I just see these events as an opportunity for the "gurus" to give a TINY piece of information and then upsell their course(s) to their captive audience.

I remember buying a DVD set (which I returned for a refund) from another "Internet Summit" event in London. It was quite a few presenters and NONE of them showed a step-by-step system and ALL of them talked about how great they are and their own "system" valued at $1997 but if you get it today it is "onlyE $497 blah blah blah.

The IM industry needs some GENUINE people and not sleazy dishonest marketers.

i think i kind of agree with chuckles on this one. i have attended some goal setting, you can do anything kind of seminars, it seems that all they do is get you excited so that you buy their courses at a one time only price!!! its just like upsells in IM and i HATE upsells!!!

Dear All,

Having started in IM 5 years back the best way I personally learn't many things by listening and watching what other people do!

Think about it you visit various product sites but you dont buy them all do you?

No. You dont!

But you do learn a little something here and a little something there!

End of the day when you put it all together it amounts to knowledge!

Point is no one can force you to do anything you dont want to.

No one will give everything away for free either.

Be smart learn lots and only buy if you have feedback on the person selling you the product!

Hope that gives some of you some direction

Well I am going, not to learn only, but to network!
I think meeting with other marketers for a whole weekend will motivate me, give me new friends and JV partners.
If you are affraid of the "upsells" then keep your wallet at home, but do come to network and inspire each other.

I attended the Friday and Saturday and thought it was brilliant!

I learnt a lot of stuff, particularly about Facebook.

I just regret missing George's talk on the Sunday

The event itself was superb. Of course, speakers were selling products however no one forced you to buy.

They gave away some excellent information from the stage as well.

Thank you to George for putting this on, I hope he made some good money ;-)

And as for the audio/visual company that did the mics and projector...I'd give up right now.

Yes, there were a lot of audio/video problems werent there?

I too could not make the whole event - only got there on Saturday so missed George's pearls of wisdom.

anyone know if the videos (whatever the quality) of the event have been uploaded anywhere?

I attended all three days after finishing my night shift! There was plenty of information from most of the speakers even though there was a lot of upselling going on! I made some really good contacts and had plenty of lubrication with some of them too!

IMO Friday had the most valuable information but there were some nuggets on the other days as well!

The AV side of things however was another story! I used to run events similar to that technically and lets just say I would have been out of a job very quickly if I had run an event that bad!!

Still I really enjoyed the weekend so thanks to George and the gang for putting the event on for us. Look out for my product coming soon as a result of attending this event!!
