Hostgator VPS in 2014?

I am planning to move from shared to VPS, because I've reached their CPU limit several times already (on "hot" hours). Also, 25 simultaneous connections is causing problems for me a lot as well, because on "hot" hours, I go beyond this limit often.

I'm no looking for any speed improvement, because even on shared plan loading speed was okey to me.

Basically I just need a plan which could hold at least 300 (up to 800-1000 on peak hours) users online at the same time. I don't host any videos or anything heavy, I just have a few blogs with articles and few images in each article and like this I don't consume a lot of resources anyways. But because of a high traffic, I need to move from a shared plan. Even with a shared plan I had no problems with ~200-250 users online at the same time and getting around 5000-8000 unique visits each day, so I don't think I need to order the best VPS plan.

I'm thinking about their new "snappy 1000". It has 1GB of RAM, 1 core CPU, 60GB of storage (which is more than I need) and 1TB of bandwidth (I use now around 150-300GB each month, so more than I need as well).

Anyone here tried their new VPS that are now called "snappy"? Anyone here moved from shared to one of their snappy plans?

I wouldn't choose hostgator in the first place. They've gone downhill since the buyout. Sites are slower and support is slower. I will be switching myself.

Best to find a different host.

You may use a managed VPS from a2hosting.com or 1qcloud.com.
These companies have plans which contain many useful resources and their uptime is high. Servers have no downtime.

since hostgator acquired by EIG has lost its popularity. Hostgator was popular for reseller and shared hosting, for VPS you should look for alternative options.

We use Snappy 8000 the most advanced one, they're good, but sometimes they can be a headache. Their servers went down 2 time more than 4-5 hours in the last 6 months.

I'd go with Hostwinds. You'll thank me later. Support responds within seconds 24/7. Half the price of Hostgator. I've got a dedi with them couldn't be happier.
