Local Event: NY/NJ Lunch Anyone?

@sailorjohn - I'll pm you re Auction Spy - I have some undercover ideas for you!!!!

@mllnsgrl - well I think we should make this a monthly or bi-monthly event. Maybe even get somewhere where we can do a presentation, have internet access etc - it would be good to get the collective input from everybody...somebody mentioned there are some in NYC - maybe we can crash those!!!

Simon, I agree. There are a couple of IM Meetups in NYC, although for me, the drive wasn't bad - about an hour. It would be nice to meet in a quieter place where we could all share ideas, like a church basement or something

I have to agree that the 'wash' from the mall crowd made it
hard to hear at times.

just not easy to find places to meet! hopefully some ideas
for places will surface.

We did one of these at a hotel in NJ once. The restaurant had a private room and we had over 50 people. And it was only $15 a head.

Problem is, you need enough people to make that work.

We can always reserve space at a hotel meeting room, but then who gets to pay for that?

Such are the logistics for these lunches.

In any case, I enjoyed myself Saturday and look forward to the next one.

I am with you 101% - it is hard to find places to meet where the
upfront fee(s) are not painful! had a time finding meeting places
for some projects and found out that the PJ Whelihans near me
will let me have a side room for $65 (which includes coffee/tea and
some 'finger' food) with the understanding that people will buy
lunch. they also let me plug my VAIO into the big screen tv's HDMI
and run powerpoints!

maybe some of the locations 'up' in NJ & NY will do the same?

I am willing to hit the phone and see what can be arranged....BUT
this is your 'deal', so let me know if I can jump in and help out here?

Congrats on getting together. Too much of a hike for me from Suffolk County (Long Island), and couldn't be out of the office the whole day.

Not to steal your thunder, but we should try to get one here on Long Island as well... Jersey people are of course welcome

Simon.. I would definitley meet up at those NYC Conferences. Will have to check it out on the web this week. That sounds interesting.

Mike.. Also, in that mall is American Joe's which I used to go to all the time. The front room is a large bar with some tables - at least you could walk around and talk. There's not much mall noise there, but there is a tv going I think.

Sometimes Libraries have back area rooms also.

I hope you all don't meet for a couple weeks now, because I"m recovering from a broken ankle and can't drive yet :0

I'm bummed I couldn't stay longer!

In any case, I'm up for meeting anytime in North Jersey (fortunately, the mall was only 15minutes from me) and maybe in the city.

If you guys need help organizing something, I'd be glad to do what I can. A lot of town libraries let you use their space, so that could be an option.
