Recommend good ecommerce traffic source?

Last year I managed to set up a dropshipping website. I have a supplier who gives me a good profit margin, I have a website, and google even seems to send me about 300 hits a month despite the fact I have only done on-site SEO. I've sold about 10 items so far (in 6 months!).

The problem is I have no idea how to get that 300 up to 3000 or 30000 I need to make more sales.

All the advice I have read so far says things like "start a blog" and "post pictures on pinterest". I have written a couple of articles but they brought in all of about 20 hits (and that was just from posting on facebook).

Secondly I've done a lot of research on bigger companies on the net selling what I sell and none of them even seem to have blogs. Yet compete.com estimates them at having around 200 - 300k visitors a month.

How do you get to those kinds of numbers?

Can anyone recommend a good course for this?

    These kind of websites have grown their community they have like big email list, and big social circles and they keep on updating stuff and posting to their circles

    The best thing you can do is right media rich articles having a lot of HQ pics and then share them on pinterest

    You can write articles in "Top 10 list" format which do very well

    Like i don't know your niche but you can do i.e "Top 5 most trending bags this winter" "Top ten Glasses brands that top celebrities use" stuff like that

    Don't just promote your stuff but also write general articles, the more diversity you have in your articles the more chances of pulling high volume of traffic

    To scale it big you need a ppc and media buyings strategy, also direct mail and promotional coupons can allow you to win market shares. Once you started building your mailing list you will have JV opportunities and be able to do swaps to grow your list of customers even further. Don't loose time to create content or blogs yourself, focus on strategic partnerships. Take time to analyze your competition and if you have something interesting for them, contact them and make them an irresistible offer in exchange for the contact information of there clients.

      One of my e commerce sites went from almost no traffic at all, to a decent amount of traffic monthly. I ran a SEO campaign with this one company and it cost me a little less than $100 and within weeks I was ranking on the first page for some really good 'buying' keywords. That site made 30k this year and I literally spent maybe 1hr of my time per month working on it... and that includes customer service.

      I won't post their name here but if ever you're interested, PM me and I'll share their contact info.

      I would also recommend frequent and lots of product updates on your site. I noticed that when I didn't update (I outsourced the updates) traffic and rankings slowed down... when I did frequent updates, traffic and rankings climbed.

      So whatever it is you do, be consistent and you should see results!
