates the redirects for you.

If you have more control of pages GA can give you conversion data and track a whole funnel, with a little bit of work.

If people are going to invest in a tracker, I would say CPV Lab would be at the top and recommend serious Internet Marketers to invest in it if they can.

It can track any type of campaign and you can setup some very complex tracking campaigns easily, by just choosing the appropriate tracking module and adding the pages you want to track.

I don't know of any other tracking tool that can do all it can do at t. They have continued to add upgrades and welcome suggestions from their users so they can continue to improve the software.

        Hi Bryan,

Seems like you have some experience in the field.

If I'm running in addition to CPV PPC also Mobile campaigns which would you recommend to use?

I would need the system to automatically recognize carriers, operating systems, devices etc.

        Thanks ahead

I found an other one that looks good for both Web and Mobile - imobitrax.

Self-Hosted Mobile Tracking Software - iMobiTrax

Had anyone had experience with it?

iMobitrax is exclusively for mobile traffic. It's run by the guys at IMGrind - Internet Marketing Blog | Internet Marketing Forum and it's a top shelf solution for tracking mobile traffic.

The premier solution for tracking PPC/PPV and other web conversions is CPVLab.

Prosper202 is also a good solution.

If you don't want to bother installing anything, Linktrackr is ideal.

i did buy adtrackz original a long time ago, but it is out of date and the whole site is down with no support there. http://adtrackz.com/ Jonah, do you still support your customers? if so, can i get a free upgraded version of adtrackzgold?

anyone trying bevomedia tracking system? i just signed up for an account. it seems to be a great solution by the looks of it, and from what i have heard very robust, although i am yet to really use it .also, they allow people to use it free, unless you want personal support, then its like 20 dollars a month. the support is decent. you can send an email and they reply.and the tracking program itself is kept up to date.
thats alot more than other places. thanks.

    Hey guys.

    Could someone enlighten me here?

Why would anyone buy Demon Tracking or Adtrackz when we have Prosper202, which is high-end, flexible, open source and free?

Is there anything those other guys can do that a combination of P202 & GA can not?

    Cheers,

    -Ben
