SimilarWeb vs SEM Rush

I'm considering finally investing in one of these competitive analysis tools, and from what I'm able to tell, these two are the best in the business.

For those of you who have worked with one or the other what has been your experience, for those who have worked with both tools, which would you prefer?

If you think there's something else out there better than these, please share and tell us why.

Thanks in advanced!

Having been in the industry for a long time I can tell you that both tools are worth the price, but I prefer SimilarWeb. I have paid for both tools, but continue to rely on Similarweb more.

SEMrush has a lot of data aimed at PPC managers, but I find the data accuracy to be all over the place. From what I understand they use scraping, which means that they get an accurate view of a SERP but doesn’t give them the insights into the keywords used by real humans. I also have some issues with the SEMRush dashboard in that it shows top keywords per organic and paid, but makes it hard to see how they compare head to head. Rush do offer organic rankings which is something lacking in Similarweb.

SimilarWeb’s data is based off something that they call a panel, which is like looking at sample of real human web traffic behavior. I find it to be much more accurate because I know which keywords are being used and can see the traffic being driven.

I also find Similarweb’s dashboard more user friendly, they show the split in traffic between organic and paid. They have a quick filter to remove branded terms which I love when doing kw research. I also love how you can compare traffic share (paid and organic) among different websites, so I can see easily when I lose positions against my key competitors.

Overall I think Similarweb is a much better investment if you have to choose only one.

Awesome response, this is exactly what I was looking for! I'm looking into investing into competitive analysis tools for my business, but since we're not an SEO firm, and I'm really just looking to invest in this for our own benefit, I want to get the most bang-for-our-buck.

Aside from these two, are there any other similar tools you would suggest?
