Optimize Press 2.0 Video Walkthrough (so you can see what it looks like inside!)

Hi there,

I just made a video going over the main functionalities of Optimize Press 2.0.
I hope this helps you decide whether OP2 is the right tool for you or not.

I apologise for the length of video. The idea was to show you an "unboxing" of Optimize Press 2.0. So what you see is my real reaction to it!!!

Also, the audio went crazy between 6:00 and 9:00 for some reason! So please bear with it, it eventually goes back to normal!

If you have any specific questions on Optimize Press 2.0, feel free to ask me and I will have a look and let you know, or shoot a short video about it!

Cheers
Manu

This is the video:
Optimize Press 2 0 - YouTube

(no affiliate links or anything, just my walkthrough)

PS: I couldn't figure out how to embed the video so that it'd show up in a video player... if anyone cares to share that with me it'd be much appreciated!

PPS: If you don't want to watch the video, here are the main points:
1. Optimize Press 2.0 comes both as a Theme and a Plugin
2. It has a lot of new and very cool features
3. The interface has been completely redone to appear more modern and easier to use, but, in my opinion, they failed at this. The new interface is surely more modern, but there are too many options and things are not particularly clear...
4. The way OP2.0 is used is completely different from OP1.0. Each new post/page has its own Page Editor, that lets you "visually" chose the template for the page and configure all other options.
5. You will need to go over the entire Training course and the learning curve will be steep. OP2.0 is not an easy piece of software to use, and being proficient at OP1.0 will not help you much.
6. Optimize Press now comes with its own Membership Management plugin, called OptimizeMember. This is a redesigned version of the free S2Member plugin. This means it has a million cool options and can do pretty much anything you dream of, but it's pretty hard to set up.
7. Overall OP2.0 is a great piece of software but it's definitely not easy to use.

Can you tell me if it's got a built in referral system in place ? So we can setup our own affiliate program using Paypal or whatever payment gateway we choose ?

If not, what do you recommend as add-on/plugin that can work with OP2

    Thanks

Thanks for making this video Manu.

I have a question: I am new to IM, not too proficient with WordPress and have not used OP 1 previously, does OP2 have training videos showing you how to use it? I am considering buying it but I am not sure how hard it is to use it.

It's quite expensive and I am a bit worry that I might waste the money.

      Cheers

Look, they do provide training videos but they are not particularly extensive.
Version 1 has a ton of videos... version 2 has just a few (5 or 6 if I recall).

Using OP2 is not something that will require a PhD, but it is complicated. Can you learn? Surely! Will it be quick? Probably not. But give it a couple of weeks and you'll know how to use it effectively.

As for the money, if you are not sure you should be spending the money on it, probably you shouldn't. Find another product that is cheaper and easier to use.
Or buy OP2, give it a try and ask for a refund if you find that it doesn't meet your needs!

So far I find this version of Optimize Press 2.0 is - Over-priced, under-developed, and the most basic stuff is still 'bugging out'... for $297, really?

I am actually trying to like it, as I had bought this with the impression it would be far more superior than OP 1, which I have used since 2011.

The first thing that drew a red flag for me was the list off stuff OP 2.0 requires before installation, but there is absolutely NOTHING indicating "How or Where" to find all this stuff! Once I upgraded my PHP handler to 5.4 it responded a little bit better.

If I have to literally rebuild my hosting account and tweak PHP and hosting files just to get this thing to function... that in itself doesn't seem RIGHT!

These guys are the programmers... not us. If it's supposed to be a simple visual editor, why can't I even see the difference in the templates for a blog layout... "they are different"; as James mentions (while referring to the complaints they been receiving)... but common, wow one has a grey border the other has a grey sidebar, and the last is ultra clean... WTH?

IMHO I think I'm going to be forced to re-zip it and wait or get a refund, and sadly.... I am disappointed because I expected better quality from them. There first theme was smooth, had killer graphics, and buttons, simplicity in choosing a layout - be it a squeeze page or blog layout.

This "THING" is nowhere near SIMPLE. Sadly, I wanted to build a membership site with it.... "More Videos Coming Soon..." - You want to know how to do "XYZ" More Videos coming sooon... and then the videos explain much, except... this is how you turn on the :Homepage Featured Area" - "This is How you turn OFF the HomePage Featured Area"

The few videos James did are actually informative, but the rest are just vague and non-responsive to the details they should be covering a bit more extensively.

Anyone considering BUYING OP 2... Think twice, it's NOT what OP 1 was or is... not even close!

      I feel your pain Terril!!

I bought OP2 when it came out, as I had been a happy user of OP1. When I realised it was very buggy and pretty crappy I decided to not use it and wait. Just yesterday I decided it was time to give it another try (assuming they've fixed the bugs) and realised their video tutorials have not moved an inch. Still no info on anything! Just 2 videos for Membership sites??? Really? I actually wrote to them asking for more videos. You never know!!

Anyway... I really really hope it works smoothly on my server. One thing I didn't have problems last year was getting it to at least run. I don't think your problem is very common for OP2. Are you on a server like Godaddy, perhaps?

I still totally believe in the message I wrote before yours. Do not buy OP2, find a cheaper better plugin.

So sad though!!! It looked so promising!

Last night I spend over 10 hours getting familiar with the editor, and creating membership pages. The 2 videos James did were actually well done. Would be nice if he would do more quality videos - considering all the known issues they've had.

I made it past all the PayPal integrations in the members area, and created my main membership pages, login, sample download, got Get Response optin working, and was actually 'thinking' "OK maybe this CAN work!"

Today, I log into my now secure WP membership site, get set to create more member only content, and cannot add images - the drag & drop box is stuck halfway down the page with no scroll bar to add images the in visual editor.

OK, I don't need a thumbnail for this page, right?

So, I proceed to try and remove the 'logo' - the page editor is 'stuck' halfway visible, with no scroll to add or remove elements!!! (and It was just working fine last night!)

I guess I'm gonna have shelf this thing, sandbox the membership project, and build it fresh using S2Members and another theme... really saddens me... I have 3 days invested in this project, and the theme/plugin is too unstable!

Who knows... maybe they'll get this theme/plugin sorted out. Again, I really don't want to refund...I want it to work!

Just visited the home page url to my membership landing page and half of my optin header content 'magically' disappeared... this is just SAD!

As for hosting I am currently on HostGator's shared servers, but leaning towards WiredTree's VPS very soon, as I hear EIG is not a good hosting provider.

Sorry, didn't mean to blow up your thread. I wish they would've built on OP 1 and just added more to it. This theme/plugin is a great concept, but I cannot use it, too unstable!
