Recommend low cost VPS? (compared to Bluehost VPS?)

I have a small need for some VPS hosting - I don't need much bandwidth or storage, but I do need Cpanel.

I'm already familiar with Bluehost shared hosting, and I see that their lowest priced VPS (which they just started this year) goes for $29.99/mo for 2G ram/30G storage/1TB bandwidth - Cpanel included.

Using Bluehost for comparisons sake, what else is there available for a low cost VPS with Cpanel? Anything lower than BH's $29.99/mo ?

    Can you give any info on the site(s)?

    The problem is you're not going to find "good & cheap" together, let alone with cPanel. The cPanel license itself for a virtual server is about 15 bucks.

    If you're having problems with their shared hosting, you most likely just need a better shared host.

    For that price, you're not going to find a managed server, at least one that's managed by competent admins that know what they're doing. I'd also recommend reading this article:

    Then again, you most likely need a better shared host - more details would help..

      Thanks for your reply, but there's no need for so much detail. I know there's going to be a lot of tendency for people to say "EIG companies suck", but let's keep it simple:

      Bluehost VPS with Cpanel is $29.99/mo.

      Who beats that price for VPS with Cpanel?

    If you want quality, that's not going to cut it. That's one of the reasons they have the poor reputation they do..

        Hi there,

        This is on our vmware/netapp cloud hosting - it has cpanel, but is not a vps. Unless you need root access or have requirments outside of shared hosting, it would be suitable. We utilize CloudLinux and LiteSpeed for all shared/reseller hosting.

        Just having a vps doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be faster or perform better than a well maintained shared environment.

    Forgot to mention, with an unmanaged vps, you also have to factor in things such as commercial software, management, backups etc..

        Interesting - can anyone provide a little info on how this type of Cloud hosting compares to VPS? I did some google searching, but nothing conclusive.

        My issue is mainly access speed for a small website which may get some volume, not so much for storage capacity for content.
