Right now everyone is talking about PPV like its the next best thing, better than PPC.

Does anyone have any pointers and FAQs to get started with PPV?

I only know PPV is for HBO boxing where you need to pay per view of great boxing and MMA fights..

Lol. Well it has something to do with tool-bar installs and (as i understand it) popups when users want to go to certain sites.

So..eg. you can enter a list of sites (like cnn.com or myspace.com)...and everytime user goes to this site your offer pops up. ROUGHLY from what i understand how it works.

popups? as in a different window? most people despise popups. They are very annoying. If its a popunder or fly in then that might not be as bad. If its like a popup, I think it would have little effectiveness in comparison to PPC. At least with PPC people are at least searching for something. With the website popup, they aren't looking for anything except the site they typed in to go to... and a popup gets in their way. Their mind will be on getting to the site, not viewing the ad that just popped up.

Unless it is a system where the popup is a full screen forced view for 10 seconds or so like in a Traffic Exchange. Then at least they will pay attention to the ad if only for a moment.

My advice would be to master ppc before you try and take on ppv, while the amount of traffic you can drive is INSANE so are the prices if you aren't very careful with what you're doing.

although i dont have any direct experience with CPV... heres what I've found before i jump into CPV myself...

    - Traffic vance and media traffic seem to be highest rated for ROI

    - Must understand the type of people that are downloading these adware programs (message to market match)- This is where many people screw up. If your promoting the wrong offer you'll fail, but keep trying. Use rotator to test each offer.

A couple key points why CPV can be easier than PPC....

    - No landing page required if you're promoting CPA offers

    - No Ad's have to be written

    - No quality scores

... just search the forum here and you'll find plenty of info on CPV....

This looks like the kind of crap you wouldn't want to be associated to. How many crappy toolbars does the world need?

    Tyrus,

this exactly what i am thinking. But on other places PPV right now is pretty much hyped.

Mind you, trafficvance et al want $1000 (!) just to set this up. For me this smells fishy.

While most despise pop ups, the people who are getting them had to agree to have the adware installed on their computer before it was installed. It's not spyware, which is the much more devious cousin of adware. Is it annoying? Sure, but it's not illegal by any means.
