The other day I launched a site on 000webhost. My paid hosting account was almost out of disk space, so I had to host it with 000webhost, which is free. I thought free just meant limitations on how much bandwith and disk space I could have. So I launched my website. After a few days I noticed my conversions were very low. I was using a template that has usually brought in 50-60% and I was only getting 2%. My site looked fine, so I did not know what the problem was.

I decided to go on another computer and check my site out. It turns out, 000webhost places an adf.ly ad before your website if it is hosted with them. The ad did not show up in the browser I used to log into my account, but it showed up on every other computer in my house. They load your website up with ads. NEVER use them.

Please, just pay for hosting. Its not very expensive, and I will keep all my websites hosted on fatcow now and just pay to upgrade my space. Kinda pissed that I had wasted a few days.

Just don't use a free host ever. They also disable all kinds of important stuff.

Akismet won't work on some of them

You get what you pay for. You drive traffic to them and they get ad impressions

    Did you contact them?

They say they will not use ads and banners on your site.

    From their site:
"000webhost guarantees no hidden costs, no adverts, and no restrictive terms."

    Again in free fantastic features:
    "No Ads, no banners!"

If you still see it then you can login to control panel and disable the ads. The ads come up in non active sites.

Why would anyone in internet marketing / business want to use free hosting anyway? Those are just for people with zero knowledge about business or just want to create websites for hobby. I would rather use free web 2.0 sites like Blogger or Weebly rather than free hosting. If you want to make serious money from your sites, paid hosting is the way to go,
