Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? I'm seeing e-mails touting a new product from Alex Goad and another marketer called Ultimate Video Curator. It's a WP plug that automates the process of finding relevant videos to post at a site along with curated comments, plus a theme and a couple other items. It looks good, and it looks like something I could use for my .tv domains, but I'm wondering if anyone here has purchased this product and, if so, your thoughts on the product. Also, if you you did purchase, is there an OTO included. Thanks. |
Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? Blazon1, I've seen it too. What I'd like to know that I didn't see in the video is how they're being monetized. Another thing that concerns me is Alex Goad. His reputation seems to be that he tends to abandon his software. Interestingly along that theme the offer does not have an about us page, or any way th contact Alex. Those things make me nervous, so I haven't decided on the software yet. Just my opinion... Jimp1 |

Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? I've followed video and content curating for a while. There seems to be a little more than point and click to these systems. You might want to check out other programs like Viral Video Content Pro - Hugh HItchcock or WP Video Sense - Peter Garety, Both have substantial search records. - Bill |
Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? Yeah, I wish this was a forum launch. Bryan is a young kid that has had some successful launches on the forum but sometimes his service can be slow. I own a few of his products and at times you need to keep on him to get the service you need. That said...he has launched some pretty cool products on here. Byran McConnahea - Profile View Profile: Bryan Mc Some of his launches: http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...live-demo.html http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...arent-you.html http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...left-demo.html Here is an interview Han Fan did with him regarding the Ultimate Video Creator and the OTO's. I own the pro versions all of Hugh's curation products... VVC, VIC and ICC and in my experience he certainly is a bit more responsive than Bryan is --> but Hugh also works with other programmers so he does not always have all the answers...but he does reply to concerns, no doubt about that. That said, Hugh's VVC is a desktop software and it will also send stuff to social media (twitter, facebook and pinterest) and he has a syndication module available for purchase as well...which is the only way to do self hosted with VVC --> UVC does not have the syndicator built in, but will do self hosted. Like Bryan's software Hugh's software will schedule posts but it does not have the related videos, RSS and YouTube comments stuff built in like Bryan's plugin does. I have been working/playing around using Garety's RSS plugin (I don't have the pro version) and the free related videos plugin to do what Ultimate Video Creator does and it can do it...sorta...but it would be nice to have the UVC plugin. I am not positive but I believe for early buyers a couple of free bonuses are offered with the higher priced front end offer(s). A few OTO's are available, one of them being some sort of video sitemap plugin...I have been using the free video sitemap plugin to see how how well it works. Another OTO is available which is an expensive package of Bryan's plugins...and I think an info OTO is available as well. I was glad to see the package of plugins offered as it should mean that he will continue to support some of the plugins that I already own. I am still on the fence with UVC...I already have lots of curators and Mark D's Covert Player --> but UVC is very cool, and I want it, but ongoing service is also my concern. Hope that helps. |
Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? Personally I'm not big on curated content because even though you use your "block quotes", etc, you still seem to not have great results in the search engines. I say that with the Google Panda & Penguin, you are better off just either creating your own content from scratch or hiring low budget writers for this. |
Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? Quote:
This is what Todd Gross said in one of his emails that I believe is the info OTO: (There is an option to get 6 extra modules of advanced training once you have the software - the price of which will shock you - get that extra training, we want you in this group) Jimp1, same concerns here regarding Alex Goad. He does seem to abandon his software, plus last year I tried numerous times to retrieve a substantial bonus offered by him (for a substantial purchase) using the support desk he provided. It was a joke: the 'support' desk literally sends you around in circles and had no where for bonus requests - only a drop-down for each of his products which you're eventually forced to use. After finally creating an account there and putting in your request there isn't even an acknowledgement email. So good luck on that. As far as monetizing I guess you just have to get the training modules, or stick in an Adsense or affiliate link where you can. I'm still on the fence as well. If people are so glued to these videos, as the site infers, when ARE they going to click on anything else? Anyone else? Edit: I located the link for Alex's help desk. I had to recreate an account so, of course, my previous tickets were not there. I put in a test ticket, with a small and polite gripe thrown in, and this time received an acknowledgement email which included this text: Please note that we've just recently switched to a new support desk powered by Zendesk. If you're receiving this new ticket notification after replying to a ticket that is already open and existing, it is because your ticket has now been transferred to the new support desk. The agent you were communicating with will continue correspondence. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time of transition. Also note that the new support desk is located at http://supportchamps.zendesk.com -- any future support request can be made there, or you can simply email support as normal. ---- So, there is a way to contact him, and BTW....Ultimate Video Curator is in the drop down at the help desk, but this line in that email is laughable: Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time of transition. |

It's working for videos that I upload with Viral Video Curator but not for the videos I am adding with Covert Video Player. FWIW it's not mapping the related videos generated via the free related videos plugin either but I sorta expected that. Re: the information OTO --> Bryan touches on it in the video I posted above and I know the cost is $47. The sitemap is $27 and the plugin package is $77 and $147 depending on what license you grab. I am going to give maybe 20 of my domains a video curation workout and see what adsense can deliver. -don |
Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? Hey peeps, Warrior member davidalpha1 has the UVC installed...see here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...r-install.html |
Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? Let me just add my two cents to whether or not it's worth video curating on a site. Oh, yeah... big time. At least for getting page-ranked, your posts to appear in the serps, and a first page boost for your own YT videos. Without using any of the later video curation "tools" I bought, I grabbed just one of the automated video posters I got in Tom Ness' Charity WSO for Addison Locke last spring... and on October 30th, started systematically adding about 10 videos per day to one niche site, using 15 categories. Within one month, that site went from 4,000,000 to less than 1 million on Alexa, and now 3 1/2 months later, it's ranked around 400,000 globally and went from 0 Page Rank to a 2. It's not monetized yet (yeah, I NOW need to do that), but has a tone of page one rankings for individual posts. In the midst of that back in December, when YouTube changed up quite a few things, ALL my 2500 videos disappeared! OMG! Had to go back and re-embed the codes on each post. So haven't had time to finish the process of what I had planned. But get this... there is NOTHING on those posts except the VIDEO itself. Nothing. No description, no comments, no article, no nothing. Obviously, my plan was to go back AFTER it got indexed and ADD the associated article to the post. My thinking was I would get double the bang for my time by "updating" it in layers, rather than just in one long post. Boy, was I shocked to see this site take off like a rocket. The unfortunate video plugin debacle with the missing embed codes took a month's work to fix (with 500 still to go) so I STILL have not added the articles to these posts. Still, I'm gaining rank daily, though the 3 month and 1 month data are beginning to level off. Bottom line... is that when visitors stop by they view around 13 different pages, spend more than 24 minutes (leveling out from 30+ minutes) on the site with a consistent 69 seconds on each page they visit. The bounce rate was less than 40% but now is inching higher and I'm guessing it will level at around 50%. That's mainly because ALL the videos scroll on the front page and are completely viewable there, so they never really have to leave the front page. So if I had it set up differently, where you had to leave the front page, who knows, those figures would probably be much higher and the bounce rate much lower. When I add the articles and other additions, layering each for repeated serp impact, I think it will only get better. My take on this is to forget about the SERPs... as I only get 6% of my traffic from Google. I concentrate on the niche, bring in my own traffic, and Alexa and SEMrush and Google and all the others take note of the traffic and the fact people are hanging out on my site a damn long time (based on average results elsewhere) and they don't give a flip on what's bringing that traffic there. They're just reflecting what IS and ranking accordingly. So should you start adding or curating video content? A better question is... why are you waiting so long to do it? Just my thoughts... Robin Carlisle :) |

I had inadvertently placed my question within your quote....duh. (One minute it sounds like you purchased UVC and the next minute it doesn't.) Anyway, came to post about this demo link for UVC INSPIRE Blog Daily Inspiration and Motivation |
Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? And by the way, that site is sloooooooooow as molasses and STILL people endure it and stay there anyway, lol. I mean... the stats tell me it is 86% slower than any other site on the internet, lol. And only a couple dozen posts even have meta tags or descriptions... almost ZERO seo at all! No kidding! The point being... you CANNOT mess this up! Just put the dang videos on your site... NOW... and stop wasting time, lol. But is this a fluke? Nope. I did this on a dozen brand new sites in various niches... same kind of thing happened. It's weird, bizarre, head-scratching stuff, I know. But... it works. Why? Who knows. I think that if you just pick a niche where people have lots of questions and want to get quick answers without a lot of reading... and you go grab a couple thousand videos that answer their questions very well... and organize those videos into categories that they can easily navigate... well, then... I think you've got yourself a traffic magnet that even Google can't screw up. At least... those are my thoughts... Robin Carlisle :) |
Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? Yeah curation works for sure as I curated an image site back in 2005 (before they called it curation I think) that was doing almost a half-million page views a day, most all of them were from Google. I have not touched the site since (other than maintenance) and it's still doing 30,000 to 75,000 page views a day almost 8 years later. Yeah, I sat on the number 1 or 2 ranks for a few very big keywords for a very long time, and the site ranked #1 or 2 on hundreds of key phrases...it's slipped to the bottom of page 1 due to pure neglect as it's on an old, old server that can't take any of the good stuff, and I will break the site if I update the server. I curated several other image sites that did well in 2006 and 2007 and are still alive today so I know curation does work, and it can be monitized, as I have had my share of $100 days and a $1000 day or two. I did not get rich off the sites but if I would have kept at it --> and monitized them better, who knows?? Unfortunately many years later videos have overtaken images in popularity and I still own 60+ photo and image domains...woops...gotta start picking up some new domain soon! I also need to pound the social media as back in the day it was not needed and I avoided it like the plague...dumb, dumb, dumb! Anyway, curation works for lots of folks in many different ways! @Robin --> I purchased that Tom Ness charity package and never used a thing in it. :o Darn it. Just for grins --> what is the autoposter you used from that WSO? Edit: I just logged back in to the charity WSO and saw that it is AutoTube Press...I have tried that one out but have not used it for "real". In-fact I just pulled it out the other day and tried it on my test site. :) |

Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? I now make it a rule to come here and check out other peoples' ideas before buying something. So thanks, everyone for this! I originally heard about this via an Affiliorama email, so I assumed Mark Ling's people could answer questions. They told me that I could contact the developers, and gave me a link - but it just wound up being the sales page. I couldn't discover anything else about Alex Goad except for what I read here. But, I really like video, and just hearing what AtlantaRobin said, above, is enough to convince me that placing appropriate videos into my content is important. Until I hear a lot more about this particular product, I'm going to hold off and just place them in manually. Thanks guys for all that insight! |

Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? Hi guys, Thanks for checking out UVC. I thought I would respond to a couple things here. 1. In regards to the exec function, this is required for the UVC Quick Installer which installs and sets up the various UVC components for you. It is provided as a convenience, not required. The plugin and theme can be easily installed through the normal WP interface as any plugin/theme might. 95% of people do not have a problem using this because the exec function is enable by default. However 5% or so have hosts that disable this because they are ultra security hawks and of course they won't like enabling it. I'm not saying they don't have their reasons, but it's about the equivalent of demanding to hold your 16 year old's hand while crossing the road. 2. ForumGuru, thanks for your inputs buddy :) 3. atlantarobin, you pretty much hit the nail on the head with your posts. Curation, when done right is the future. However, most don't do it properly and that's what I hope to solve with UVC. But I just want to be clear to everybody, when atlantarobin says the site is slow, she is not referring to a site she built with UVC. 4. maverick4u, David had a problem using the Quick Installer because of his hosting. However, most don't. And if it's impossible to use the Quick Installer, you can just install the theme and plugin by uploading them via WP like any other plugin, it's just a few clicks more. The Quick Installer is there as a convenience, it's not to say you are forced to use it. It probably takes your installation time for 5-7 minutes (counting downloading, uploading and clicking activate) to 2-3 minutes using the Quick Installer. Thanks guys, Bryan |
Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? I installed it yesterday on a domain I want to give a little life to. This will be for a local seo service, so building some ranking will be important over the next year. I had some issues with the install, but I'm also smart enough to use my host's control panel, so it wasn't an issue for long. My favorite part of the app is the saved searches. Basically, I can grab the top category posts of the day by region and check that daily. There are lots of other search options available. Overall the site looks pretty sweet and I'm sure mine will look better with more content and tweaking on my part. You will have to use the template. That's not a problem for me, because this was a new site, but if your in love with an existing template you might want to keep that in mind. Overall, I think this delivers on being fast and easy to use. I'm glad I picked it up. |

Well I'm in --> and I must say this system kicks a$$. I repeat...this system kicks serious a$$ and I am quite pleased to say the least! My initial thoughts and experiences. #1 After downloading the installer plugin from the members area I literally had the plugins an theme installed and my first post curated within maybe FOUR minutes or less! WoW! #2 Installation was very smooth on a HOSTGATOR SHARED server! No issues whatsoever. #3 The system worked perfectly! Just as shown in the videos! #4 Before curating I added a couple of Goggle Alert feeds which I already had setup in Google so this took me less than 1 minute. #5 The entire curated post took maybe 1.5 minutes to do and a minute to add some of my own editorial text. The post I created added the video, related videos, YT comments, text I added, YT description, title, and the cool trending section. Very Nice! #6 I used the theme provided and have not tried another theme yet but the system worked perfectly with the delivered theme! #7 The system formats the posts beautifully...no doubt about --> that and so far the page load time is good. #8 This is a superior system! I am going to install this on a BUNCH of domains starting TODAY. #9 The installer does include a bunch of plugins and the theme and I have not configured any of the plugins or the theme --> but even without any configuration my curated post went up beautifully. All of the plugins installed without a hitch. Sweet. #10 I'll try to add more to my review later but so far this appears to be one of the best WP tools I have purchased! #11 My only niggle so far is no The Best Spinner integration...only Spin ReWriter. Hopefully TBS integration will be added as that's what I am using! Are you planning to add it, Bryan? #12 This is a great system...no doubt about that. That's all for now folks. Hope it helps! IMHO this thing not only works but it exceeded my expectations! |
Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? Hi Bryan, This looks great - but just got a few questions before I decide: Are there any issues with uploading other people's videos and then hosting them ourselves? I ask this only because I don't want to build sites and then find that later I get my site banned for using videos that don't have the Youtube Embed code, which I believe links back to YT (as part of their TOS). I believe that YT videos can still be downloaded even if the creator of those videos has not allowed embedding. If this is the case and we download and them to our servers - am I right in thinking that this will be a copyright issue? Don't get me wrong - but if someone took any of my videos and uploaded them to their server without my permission, then I would see that as theft of my property. I know that on the sales page it states that permission is required from the owner - so I'm guessing that if it was my video that was getting a gazilion views a month - why would I want to give that traffic to someone else and not get a link back to my video. I'm not making any kind of accusations and maybe I've missed something - but I'm in for the long haul and don't want to waste my time and money only to get in bother with copyright or using other people's videos/content without permission issues. I certainly don't need any kind of law suits. Also, if these videos are being uploaded to our web hosting servers, then won't it be using an enormous amount of bandwidth, as they are videos and if we're using video that are hot topics, then I'm sure that it will use huge amounts of bandwidth? One other thing. I see the salespage states 'updates for life' but Alex Goad has been mentioned a few times on this thread and statements claiming that he abandons his software. That's not good! I have hard drives full of software that does work anymore and I will NEVER buy stuff from those sellers again. I realise that Goggle makes many changes which causes many softwares to stop working - but I do want some assurance that this is not going to happen with this. I'm just sick to death of throwing away money. I'm sure you can understand. (I've got individual plugins that will do exactly what your all-in-one software and theme does and more - only it's time consuming and would much rather use a quicker solution.) So, will this software be updated and if so, is included in the price of $47? Lastly, are their any hidden OTO's? These are just thoughts that I am concerned about and not accusations. I look forward to any feedback about these issues. Thanks. |

The Best Spinner is actually cheaper than SpinReWriter if you purchase through a Warrior Forum classified ad link at just less than $50 bucks a year. I don't spin much either as most spun stuff is crap...but I do use it with VVC as it allows simple spinning to rotate descriptions on bookmarks sent to social sites. So if it's not too much trouble it would be a nice addition. I purchased SpinReWriter when it first came out and then let my subscription expire after 6 months. When I wanted to use a spinner with VVC and a couple of other tools I decided to go with TBS and forked over the cash because more tools use TBS than SPRW . At the end of the day I think TBS is the cheaper option by $12.10 per year. -don |

Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? Quote:
Alex says in the video that you download the video and then upload it to your server. I didn't hear him say that it's being served from YT. Have I missed something? In the first video on your sales page Alex states the following about the options: "You can download this video and automatically upload it back to your server so it becomes your own video." Sorry, but I don't get that. HOW CAN IT BE YOUR OWN VIDEO? Think I'll give it a miss. Good luck! |

In any case, this is not the core of the system at all, not even close. It's a feature, it works, do with it what you will. I personally just don't download videos and repost them like that. I almost exclusively use UVC with the Youtube embed code serving the videos and so does everyone else. Anyway, good luck yourself :) Bryan |
Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? Bryan Mc, A couple of questions, if I may.So do I understand this correctly, you can use videos from YT that still stay on YT. You don't have to load them to your own server at all? If so do I still need permission from the originator? Also if I purchase the UV Curator package to try it out, Can I use on several sub-domains of the master domain? Also what is the contact information for support or refunds as nothing seems to be given on the sales page? Lastly, can I then upgrade to one of the other packages in the future for the price differential? Thank you... Jimp1 One other thing I forgot, in the sample site shown I didn't see it being monetized. How do you see yhat being done (besides Adsense)? |
Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? I'm thinking about buying this product. What's the story with OTOs? Is there one? Are they necessary? Thanks. Gary |
Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? I am in arms with what to purchase: UVC or Garity's Video Sense Pro. What i see with Garity's is easy monetization and with UVC there does not see to be any unless you add some plugins to get it in. If you have some dead wp blogs do you just set this up, change themes and then keep adding content or do you set up a subdomain and then add the video's? @A-Robin, your post inspires me, but still not exactly sure how you do it, just set up the plugin and let it run. I'm sitting on two fences and need some advice before I jump off and jump in knee deep. Appreciate any help I can get here. |

The theme that comes with it has an option for an ad block in the header but for some reason it's not displaying my adsense block. I have inserted 468x60 code and it's not showing up. I have scanned the settings and so far I have not come up with anything. That said the system seems to be working fine with my original theme. Not sure yet on the adblock issue I am seeing...I'll do some more checking. |
Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? @forumguru Thanks a ton for the reponse, I really appreciate it. Might I ask which themes you are having luck with? I have some of the old MFA themes and when I tried switching to something else it distorts the crap out of the site and I don't want to waste a day fixing it so I just go back to the old theme. I have one curated site from Hugh and I am using the magazine theme that is free and wondering how this would work for that. I'm starting to get a hang of this and when you compare this UVC to Gariety's it's kind of like, this option for that option. I like his theme better, but he doesn't include all the stuff that UVC offers. I am sitting here deciding because I want the unlimited version not the $10 one site option. The price difference between the 2 is $20, so that isn't much of a big deal just don't want to end up purchasing both. LOL |
Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? @coach I edited my post above just a tad after reviewing the theme and some video documentation. It seems this UVC theme IS quite different than any other theme I have used --> and it appears as if it does not do a traditional site header and top menu setup. So if you are looking for a more traditional looking front page then you may want to go on a subdomain. If you want a straight video site then using this at top level may be OK if you can get used to the sorta non-traditional look. The built in theme is highly recommended by Bryan and I sorta see why...it's video, video, video and more video...everywhere. All of it's features are designed to place videos and I noticed it does not play that well with non-video posts as several of the key features seem to be looking for videos to show a thumb. It's not that you can't do ordinary non-video posts...you can but then you may not want to use some of the features that are built into the theme. At least that's what I think I am seeing so far. The built in theme is fairly customizable...but again it's not a "traditional looking" theme. I think I am going to run with it on a few sites top level and see how I like it. I am also gonna try some other ads in the ad block to see if I can make those work...not sure yet on why that ad block not working with my adsense ad. I have not tried any ad plugins yet but will be trying a couple soon enough. I have also not tried some of my other often used plugins so I don't know how nice they will play if used. As far as using other themes go --> what I am using is Photocrati that runs about $90...it's a "photographers" theme. I have also tried a few ThemeShock themes and the plugin seemed to be working on those that I tried as well. If you give me a link to the specific Magazine theme you are using I can check it out for you as long as it's available to download. |

Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? Quote:
I just installed quick adsense and inserted a single ad and it's working with the UVC plugin on a third party theme as well as with the UVC theme. Looks like it's a go. :) -don |
Re: Ultimate Video Curator - thoughts? @forumguru I went ahead and purchased it. I loaded it on a traditional theme and it does put video inside but the related content is kind of goofy. I also loaded their theme on a site (subfolder) and put in a couple of posts but nothing is working properly. I will have to go watch the video's to see if I can get it to work properly. As for the adsense on their theme????? 4getaboutit. it doesn't work no matter what I tried. I will just use quick adsense like I have on many other sites. That is one of the reasons why I struggled with this purchase--gariety has a more user friendly theme package from what I saw. Oh well, I'll give this a honest try and if I can't get the theme to work like they show, it's refund time. |

Warrior davidalpha1 has his site running on a subdomain so it's possible...his site looks like mine except his RSS feeds were not running. I am not sure what the deal was with that. Maybe he did not have them setup properly or long enough to pull data from the RSS. But for sure his theme looked like it should. Yeah, I also gave up on the built in adsense block for now and am going to use my own plugins for ads as well. I own a couple of Garety plugins...RSS Curator I really like but I was hating my inbox filling up with his damn emails.
