Is there a lot of brainstorming that goes on or are there a lot of newbs jsut askign questions.

A little of both actually. There's nothing structured. It's simply a bunch of people having lunch chatting about marketing, etc.

It could also be a good opportunity to partner up with someone. I partnered with another marketer as a result of the first lunch and we worked together for 2 years and made some good money.

Bring an open mind.

Sure...there are two different IM meetups in nyc. Pretty sure they are both open to anyone (you have to join on meetup.com) and you don't have to live in ny. You just have to get there

I've been to this one a few times: NY Internet Marketing Group

Basically there is a presentation and networking time. The presentations were pretty good, especially considering that the presenters were doing it for free. It's held monthly in a private conference room on 23rd st & 6th ave, and there is a $10 cover that pays for the room and pizza. The atmosphere was pretty friendly, and there was a good mix of people with different levels of experience. I'll definitely go again when they are covering a topic I'm interested in.

Here's the other one: Internet Marketers of NY

I haven't been to this one yet, but I'm definitely interested. I RSVP'd for the next one on March 9th. Looks like a group of people who casually meet at the Molly Wee Pub and talk about IM. It seems similar to the lunch in this thread.

All kidding aside, you can talk marketing all day and not talk about your niche. These lunches are meant to meet, chat, talk about what works for you, find a partner...whatever you want.

Ok, bull by the horns.

I'll say my old stand-by: Ruby Tuesday's at the Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus, NJ. It's located at the intersection of State Routes 4 and 17 about 10 miles or so from the GWB.

This will be a "Buy your own lunch" event.

Date - Let's say Saturday, March 20th. That gives us just under 2 months to clear the day.

Time: 11:30am outside the restaurant (inside the mall). Go in at noon.

How does that sound?

Although Ruby Tuesdays does not require a reservation, I do like to give them heads up if we plan on having a good crowd so they can reserve a section for us.

down the street. in my prior 'life/career' I made quite a few visits

funny thing for me is that I will have to leave at about 9am to make it
