Best membership and subscription management tool (alternative to Amember Pro)

Hi,

I have a site that sells member access to a language learning course (not yet live) that I have implemented the Amember Pro membership solution in. I have come across some technical issues relating to the playing of the mp3 audio that it appears they cannot facilitate it displaying the way I need it to. I am looking for an alternative membership and subscription management tool - can anyone recommend one?

My requirements are quite basic in that I will only have a couple of products that are 'soft' and all the buyer gets is access to the content. I need mailing lists, registration forms, autoresponders, managing affiliates, accepting payments, granting access automatically, manage subscriptions etc

I have come across several but not sure which are robust with good support etc.

These are some I have found:

aMember Pro Alternatives, Competitors & Similar Software | GetApp

Membership Software Review: Kajabi, Nanacast, aMember, DAP and More!

Thanks in advance,

Jonathan

    Johny,
what exactly problems do you have with aMember and mp3? May not it be easier to solve these problems than seek for alternative solutions? Contact me via PM or send me ticket numbers in our helpdesk.

      Hi,

The issue is that Amember only caters for the implementation of Flowplayer video. I need html5 video and audio to be played on my site which is still protected by the Amember security.

Having said that the protecting of the Flowplayer video is an extremely laborious process with each video file needing to be named then added to the Amember application explicitly. Not the end of the world if you have a handful of videos, but as my site is a language learning site the are literally thousands of audio (mp3) files that, if they could be protected by Amember, in the same way as the video needs to be, would be extremely laborious to do. And every time the file might need to be changed it would need to be updated multiple times, once in the video/audio repository, once on the page link and then also in the Amember security explicit path.

I have implemented the jplayer, not be confused with the jwplayer. jplayer handles both video and audio for html5. The only issue is that I have had to place all my audio and video files in a directory outside of the Amember protection so that it will play properly, which is not ideal.

So in a nutshell it would be good if Amember could cater to allow the playing of both audio and video (html5) behind the Amember security without having to explicitly set the path for each audio and video file.

      Cheers,

      JR

        Jonny, thank you for response.
In our upcoming major update (aMember 4.4.x) we are going to upgrade flowplayer to its latest version which uses HTML5 by default and failback to Flash if necessary. That version will be released approximately in March. I hope it will solve the problem.

          Hi,

Thanks for your info - how do you plan to allow mp3 files to be played?

That is already supported - just use
aMember CP -> Protect Content -> Video,
if you upload an mp3 file it will be treated as audio, and handled correctly. It is already implemented and works fine, you may try at aMember PRO Demo Signup

              Hi,

The issue that I came across using the Flowplayer 'video' to play audio was that the play control was very clunky and impossible to work with in relation customizing its look to fit in with the rest of my site. It was presented as a 'one size' display that was quite large. This is the main reason that I had to look elsware for an audio player that could be modified to fit in with the site's size and coloring.

              Thanks,

              JR

                  Thanks,

One last point and that is, in going forward will each audio and video file need to be explicitly named and stipulated within the Amember application in order to be protected? As mentioned before the is extremely onerous as I have a language learning site with thousands of audio (mp3) files and having to stipulate them explicitly is way too much work.

                  Regards,

                  JR

aMember is very flexible and it is not hard to implement a small module (or use existing one) to make it working exactly as you need. Please contact us via helpdesk, describe what you are selling and how do you want it to work (for example, is there only one level of access, or there are complex access rules) and we will suggest a solution.
