Need Managed VPS hosting (Reliable, Reputable)

Hello,
Can you give me recommendations for an economic, reliable, fast, credible VPS?

Here are my requirements/considerations:

1. Space: would do with less than 1GB (unless with Cpanel I should seek somewhat more?).
2. bandwith: would do with less than 100GB.
3. speed: needs to be very fast, however, I have no idea how to compare the expected speed between various hosting options
4. Unique IP: I want my own, and in the future perhaps an option to have another one (for free, or small amount of money)
5. Operating system: I use PHP, so I guess I need Linux Server.
6. CPU - I have no clue if the number of cores is a factor in my case, should 1 be enough or should I seek some minimum requirement? If so, please elaborate
7. Uptime - Needs to be with no flaws, 99.99%.
8. reputation - please give me recommendation for something I can read reviews about, with credibility and experience in the business (rather than a host that started off one month ago)/
9. I have no clue in hosting, So I guess I need fully managed VPS. (i guess this also means there's no way to have root access in case I ever need it?).
10. Name-servers: I need the host to help me setup nameservers that would be under my own domain name.
11. Cpanel: required
12. 24/7 tech support (Live support preferably; for example, someone that can help me set up password protected directories real time).
13. economic: I hope there's something for a decent price as my bandwith/space req. are relatively low.
14. location: USA (I suppose preferably in the center, so it's equally close to all states)
15. RAM: I really don't know

Anything else I should keep in mind?

All VPS come with their own IPs.
    You can't share IPs.

OP - is there a reason why you are looking for a VPS?

Check out WiredTree. I have been with them for years (as a client). Fully managed, 24/7 phone support, good pricing, great people to work with. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Search here and elsewhere and you'll find tons of good reviews.

Can you give some details on what you're going to be hosting on this VPS? Any problems you're currently facing?

I want to launch a new website,
          1. I heard VPS is faster than Shared, which can effect my SEO
          2. I want to have custom nameservers under my own domain
          3. I want to have my own IP

that's about it, I know most pro-webmasters use at least VPS,
o If there's even a slight advantage to it, or a reasonable chance for such, then I'm willing to pay around $50 instead of shared hosting price.

Well, that's not always the case - it depends. A VPS is going to dedicate more resources to you and would give more control for customization and what not.

If you're set on a VPS, I'd recommend at least 2GB of RAM if you're looking to use cPanel.

Nameservers can be made custom for any type of hosting, it's just DNS entries. You'll typically find this with reseller accounts and above.

Ok, why is 2GB needed for Cpanel though? isn't that just some web interface that is active only on my end as the admin, and only when I use it?

If it dedicates more resources, it should be faster...

It's not that simple. Even though it's a control panel, there's tons of other processes going on:

      control panel
      web server
      database
      DNS
      security
      features
      backups
      the list goes on....

Sure, would it run on less, yes. Would it run like crap as soon as your sites start using resources? Yes, as it would most likely peg the CPU & RAM.

That's just the control panel itself, we're not talking about other features such as automated backups like R1Soft - that requires an agent, which uses a bit of resources - don't value your data? Then opt out, save a few bucks but be at risk.

Want it secured? It needs a firewall, which also uses a bit of resources.

Want all of those features found in shared/reseller hosting? Those things take resources.

If you don't you'll end up with a server that's already maxed out that's not even being used...what's the point then?

Of course, that's just a brief explanation, there's much more to it.

    Hello Goonie,

Your current request will fit most VPS providers so what you should be looking for would be the price and reputation of the services you want.

    We would personally recommend:
    - Future Hosting = Fast servers, Cheap Prices, Different level of support options
    - SERVInt = High end servers
Tip: Many of these host have coupon codes that you can use for new clients.

Spent a lot of time searching servers for ourselves (Shared hosting, VPS, and Dedicated server). Choosing the right VPS server is important as you don't want your files being held hostage; the two we mentioned above have some great reputation.

Another option is Site5, we've used their Cloud reseller and service is good though haven't tried VPS

    thanks for the comments,
right now I'm considering Knownhost, I think their support should be better/faster than wiredtree according to some reviews I've read. I'm thinking about their 1.5GB RAM plan, which should also be somewhat more economical than wiredtree... and as far as I understand, 1.5GB should be enough for Cpanel.. any thoughts?

I know you're going to get a million replies but I'll tell you right now. I've been with Linode for 2 years and I couldn't have been any happier. They are totally legit. Big company, great service, great support. I previously wasted my time with the big name guys like VPS.net and other big mainstream companies but they turned out to be a total hassle. If you're going VPS...you should look into Linode or PRGMR and not mess around with anything else. I've gone through over a dozen webhosts over the past 8 years. I've seen a lot.

Well I'm looking for a managed VPS, looking at their website, Linode may be good for people who need unmanaged, their managed service costs $100/month...

Known Host KnownHost.com - Your high quality managed VPS hosting provider is a great hosting company. Not only do you have your own Cpanel, but you have WHM,, (Web Host Manager). This is a powerful control dashboard over all aspects of your web site. Spec for spec, they are a great all-around hosting company.

I am not an affiliate for their company, but I probably should spend time to promote their service.

The very best part of what they do is their 24-hour, rapid response support. It makes all the difference to have extremely professional, knowledgeable, and expert assistance. I have had frustrating experiences with customer support at domain registrars.

I would not recommend your average domain registrar as a web hosting company, no matter how cheap their hosting may be. You may find yourself stuck between a rock and a hard place one day, like I did.

For example, they recommended Softaculous over Fantastico as an auto-installer for applications such as Wordpress, etc. It turns out that Softaculous has way, way more available applications than Fantastico, hands down. I have only had great results with Softaculous, on their servers.

Personally I use knownhost i think they are reputable at least from what i Seen.

never had any issues with them and what i mostly like is the customer support... no matter what i need when i open a support ticket they answer within 10-20 minutes if not quicker.

They helped me with a lot of issues I had. As far as the actual hosting goes I host around 6 sites on just one account im using VPS with upgraded ram.

It seems to me QHoster.com VPS deals are worth every cent you pay for their service.
They offer over 90 payment method, free DNS service, instant activation, etc.
Prices are affordable and servers are well-balanced.
