Mediatemple, Hostgator, or other DV hosting?

Hey hey anyone up for a quick review? Basically I am making 10 separate ideas right now and I would like to keep all 10 separate. I am looking for a cost effective way of doing this an am not quite sure how I should work this. I want each idea to be on a separate class C IP address.

I am looking at maybe getting a dedicated virtual package for each idea and was comparing Hostgator and Mediatemple specifically. Is this what I should be looking into, or is there a different type of hosting that would be better?

Also does anyone have any recommendations as far as running scripts on Mediatemple and HostGator go? Thanks for any helpful advice.

(Please none of the usual HostGator fanspam, I would actually like a critical review for the two services if possible as well as any advice about hosting.)

    It's none of the above, but Dreamhost allows you attach a unique IP to each domain for a fee of around two dollars a month (iirc).

    I've seen a few reports that DH aren't the best host around, but I've got a couple of sites on them and haven't had any problems at all. The only thing I don't like about them is that they use their own webstats package, not Awstats.

    (edit) BTW, I'd suggest initially just getting your ideas working on a shared host. Virtual hosting is quite a bit more expensive and to do it for ten projects could cost you a bundle (disclosure: I haven't checked VH prices recently so this might have changed.)

    If you set each site up on the same shared account, you could test validate the idea first, and if you get the traffic then move to a more expensive hosting solution.

    'Dedicated virtual' is also known as VPS (virtual private server), which is a fixed portion of a dedicated server.
    HostGator don't actually offer this type of hosting, but here's a few hosts that do offer good value managed VPS plans: Web Hosting Diary: Best value VPS Hosting plans
