Sponsor My Articles Wordpress Plugin

Hi all,

We created a wordpress plugin that allows blog owners to generate some income from blog article sponsorship. The website is Sponsor My Articles - Sponsorship Wordpress Plugin

I need some advice on the following:

1. The inital plan was to release the free version (lite) on Wordpress.org
unfortunately this has backfired because Wordpress.org requested to have the default sponsor listing to be an opt-in setting which then defeats the purpose of having the paid version. The idea was if they wanted to remove the default sponsor listing then update to the paid version. Do a lot of Wordpress users use the Wordpress.org plugins? Should I remove this?

2. We're looking at joining an affiliate companies but noticed that they charge a sign up fee and then for some a fixed fee for each product sold. What would be the best affiliate company to use as a trial?

3. We may be looking at giving away a few copies for reviews. What needs to be done in this thread?

If you can get to WordPress.org with minor modifications you should definitely pursue that option. The traffic is huge, and it gives credibility to your plugin.

If you want to sell the plugin on WF, you need to get a WSO thread. But I guess you're allowed to give your plugin away on other parts of the site too.

I think you may have hard time selling the business model. It may be a bit hard to understand for both the publisher and the advertiser, but also the number of blogs owners willing to do this are probably limited. I do hope that my fears are misplaced, and this is a great success.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

    What's your excuse?

    Hi Nettiapina,

Thanks for the feedback. Yes I really wanted to pursue adding the plugin to WordPress.org but now I'm contemplating whether there's any point.

I was thinking of getting an explainer video done to help understand the benefits for both the publisher and the advertiser. I think we just need to prove that the plugin makes money for the blog owners.

Thanks for you well wishes, we've got nothing to lose. We're actually using the plugin ourselves. One of the reasons why we created it.

Sure there is mass traffic on Wordpress.org - but a lot want you to work very hard for free and won't consider buying from you.

I would set it up on JVZoo to get your affiliate system going.

You could use the Copy Protect Software License Manager wordpress plugin system to license a trial version and then a full version of your product - integrates with JVZoo

    John,

Decided not to put it on Wordpress even though of the exposure.

With the sales page for JVZoo do you recommend using their system to create the sales page or have one on our website?
