What is the ideal result for search count and competitor

Hi, I am new in online business.
I know that we have to get the keyword that is in high of search count and low in competitor. But I am not sure about what is the ideal result for the search count and the competitor. (Example: weight gain medicine. search count:8,800
Competitor: 46,300. Is it worth to use this keyword). Can any warrior give me some opinion.
Thanks

First off, you should make sure that is a worthwhile market before you do any key word research. Look and see how many adwords ads there are. If a lot, it is a good market since people are willing to spend money to advertise.

I always go for about 20 - 30 thousand for competition - check google to confirm. Less is better of course. Search count is usually over 90 searched per day - that is with "phrase match" for the keyword.

That being said, if it is a hot market you could go as high as 100,000 for competition or lower for search count.

    Hope that helps - Kim

Honestly, you are going to get a ton of cookie cutter answers, but there isn't a "number answer" that is right, in my opinion anyway.

As far as number of searches, it really depends on how profitable the keyword is. I mean, if you can find a keyword that is something like "buy product XYZ" that gets 40 searches a month and you can get the number one spot on google, chances are you are going to make some decent money from that. However, most people will tell you to look for keywords that are being searched for at a minimum of 30 times a day or more.

As far as competition goes, what you really want to look at and pay attention to is the results in google when you search for that keyword without quotes. Pay close attention to what kinds of pages are ranking and whether or not you have the skills to outrank them. If you do, it doesn't matter if there are 20 gazillion results.
