SBI v's WordPress - Side By Side Comparison

Hi Warriors

Looking for a little guidance on which website building platform is better for complete newbies - SBI Sitesell or Wordpress "self-hosted" websites.

I know that SBI is quite expensive compared to WordPress, but if we put actual running costs aside for now, which would offer a complete newbie the best chance of online success?.

Regards
Kevin

    Kevin,

I have both an SBI site and a Wordpress blog in a highly competitive market. SBI wins hands down. My unique visitors on my SBI site are over 60,000 per month while my Wordpress blog gets around 10,000. Yes, it costs me $300 per year for the SBI site, but it's well worth the money.

Congrats on your success, Carl, but I think you'll find (as I did) that when you move your sites out of SBI, your rankings will soar, your page views per visitor will also rocket, AND it will be so much easier to add new content.

Niche selection and good content can survive in any system even SBI. But Wordpress will allow you to add content quicker and more conveniently and insulate you from being over dependent on any one proprietary platform. SBI is not compatible with other hosting or platforms.

Building an ENTIRE business on one small company's proprietary platform and limiting your education to their system is just flat out bad business. The president has mentioned just THIS WEEK that he might "wind down" Sitesell if "trolls" and "haters" beat him at some unnamed challenge. He's mentioned how he doesn't need the money that he makes with Sitesell. So, it's just a hobby. Last year he also mentioned that he might close the company down during his Google protest. These HINTS should be a wake up call to all current and future business owners that their livelihoods (or hope for livelihoods) are NOT secure at SBI.

Thank goodness, Carl, you've learned Wordpress and how to build your own site w/ CSS/HTML. I've seen your Disney site and it is obviously not built w/ block builder, and it looks like you have been clever enough NOT to follow the "action guide" to a T so you're still surviving. However, most SBI-ers will be in dire straights when SBI closes. I have no doubt you are happy w/ your experience at SBI, but I think it's necessary to warn people about the dangers of building a future around SBI.

SBI is more expensive than Wordpress, and entirely more RISKY. Wordpress is by far more flexible, cost-effective, and stable. It's easily the better platform.

I have a website that started out with SBI, and is now on WordPress. Mine is also in a very highly competitive niche. In my opinion, WordPress wins hands down.

I had my site with SBI for three years, and my last month with them, I had just over 67,000 visitors and just over 152,000 page views. My Alexa rank was somewhere around 124,000.

After moving to WordPress, my site started to thrive. After one year on WordPress, my traffic had grown to 202,325 monthly visitors with 648,776 monthly page views, and an Alexa rank of 52,277.

In retrospect, I wish I could have those three years back that I spent with SBI, and I wish to goodness that someone had told me about WordPress back when I was first starting out. Unfortunately, I had never even heard of WordPress at that time.

Kevin, your anti-SBI agenda is obvious.

Why are you posting this thread asking about SBI vs Wordpress as if you didn't know the difference, when in another forum thread you clearly stated:

And in another forum thread you clearly stated:

That you already advised someone you knew to use Wordpress instead of Site Build It because it was, in your opinion, the better program.

Why the hell are you lying to people by pretending that you are just a "curious newbie" when in fact you are a seasoned user of both SBI and Wordpress?!

You are clearly just setting up this entire thread to allow your anti-SBI buddies to bash SBI.

Let me ask you a question... who is paying you to waste your time like this? Because I have a hard time believing that you are doing it without receiving some form of compensation.

Oh look what I found here:

    A page on Kristi's website:

    SBI vs Wordpress

Where she added a comment at the end by who other than "Curtis2011" that says that "he" is happy that she talked about how terrible SBI is.

Except that post isn't by me. That post is by Kristi who is clearly impersonating me.

    Kristi, you are pathetic.
