Can anyone recommend the best web hosting based on my requirements?

Hi, I read numerous times that there is no "best host" - it depends on what your needs are and everyone's hosting requirements are different.
I've had experience launching blogs before so I sort of know the way it will roll out. I'm looking for a host that:

1. Will give decent page loading time across the globe (for user experience and SEO).

2. Offers a decent, but inexpensive package to start with so I can progress up to a better package as my blogs traffic increases - I want to start off with something pretty good, but will need something better (faster more secure) in 6 months - year down the road.

If anyone has any recommendations regarding location, company or host type, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks.

I personally use HostGator, the shared hosting Baby plan. A lot of people say they've gone south after being bought by EIG, but I've had no problems thus far.

Baby plan = unlimited everything. Starts at (I think) $6.96/month.

It has VPS and dedicated servers you can upgrade to (plus some Business plan thingy I haven't checked out).

If you want fast, then you might want to check out some of the less-used stuff, like WP Engine. WP Engine, though, is WAY costly.

Would hostgators VPS be good quality? I was with them before but I was advised to move away.

Why so? Did you experience problems that forced you to move?

          I dunno about HG's VPS.

Actually no in fairness now I was using a very basic hosting plan with Hostgator and I can't really say anything bad about them, their instant chat and customer service was more helpful that I could imagine for what I was paying.

Hi, yes I can, I'll be very concise:

I am launching another blog with a decent amount of written content, images and videos.

The blog will target the globe - not any specific country.

I will need to keep on a budget for the first 6 months and upgrade thereafter so I was hoping to find a suitable host that will facilitate this.

      Thanks.

I'm with Graham on this one.....I have basic shared accounts with Hostgator & justhost, but all of my main sites are at WPengine on the 10x sites for $99/pcm package. They've got an amazing support team, great set-up, and its rock solid.

Not the cheapest, but I do believe that you get what you pay for.

    Hi Domain 1,

Personally, I do not believe that being able to
meet hosting needs get much better than Hostgator.

And since you have been with them before, you
might already know that everything they "touch"
    seems to turn to gold.

They are very, very good at what they do. And their
customer service is like no other.

My gut tells me that you will be in good hands if you
let Hostgator supply your VPS and dedicated servers
    needs.

    Something to think about.

    All the very best,

    Alodie

I could have swore I answered a post like this just a few days ago. (Did WF hiccup again?)

    1. Will give decent page loading time across the globe (for user experience and SEO).
No host can give fast "global" times. For that, you need a paid CDN for the static content, and multiple geographic redundant servers for the dynamic content. (Think Google.)
    - For the "best" speed to USA/Canada/Europe, look at NY/NJ, or London/Amsterdam.
    - For best Asia/Canada/USA, look at California.

    2. Offers a decent, but inexpensive package to start with so I can progress up to a better package as my blogs traffic increases - I want to start off with something pretty good, but will need something better (faster more secure) in 6 months - year down the road.
A host like Site5 has lots of server locations to choose from.

Those are all good hosts that aren't EIG owned with great support and performance. All of them have good start up plans so you can start with less than $10 a month, which is what most people on this forum look for.

HG is taking a nose dive as far as I'm concerned. If you do your own research you'll easily see that HG is having problems.

Perhaps you'll also realize that there are numerous other hosts out there that you can easily grow your business/hosting needs with since HG is NOT the only option out there, though so many people treat them that way.

I would personally love to see you at a quality host even if you choose a company I haven't listed. I'd like to see your business succeed with stable/quality hosting rather than you come back to start your own HG complaint thread

Thanks for the mention here guys.

@onlinestorehelp - we're looking into some chat solutions in the future. We had chat at one time however, it's more efficient to solve issue through the support desk however. It also creates a history on the account.

It's something we're looking into though.

Try going for SSD, they load much faster.

Check out StableHost for this if you need shared hosting. They offer fairly consistent service and some good reputation.

Package start at $4 I think. Use their coupon codes available online; there's currently one with 25% off.

Try siteground.com they offer some features similar to wpengine like staging area(Gogeek plan), with considerably costing less.

Only problem i think is, they do not offer monthly plans. Only yearly plans. I tried them for a client's site with their cheapest plan £24.00/year for single site.

And arvixe is good too. I recently moved from hostgator to them.
