Even if someone could just let me know, if it's worth investing in the monthly subscription. Also is it worth making a Google Adwords account, because you get more results according to the training videos.

i just got it a few days ago and haven't given it a good run yet. one thing i did notice is that it may not be able to show your ranking on youtube. that would have been great since marketing is moving in that direction. another thing is that they dont show ranking beyond 500 which is also not so great.

doesnt hurt making a google adword account. you want google to tell you what keywords are hot or not since they are the ones doing the ranking. other people opinions on what key words is best don't dont mean much if google things other wise

I have created an Adwords account, I have no problems using it or anything. I only really need to find out if having the upgraded feature of Platinum is really needed.

It's just you can only get the over all accurate score, based on the keyword SEO competition if you have that feature you see.

I have had it for months now and have liked it very much. It is very simple and to the point.

I never upgraded but when they were in beta for platinum they let you try it for free. I had platinum for about a month and it worked well and had some great extra features that I think should be in it without being platinum.

One feature was that I could easily save the keywords that I found to be great for projects. Then platinum was downgraded back to regular and I lost all those keywords that I had saved. BIG FAIL for LTP. I hate them for this one. I had about 10 keywords ready for me to get started on that all had more than 3k unique local searches and high ppc.

I am not upgrading. I can do with out the extra bill for the upgrade easily. They should have just given the upgrade to everyone and made it the new and improved LTP. They would have dominated the keyword tool niche even greater.

The only thing that makes it different for me now is that I put all the keywords in a txt file. No big deal.

They also had extra features to check competition, but really, if you have been doing this for a while and already have a feel for what you can do, you dont need to go into great detail into your competition.

LTP basic is worth the money. Upgrading is not necessary.

First of all I'm sorry to hear about those lost keywords, honestly I can only imagine how pissed that made you. Based on not needing the upgrade and stuff, I have to agree that it's some what greedy of them to make you payout more just to be able to access that.

However, it's a tough world at the best of times, everyone wants to make money at the end of the day, anyways, you mentioned that you don't use it or need it so I'm assuming you have some type of criteria, with the results when using the analyze feature.

I did my home work and watched the videos LTP have made, I sourced some stuff that he mentioned and wrote it down. You can take a look bellow:

Easy'ish keyword = Page Authority 30 or less

Medium keyword = below 40 is ok

Hard keyword = above 40/50

Juice links best with = 20-30

Perhaps if you would be kind enough to share, anything that you personally look for when assessing the results via the analyze feature, that would be very helpful indeed for me to be honest and I would appreciate it.

My only worry you see is that if I judge everything, based on the suggested stats in the videos I could miss a trick. I don't want to end up wasting hours of my time on something that could be inaccurate.

I agree, I had the beta version too and while it had additional features you really don't need them. I lost the data too when I was downgraded.

I have had LTP for a while now and it works good and worth the money but like momakmak said you really don't need to upgrade.

I used it a lot before the Penguin update. I was making about $3500 per month with a ROI of over 1000% (I think...if my math is correct...monthly spend of about $300).

It has been updated since then and I just fired it up a couple weeks ago when I got the email about the new version.

If you use the free methods Spencer shows you can figure out what keywords you can rank for.

That's enough information to figure it out. And, with experience, you'll get better at it. It's better to learn to do it than to have a program give you a rating that is probably nothing more than a calculation based on the information you already have.

I just got LTP and have been playing around with it. I did not upgrade. I pulled a nice keyword out last night and then put it in Traffic Travis (free version). It came up "relatively easy" which I assume is the same as a 20-30 in LTP?

I don't think I like the software. It takes years to display results and most times it just freezes. i bought it during the promotion or so and I don't think it is worth it. It didn't work for me and still not working .Market samurai still the best keyword research tool available. I wish i didn't buy it

I agree with you 1,000000% on that one! it's rubbish and laggs like crazy, I actually gave it the benefit of the doubt but am very let down by it.

I am using the trial version right now. I think it is a great tool, but after three days I am now having issues getting the program to return results. LTP will give me zero results now for everything. Not sure if I over used it on Tuesday or something, but it is not working this morning at all. Sent an email to Spencer.

You probably used it too much and Google detected a bot using the keyword tool. Before locking you out Google will put up a captcha to ensure if a real human is using the keyword tool. When this happens, LTP will stop because it is waiting for Google and Google is waiting for the captcha.

If you paid via Paypal, look under recurring payment. Cancel it there. If not, I'd send an email to Clickbank (who process card/paypal payments) and ask for a refund/cancellation.

As others have mentioned, Long Tail Platinum is garbage. It freezes for KC and when scraping adwords, the 'Add your own keywords' function doesn't work half the time.

I already asked for a refund, but they contacted me and persuade me not to refund for a LTP university, I took LTPU but it is completely useless.

Bought into this recently and can't believe the hype! It's a total dud - doesn't work and when I asked for a refund the next day, was told to go clean the IE cache - then they ignored my follow up request because it still doesn;t work right - why would a keyword tool give me results for Star Wars when I ask for stuff related to Cozy Mysteries???
Come tomorrow I will be logging a PayPal dispute and doing a serious cull of my lists - I have had 3 marketers suggest this tool to me this week - obviously none of them actually use it, so time to say goodbye!

It is a shame about LTP support because it is the best keyword research software bar none...if you do a lot of keyword research. The problem is that the developer, Spencer recognises this and instead of making more money out of this by given better support, he just act arrogant whenever you ask for a fix of something wrong. I know this because I had the same issue that everyone is complaining about when I first bought it and got a one line answer when I contacted support. Lucky for me I stuck with it and right now I will not swap it for anything else on the market, and I have most of them.

Now why will I not swap it? Simple...the keyword competitiveness calculator. It is the best accurate measurement of keyword competiveness that I have seen so far. But that is not the beauty of it. It is the time that it saves me that is invaluable. It saves time because it gives you an absolute number. While most people are looking through pie chat and colour codes or trying to use their experience, you've done your keyword research and moved on to something else. The unfortunate thing is that you have to buy the platinum in order to see it in action. My advice will be that if you have time, know how to pick the right keywords the old fashioned way and don't do a lot of keyword research, save your money and get something else. Otherwise you will be using very outdated system in a modern environment.
