Just so you know, if you're with Hostgator ( I know there are a lot of you here ), and there is an issue with your account, there are NO notifications sent after 10 days. Meaning, if you go on vacation and your CC has reached it's expiration date, you won't receive any notifications after 10 days. lol So when you get back and resume business as usual and people start emailing you that sites are down, you find out that automatic billing hasn't gone through for the last 3 invoices. |

You know that might sound crazy to some people, but the same exact thing happened to me. All of a sudden one day all of my sites were down. It was a simple fix... all I had to do was go in and pay my bill. But, you must've been lucky because I only miss one payment not three. I have been with them for like six years too. And I am on a big dedicated package. Anyway, it is a common mistake and happens more times than you think Regards, Shannon Herod |

Thanks for the heads up. It is shocking to hear. I believe webmasters should have a button to opt in and out and say when they are in vacation or not. Etc...

That has happened to me also. If that wasn't bad enough, I also got a domain name expiration notice but it was dumped into Yahoo's spam folder so one of my best domains expired and suddenly stopped making money! Yep, pretty annoying. It is best to keep everything in a spreadsheet if you plan to run this effort as a business. TomG. |

Yes, it is certainly helpful to keep a spreadsheet especially if you wish to do business and keep things tidy

Add the date (along with dates for domain renewals) to your calendar program. I set mine a few days early. Have your program send you a notification. I have mine in my iCal which is always on my iPhone, but you could use any calendar program, or even Google calendar online for free.

There was a problem when they billed my credit card, and I just realized this afternoon that my sites were down cause of a suspended account. I got it fixed in about a 10 minute phone call, but it would be nice if there was some sort of quicker notification. Oh well, that's a very minor complaint from a company that so far has been very good with their service. |
