Hey guys, im setting up my first website for my first product and im wonder what a good option for payment is? I prefer clickbank because i get a cheque and i feel overall more secure with them because i do not hear stories about peopels clickbank accounts being hacked unlike the paypal accounts. However does the lack of affiliate tracking that has been running rampant at clickbank affect product vendors or only affiliates? Can someone also outline the pros and cons of paypal vs clickbank? thanks |

I prefer to use ClickBank's own payment system. Some people prefer to use Paypal, because the payment is instant and one doesn't have to wait for checks to arrive. |

PayPal is the more popular of the two, I think. Bear in mind too that if you sell to anyone living in the UK or the EEC, then they will have to pay a tax of up to 17.5% on every purchase made through ClickBank, which could affect your levels of sales. If they pay through PayPal, then the tax does not apply. It might be worth considering using both payment processors, but in a way that does not confuse your customers. Oh, and if you do a search on the forum, you will find many a thread that points to ClickBank commissions being either hijacked, or otherwise not paid. I guess that nothing is perfect on the Internet! Regards, Jeff. |

I know about the clickbank problem however i heard it was mostly affiliate ids which were cookie stuffed and hi jacked. since i'm the vendor their is no affiliate id associated with it. However im still trying to clear up whether that applies to vendors aswell or just affiliates.

Use Clickbank - Paypal can close your account any time for any reason and that can do damage to your business - stick with Clickbank.

Hello Mr Vanquish Both are good but the advantage of paypal to clickbank is that you get your money straight into your account without you waiting.Another advantage of paypal is that people get to buy from you more because they get to trust paypal when it comes to buying digital product. My advice for you is that you use but payment processor. How? You can set your product on e-junkie and at the same time you can set it to clickbank.Any other question i will here live to answer you. THANKS |

I'd say ClickBank are easier to setup and everything. They also do seem more reliable (won't close your account) plus the affiliate systems in place. The only advantage I see in PayPal is the instant commissions. BTW: ClickBank can send you wire transfers if you're a big enough player. |

Any idea if you can accept paypal direct payments at the same time through e-junkie? If you can, do you know what would then happen if you had affiliate referring sales to you? Thanks for any info.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Is the clickbank tracking problem a problem faced by affiliates only or vendors as well?

There are some third party vendors that sell security programs that boost your safety regardless of which one you choose. They offer alot of features inlcuding protecting your download page, might be worth looking into.

I'd go for PayPal. No, I don't care about the recent issues faced by Clickbank's tracking but the fact is I've never used PayPal. I would integrate PayPal to 1shoppingcart or amemberPro or Easy member pro and have my affiliates paid whenever they want. This way, they neveer have to wait for PayChecks. - Lokesh Sharma |

I prefer clickbank. Paypal is not reliable, they(Paypal) can close your account anytime without notice.

I use clickbank. However I am switching to Paypal to customize the checkout process. Conversions are greatly effected by the shopping cart. Being able to add videos and testimonials INTO the check out is critical, which clickbank does not let you do.

Clickbank, hands down. If you want something comparable to Paypal, go with AlertPay. Considering how Paypal's reputation is worsening I would say AlertPay will replace them within a year or so (and hopefully history doesn't repeat itself... so far, AP is reliable).

Click bank take more, but I prefer them. They also include an affiliate program and a platform for affiliate to find and promote you. They also include Pay Pal as part of their collection, so I think CB suits me better.

There were couple of threads about paypal freezing accounts. If you get large number of sales quickly and end up with some refunds then you are always at the risk getting your account limited. In my opinion, start with paypal and improve your conversion. Once you have a solid converting offer, switch to Clickbank so that you will have lot of sales from affiliates as well. -Neo |

I always recommend not to depend on the single type of payment processor . For instance , if you use paypal , for some reason your account could be suspended which jeopardizes your business . So , try to diversify among best processing systems . Mike |

When eBay bought paypal I was screwed even after sending proof they wanted me to pay for something that was not my fault so I do not use paypal but inside of i.e e-junkie and 2checkout. I hate Pay-pals monopolistic dictatorship but I also know people who swear by them. |
