Steve,

I respectfully disagree with you on this point.

Having lived through 2 completely different careers before IM, the industry specific trade shows in those niches were also NOT cheap affairs.

Specific to ASE09, I agree that the hawkers pick up a lot of the tab for general admission folk, however the sessions are what drive up the price for gold or platinum passes, + the limited # of people attending (compared to a show like CES or the like)

I will think about this, however knowing how the exhibit hall model works in the offline world and how they are approaching this gives me a reason for pause. Something like a get rich quick seminar.

I will also be in attendance. I believe that it is less popular on WF because there is such a wide mix of people. I do agree that some (if not a majority) are affiliates and should go. If anyone would like to meet up and talk about getting some business going together...I'm in NYC today...feel free to contact me!
