After working with GoDaddy in their Windows .net environment for a couple of years I decided to find a Linux based host. Linux seems to be the platform of choice for most IM applications. After reading several not so positive reviews about GoDaddy's Linux platform I decided to check out other host possibilities. After some research I settled on HostMonster. While new to Cpanel I am a fairly quick study in this type of technology but there were time I did have questions. I was impressed by the fact that I rarely had to wait more than a minute for a tech support person (GoDaddy could easily take 15-20 minutes of hold time). They were helpful and patient. I can not recommend their tech support enough. 24/7 US based. The thing that impressed me the most was when I recently purchased a program that needed to be hosted (see my other post on 10 Second Squeeze Page Generator). I had installed several programs successfully but when I install this program it crashed. Because the software publisher was less than helpfull I contacted Hostmonster tech support with the hope that maybe I had done something wrong. My initial contact confirmed that everything with the install seemed to be ok and he suggested that I email their script department outlining my problem. I did this and in less than an hour I had a response that they had found a bug in the script and had gotten it running. What makes this interesting is that they specifically state that they don't support third party software. In this case they did and I am very pleased with their service. They also gained a dedicated customer. If you ar looking for a host with really good tech support check out Hostmonster.com Ira |
