Arrow Best Webhost for a Newbie?

Just about to get my first website up and running.

What do you folks consider the best webhost for a non-techie like me and why?

Thank you

Hostgator.com - I've always loved it. http://www.quicksnatch.com/images/smiley66.jpg

Hi Dhrousha hostgator is good but its most expensive hosting site and many people don't afford its price the main demerit in it is its price change frequently so it will be much difficult to renew your hosting plan in future you can choose any of the following either liquidnet.com or infrenion.com there both are affordable hosting services goos for you.
Thanks.

Here's a good one to practice with- www.000webhost.com. It has cpanel and all that, they are free, and they don't put ads on your site as some free hosts do.

You can learn to do what you want without paying every month, while you shop around for paid hosting.

I use Hostgator, they are good in many ways.

I register my domain names on Namecheap or 1&1.com usually, not with my hosting provider, and many warriors recommend that also.

Hostgator should be your choice. They are ideal to start with as they offer so many things that even after you get the hang of it you will still find new things and you'll be grateful you chose them.

Hi Dhrousha,

When you become a member of TurboMembership, you get hosting for the best price...Free!
Also comes with support for free as well.

I know John is revamping TurboMembership, so I don't know if he will include it in the future...
My sense of knowing John though, if he makes any changes to it, it will be even better than it was in the past.

It is also the same hosting I use as well as many other TMers including John himself.

I hope that helps.

Your friend,
Scott

Everyone on this forum seems to love HostGator, but I believe it's because that's the only one they've experienced. HostGator.com doesn't have a good plan by any means. You can get much more bang for your buck and great customer support if you go with HostMonster.com or LunarPages.com.

Check out hosting-review.com to do your own shopping around with more in-depth information than most ppl on this forum will provide.

Where did you get that info? It is totally wrong.

Hostgator is good for newbies because it has tutorials and videos on how to do everything you need to do for hosting your site. You sign up for the plan you want - the prices are very good and in over 4 years I've never had a price change on my HG accounts.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

I will have a look at the ones mentioned and see if any are 'idiot proof'!

If I find one that is, well that'll be the one for me...

Thank you again for taking the time to help.

For a newbie I suggest Zensix, it comes with all the bells and whistles for a very good price. check it out you'll be glad you did.

From my point of view, it's essential to register a domain with a service that is different from the web hosting.
So, if you signup with a web hosting that's not great, you can easily move your site(s) from that to another one!
In the past, I've bought a package from Lunarpages but for me it's slow.. a friend of mine bought a package from Hostgator, and it's great !
Regarding 000webhost, yes it's free, I've a site with them but sometimes it's down! And also cpanel has some limitations.
Remember, you can find great service from 5$/mo.
