After reading this brilliant thread about the value of relationships, I thought it might be a good time to pose the question.

Well lookie here! i came into this part of the forum hoping to find something aussie related and look what i just found!

I had a little aussie mastermind group happening over a month ago which began from a bunch of aussies doing a video course.

Anyhow we all ended up meeting on Skype - the group has been disbanded for not too long now but it was a good opportunity to meet a few more IMers.

If ever this gets off the ground please keep me in the loop!

Yes I'd be interested definitely. I'm not greatly experienced in Internet Marketing, however always interested in learning new things and sure that I have experience in both internet marketing and offline marketing strategies (personal assistant- greatest part of my job is marketing both online and offline) that I can share with others. Anyone else going to the World Traffic Summit? For those around Brissy/Gold Coast I suggest attending this event that I'm going to, looks like fun:

A word of advice, the event is in Gold Coast and if you live ages away in Brisbane like me and don't want to travel there everyday they do offer discount accomodation after you purchase the tickets. I had a look at it but I've found a cheaper place right next door at paradiseresort.com.au

I'm in Melbourne too . I'm a web designer/developer and have been dabbling in IM for a year now. Looking to learn more and take it more full time.

Hi Steve,

I received their info on this event early via email, when they asked their subscribers to suggest some 'gurus' to be invited as speakers, and they would then try to get their commitments. It is now only 4 weeks to the event, and it seems to me they are struggling to find reputable speakers, with Anik Singal being the only one I know. I then realised they charge $97...? If they had great speakers with a great training program and not simply aimed at selling their courses, I would be prepared to pay. If they don't have many well know speakers, I might consider to go if it was free of charge. Otherwise, I think I have changed my mind. I actually emailed them a few weeks ago and told them that I think they may struggle to fill the event when they charge $97 while 4 out of eight speaker positions are still not filled today and 3 out of the 4 commited speakers are rather unknown individuals. Hmmm....

Is anyone else going to the Darren Rowse (problogger) training day in Melbourne next week? I'm flying down from Brisbane on Monday. I'll be staying overnight with an IM friend and brainstorming ideas over a nice shiraz, then spending Tuesday at the training day before flying home on Tuesday night.

lol... you didn't miss much. Speakers were very average, but at least I mad e a few good connections.

It's a tough gig getting good speakers out here. If you can't fill the room, they won't come. And vice versa. The problem is that a traffic event should only draw established IM'rs who have started their biz... but the crowd there didn't seem to be so.

Brett acknowledged that it was a test event and wasn't over joyed at the result.

Yeah I agree, I was actually a little disappointed in the whole event, there was some good information but nothing I'd hadn't heard before or that made me go "Wow!"...

Hopefully the World Internet Summit that's coming up in Feb 2011 (i think that's the date) will be a lot better, the last one I went to in New Zealand was really good.

WIS is ok... once again, it's a pitch-fest, so those events are wearing a bit thin.

Masterminding is a great idea... but...

we'd have to have some sort of ground rules in place as well as strong commitment from everyone to stick with it.

I have been a in a few groups before and it can become disorganised chaos.

If not approached properly, it becomes a time water in my opinion.

Not sure if we need a blog or I can probably set up a private area on my blog. Open to all suggestions.

I poked my head up about this about this time last year and it never went any further due to my getting busy on something else, which I'm very regretful about.

So a good start would be to hook up on Skype and get a group started that way...

I'm also in the process of starting up a blog site to give us a central location. I'll keep you posted on that.

If there are any other groups already meeting, they can be added onto the site as well. Just let me know.

Well for what it is worth - I've created a new website - Melbourne MasterMind Group | Poeple from all walks of Business – Getting Together.

There is a link on there for another website that people can find listed meetings in their area.

There are a few listed for Melbourne, but you can use it to look for meetings worldwide.

I hope that helps someone find themselves a group they can benefit from.
