Reseller Hosting Package, what is it & Works?

I am thinking to start developing sites for some customers,is it a good idea to have a reseller hosting package or just let them open their own.

will i get paid commissions once i transfer over their account?

I am with 1and1 and they don't have that plan.

hostgator charges 25$,i found that expensive no?

It's a good idea to have your own reseller account since they'll probably be coming to you for support anyway, if you're creating sites for them. You may as well get paid for it, right?

If you just have them get their own hosting (through your affiliate link I presume), then you'll only get about $100 on-time fee. That's a business decision on your part.

$20-$25 for a shared hosting reseller account is pretty standard stuff.

    Hope that helps,

Exactly. Most hosting services that offer reseller hosting also offer some sort of reseller management software. I've used WHMCS in the past - works with WHM/Cpanel servers. WHMAutopilot is another one that's pretty popular. There are plenty of others too, but sometimes web hosting companies make one of them available for free or at lower cost in order to help resellers get up and running.

As for pricing, yes, you can charge whatever you want. But it's better if people can see what value they're getting for their money. Especially with sites like GoDaddy even going so far as to advertise online. You don't want to be charging someone $35 per month and have them see a GoDaddy commercial and realize they can get the EXACT SAME THING for $4.95/month. So the key is to offer more than just the "same thing". That could be done by providing better support, online marketing services, design services, etc.
