Default Best Internet Marketing Conventions in UK, Europe, the world?

Hi i am based in the north of England in Leeds and I want to get to know people who do the same thing as me so we can help support each other, exchange ideas/products and have regular meets but i don't really know the best way to go about this.

I have been looking online and I see that internet world appears to have a big convention in london every year which is great but if there was any decent convention in the north of England would be even better? Also how much do these conventions typically cost and how long do they normally last? Any recomendations?

If there are any really good ones in america I would be interested in going there too if the price was right.

There's a lot to be aware of when it comes to attending IM-based conventions. A few years ago, they used to be, generally, very expensive - $1,000-$5,000 to attend. The last year, has seen those prices drop to under $1,000 for many.

Some of the premier ones in the US still command higher prices($2,000 for The Big Seminar, I believe)...but, many times, you sign up for one via an affiliate link and get bundled extra from the affiliate for registering. So be on the look out for those.

Be careful, too - many of them are pitch-fests that are designed to present you 90 minutes of carefully chosen content ,which 'bait' you under the guise of giving you just enough information to move ahead with a concept but 'not quite enough' to really get the job done properly.

The best ones I've been to have been done by Rich Shefren but these are for his clients and they do not sell anything and designed and set up to yield maximum benefit for his clients. Eben Pagen does this with GuruMastermind, as well.

Big Seminar(US-based) many will call a pitch-fest - and it is. But it IS their premier networking event that is awesome for connecting with other marketings and making key, important relationships - plus, the teaching are excellent. You can learn plenty without pulling a credit card. (and do yourself a favor, don't bring them to you to the floor - seriously, 9 times out of 10, you'll be just fine without whatever is being sold).

I"ve noticed many of the events the last year or so are not really organized like, say, Big Seminar, which happens like clockwork every year(and used to happen twice a year) but are set up alongside large product launches(Mike Filsaime's are a good example) - as extra reasons to buy a higher-ticket item(and if you can't attend, they'll get the DVD or streamed vidoes to you). So keep that in mind, as well. (Duration is 2-3 days, normally)

My introduction with IM w/ my non-IM business 2 1/2 years ago was through Jim Edwards - he does not do events too often but he is doing a cruise in December with a focus on membership sites. Connect yourself with a person's event that you have done some research on AND you get a good, gut reaction of integrity with - there's a lot of really bad folks out there looking just to grab your money - this is well worth your time.

It's a big investment in a time of tight money - and that money may very well be put into action-oriented events with your business as opposed to attending a seminar. Ponder that seriously. It's all sexy 'n good, but getting down 'n dirty and developing a product and selling it, is really cool! Cost/Benefit Analysis is a must when yr spending this money (and keep in mind, many of these are designed to sell you products and services so you may escaping greatly depleted)

Connected to that, many of them sell DVDs a month or two after their events that you can get at a cheaper rate that it would cost you to attend.

The main drawback - and this is is a big one if you are need of making connections with other marketers for JV opportunities - is no personal connection with other attendees.

Hey there Mark,

I started my IM experience with a guy called Ken McCarthy up in Chicago (which is about 11,000 miles from where I live) but I've been to two of his events over the years and he does have the skills and reputation to bring world class people to his events.

He's also just closing off the first intake for his UK based seminar on the 26/27th of sept. in London.

Details can be found here systemintensive . com

Mate - if I can get the cash together in the next few weeks, I'd probably go to this event myself.

PS: Just attended the world innet summit down here in NZ - some good speakers but WAY more "pitchy" than what Ken's events ever are.

If you are interested in Affiliate Marketing, the big convention in the US is Affiliate Summit. They just had it in New York last week and it's coming up again in January in Las Vegas.

If you are interested in an event in the UK, check out www.internetmarketingreview.com which is published by the two Neils. They are having an event in September, details on the site.

I saw the two Neil's a few years back as speakers at a seminar. They are very good speakers!

Hi,
I know of one UK marketer that tried running seminars in manchester but found he could fill the seminar better by hosting in London. This was a few years back now.

Frank Garon sometimes hosts seminars in the UK, you may want to do a search on his name and see when his next event is scheduled.

I don't remember their costs, but they (costs) are less than some of the larger IM seminars here - like Armand Morin's Big Seminar coming up later this fall in Las Vegas.

Yanik Silver also does one with a spy/underground theme each year that folks seem to like as well.

IMC - the Internet Marketing Center also holds seminars around the US and Canada for $99 (at least that's what I paid about 2 years ago) - and it had some good information, but was completely based on their products, so you need to make sure you're familiar with other products out there so you can make informed decisions. E.G. I'd recommend Autoresponse Plus over Mailloop if you were going to host your own Autoresponder, things like that.

Also I'm hosting a bunch of warriors to get together this October here in Raleigh to continue a tradition started by Eric Louvier last year - and you're more than welcomed to attend.

best,
--Jack
