A2 Hosting - Impressing A Hard To Impress Marketer
Let's Talk About A2 Hosting
Hi, I'm GODOVERYOU - otherwise known as GOY.
For those that don't know me I've been a marketer for 7-8 years now with a long history of placing high demands on hosting resources through my various activities. I've used everything from 1-domain shared hosting up through 8 core dedicated servers over the years and always put the hardware through it's paces no matter what I'm doing.
You might say that I have a well deserved reputation for seeing just how well a host really lives up to their promises. That makes me a pretty hard customer to make a really positive impression on because I've been there and done that with just about every kind of package available.
Recently I decided to test a new-to-me host and see if their SSD hosting could perform under pressure and that would be A2 Hosting. They have a representative that posts on this forum with some frequency in the even you should want to make contact with them.
I went with the "Web Hosting - Prime Web Hosting - SSD" and paid 3 years upfront for a little over $320.00.
The account was setup and delivered promptly and initially operated very smoothly and without a hiccup.
As anyone who knows me would likely suspect, I run some more demanding and unconventional scripts that are normally far outside of a normal user's demands. That being the case, I ended up needing some slight degree of customization for my account.
I opened a support ticket in the middle of the night (since that's when I listen to loud EBM and live up to my BH nature) and the ticket was answered within a very reasonable amount of time given the hour at which it was submitted.
The customization of my account was done quickly. They were even able to trouble shoot a problem with the .htaccess file that my scripts were causing and that is something that is normally outside of the realm of normal 'support' with most hosts - so they should be recognized for going above and beyond in that respect.
As I am preparing to load traffic through the domain, the hardware has performed flawlessly and is extremely snappy. In fact it has performed far better than other higher end shared hosts (ASmallOrange/Wiredtree) and vastly superior to generic come-one-come-all hosts like hostgator (even their reseller plans.)
In fact, the only 'service' I have that performs more quickly at this point are my own dedicated servers - but not by much! That's really very impressive considering the low cost and shared resources of A2 Hosting's plan.
At this point, I would recommend A2 Hosting over other similar providers, particularly if you are even considering a lesser host such as hostgator for instance.
As I begin to really draw traffic through the account I'll be happy to update the review but at this point I'd give them an A on hardware performance and a A+ on support given the nature of my really quite unique needs.
