Anyone else thinking about buying Twitter Hummingbird?

Has anyone had experience with this software? Found at:

Twitter Hummingbird Official Site

NOTE: That's not an affiliate plug, that's just for reference of the product I'm referring to.

So I've heard from a couple of trusted buddies that this software is very much worth the price...but I really don't have that much money to spend unless it's kind of a "sure thing" so I'd love to hear some reviews!

And I'd love to hear thoughts of those that are considering this, as well!

I had a very interesting chat with the developer of tweettornado.com last week - Ben something - I actually called him because I was looking at both programs and Hummingbird was a one time $197 while Tweet Tornado was $99 per month.

Turns out that Tweet Tornado has about 10 times as many features - and if it works as promised - it would be well worth the expense. They also have a two tier affiliate program that is supposed to launch next week - and a '24 hr' trial.

I have not tried either one - but plan to try out TT tomorrow - I have to put a couple of things in place to give it a good trial first - but will post back to let you know.

Needless to say - no affiliate links were used in the making of this post ;-)

I am familiar with Hummingbird. However, there are cheaper Twitter tools that have the same core functionality. PM me if you would like more info, be glad to share info with you. Thanks

Thanks so much for your very considerate post!

Do you know much about the support? I know hummingbird has a forum and the guy there is supposed to be very active in constantly helping his hb clients.

Is it the same way with the above-mentioned product?

    Thanks!

No I don't know about the support on either one - I just know that I called and spoke with the owner of Tweet Tornado for about 20 minutes and was really impressed with him and what he says his product does,

As to people being fed up with these products - yes, they are if simply used to automate the process of adding people to your list - but if used correctly to create and market to a targeted list of people - these tools can be a huge weapon in your marketing tool chest. The key is using them correctly: using them to find people by keyword, setting up autoresponders to send out USEFUL information etc.

It does not mean sending out CPA links to 10,000 people a day.....

There are lots of other products that have the core functionalities of these products for free - but if you want some serious Twitter power - or if you are managing multiple brands on Twitter - these seem to be two of the serious "power" tools for Twitter.

I haven't looked at LB in quite awhile - but I will head over and take a look! Only a small % of the actual features are in the video according to the owner - that's why I would recommend using the trial before buying anything!!

        melanied,

They may be purchasing branding rights to a pre-developed software application.

In which case, the pricing on these "miracle solutions" seems way to high to me.

I'm running a beta for a product that does this - all beta testers are from here (WF).
It's also a lot cheaper and is launching on Monday (with a really good WSO!) - you could talk with Hotlinkz here to find out how he's getting on with it if you like.

If the purpose is to build up a big list of followers - I don't see THAT as spamming. I think it's possible to go on Twitter and market subtly without yelling "buy my stuff, click on my affiliate links!"

Regarding HummingBird ... I live in the same city as the developers of HB, and have met them on a local tech event, they are truly dedicated to their products and customers. I myself would purchase the program right now if it worked natively on the Mac (without PC emulation) and they are converting the app to Adobe Air so it can be used on Macs too. (BTW, they do have a great affiliate program too)

I can't say enough great things about the company and their ethics. Brilliant group of young developers too.

As far as people making comments about these tools being nothing but spam tools, I would like to challenge you to take a look at the tools and how they can be used 'without spamming' to manage your Twitter account(s) it is possible and a highly effective way of automating the parts that can be.

I'm planning to open a ghost-writing service for local businesses in my area for Twitter, and the HB software will make it so much easier to manage multiple accounts and grow the brands of those I will be tweeting for.

One thing I have learned is there really isn't a WRONG way to do Twitter. Due to the way Twitter is set up, you can use it however you want to use it and those who follow you have the choice whether or not to follow back. There are so many tweeps using the service differently and doing so successfully for what their goals are.

My point is ... yes there are those who use Twitter for pure monetary gain, and marketing, but to those who follow them they choose to stay followers and if it's working for them who are we to say they're doing things wrong. Twitter is and always will be self policing and there's enough different targets for every conceivable way to use Twitter.

    Regards ... Scott

These tools are not spamming tools!!!!!!!!

The people that use them may end up being spammers but in the hands of good marketers they can be golden.

Following people on Twitter is not spam. I hear that all the time. The only way to spam Twitter it to send out b.s. tweets all day long.

It won't take long to figure out how long that will last before your account gets suspended.

I need to check out Twitter Tornado because I have been looking at Hummingbird..............

      Back to work

I strongly agree that Twitter can be a strong marketing tool without becoming spam. If you tweet sales pitches all day long then no one will care or follow you. If you provide interesting insights and industry news (and perhaps some how-to secrets if that applies to you) - aka VALUE - then people will follow you and read what you have to say. After people decide you are a provider of valuable tweets, you will have a great chance of having their attention when you decide to market your product.

Can't say I'm interested in something like this...it doesn't solve the problem of building relationships on Twitter. I guess in theory it could work, but it isn't my style.

I'm also hesitant to use anything called "brute force" on a social network. These sales pages tell you not to trust anyone with a low follower account, but yet they teach you how to automate getting a large one...invalidates the argument in my opinion.

Also, having 20k followers or giving yourself a title doesn't make you an expert of anything, but that's just my mini-rant.

I would never pay a monthly fee, especially one that borders ridiculous, to do something that only takes me a few minutes per day. I don't really think this business model is going to last much longer and honestly I'm second guessing my decision to create a Twitter course...feel like I'm contributing to a madhouse.

      Hey Melody:

Yes it does- hundreds if you like, and it will create them and fill them up based on keyword search too. You can create and manage as many accounts as you like..

@Nathan Hangen: Don't sweat the "Brute Force" dude...Or the "Smackdown": that's just branding. This software is actually much kinder and gentler than that, and "drips" followers in the background while you do other things. This avoids any possibility of a mass-follow penalty or "footprint" on Twitter, and if they change their algo? So do we.

Plus, other tools like this don't discriminate between followers already on your list, but Smackdown uses a separate online database for each account, so you can never add the same user again to any one account if they unfollow you.

Here's the most important distinction between this software and the rest ...

With each account you enter in the software, each account gets its own online database, which records each and every user you ever add or remove.

So its intelligent, in that the software will never add the same person twice.. e.g if this person was previously un-followed.. they will never be added again and annoy this person..

By far the easiest way to get an account deleted is by the ratio of blocks the account receives etc..

By far the best way to get people blocking your accounts is to follow them over and over!

For example... if you start to follow the followers on mike filsaimes account and then the next day/week john reeses accounts, there will be many duplicates. The other software out there will add these people multiple times even after they have "unfollowed" you, get me? You follow someone from Filsaime's account, they unfollow, you run a search on Reeses account and follow them AGAIN, and voila!

You've pissed off a user, and they will complain. Enough complaints, and T will nuke you. See?

Smackdown will never do this as it always queries the database associated with this particular account you are using...

But the real value of Smackdown as opposed to the others is the associated forum and the personal hand-holding you get from not only Pete and Dana, but also people like me and a host of other very experienced SEO mechanics.

And an Instant Affiliate program doesn't hurt either. Yeah, Instant. They pay him, he pays YOU. Within minutes. Not "every other" sale or any of that BS. Instantly via custom PayPal IPN. Believe me, That's cool Sh*t.

DISCLOSURE: Yeah, I'm a fan-boy. :p I write all of Pete's promotional and affiliate material. But that came about because I was a dedicated USER of his products and strategies FIRST. A True Believer, if you will.

Any other questions on this or any other BF brand, feel free to PM me, and I'll try to answer them!

No thanks on the handholding...and no thanks on the software. There are some things I don't mind automating, but Twitter isn't one of them.

I also think the price is insane...not trying to be rude, but that's just the way I see it.

Again, I'll say...just because you have 20k followers doesn't mean you are a guru.

I totally agree Nathan which is why TweetTribe follows a model very similar to your rockstar model - but is automated. I believe this is the fundamental difference between automated and targeted automated.

This is what we pride ourselves on at least and when we launch on Monday you'll see a price tag that is about a fifth that's before the WSO price )...I cannot wait to unleash this beast.

Bought it a few days ago, well worth the price tag.

Building relationships you have to do yourself, of course, but it can help you get the people that you will build relationships with. You can't talk to thin air.

It's made me $500 so far (indirectly, not through Twitter) and I'll be using it for a few projects.

I'm right there with ya. Glad I did!

And by the way, it's not a spamming tool...

It allows you to follow people, have them follow you back, and then advertise to them with offers that will interest them.

      That's called marketing.

    Hi Nanexist:

Hope all is well. Whatever you decide I hope it is the right choice.

A quick word on some of the software (paid and free) that are available to increase Twitter followers. I have been comfortable getting people to follow without using anything however I did have conversations at length with somebody that used one of the paid programs that promised 15,000 in 90 days amd somebody that used a free one.

They did see a large increase for about 12 days and went from 38 to roughly 1100 and change. It leveled off to about 10 a day after.

The free one gave the person a total of 17 followers in 14 days. A joke really.

Even if the software is 1 cent please be comfortable with the workings of it, the reviews, and the short/long term benefits.

    Enjoy Sunday!

Wow, that salespage leaves a lot to be desired.

Is it a person behind it? Who is it? Can we go to their Twitter page and see their tweets and how many subscribers they have? Can we plot their trend for ourselves at TwitterCounter.com?

What does the software do (besides build followers, I mean)? What kind of followers will you get? Targeted? Mainstream? How does it work?

Does it help you monetize Twitter other than just building followers? Is it spam? Will it get me into trouble with Twitter? Will my followers take offense to it?

      So many questions...

Maybe I read it too fast, but I have many more questions than answers, and certainly no reason to plunk down 2 hundred beans for something I have no idea about.

With all that said above - there are a lot of free Twitter softwares available online, so I don't really see the value of paying $197 or $99/month for these. I've tried Hummingbird and it definitely was not worth $197. Get creative without spending so much money!

I charge a lot less than this for imo a lot more and I ended up building the system because while I was happy I'd found a method of building accounts and suchlike I certainly wasnt happy with the time it took. That said 197bucks is not something I'd pay.
