Hi

Im looking to get a few Melbournians together for a meetup. If we can get at least 3 people including myself we can start organizing it all.

Im busy next weekend 16th & 17th.

But can do it after that. And most times during the week are fine as long as they are after 6pm. I work and live in the sth east.

Im thinking coffee, tea and topics. We can begin with everyone introducing eachother, general chit chat and then come up with one or two topics via this thread and then finish with a bit of an open forum at the end.

So if your from Melbourne Australia and want to get together with some other Melbourne based warriors then reply here and we can begin organizing.

Borders, they have 3 in the city.
State library.
Bar, any bar in Brunswick/Footscray area.
Outdoors on the grass somwhere or St Kilda if its not too windy.

Adding meat to an idea:

(It is the 25th of November - more money will change hands in the next 30 days than any other 30 day period in the year. How many dollars will your inactivity leave on the table before the 25th December? - let's meet next Tuesday in the city)

I like the idea of meeting up with real people interested in IM. Nobody around me (including the Marketing Manger of the company I work for) knows what the hell I am talking about and my passion for IM runs so deep I cannot let it go. Christmas is fast approaching and meeting like-minded people to tap into some of that money would be a Christmas blessing. Count me in.

Venue: There is a coffee shop opposite Flinders Street station in the Victoria Uni building and it has a decent sized room off the main area and I have seen groups gathered there and it is a student type of environment. Could be a good, central place to meet.

Agenda: We are here to better understand how to make money through the internet. Could I suggest an agenda of three topics:
1st - Earning income from Facebook Ads including a focus on Australian program managers e.g. Commission Monster (very few people know how FB ads work in Australia so it is ripe for the picking - this wave is still forming out the back).
2nd - Affiliate marketing systems e.g Affilorama by Mark Ling and The Affiliate Code by Mike Jones (Ken Walker) (This creates models we can study and compare/contrast to our own efforts) then bring focus on things like getting traffic and conversions - any marketing insights you learn in AM apply to anything in IM).
3rd - Earning income from offline businesses, e.g. Managing Social Media for small local businesses (Kate Buck) and engaging knowledge by people like Jack Mize to create our own and individual client base, but with a group we can bounce ideas off. (This builds our individual expertise as IMs consulting to offline businesses by managing their online presence - this market ain't gonna go away.)

To get the ball rolling I would be happy to do a 10 minute opening on each of these topics and then throw it over for group discussion subject to a few conditions:
- nobody ****cans anything - we meet to build our understanding and energies and to help each other grow (despite out personal limitations).
- any comments, observations or input must add value to the underlying concepts (if you cannot add value to a particular topic let it go bye - in this group you do not have to have an opinion to belong - we will learn and grow more if we encourage people to share and then look for our growth in what they say)
- egos are left at the door - function, income and lifestyle (design your lifestyle then building a business that supports your lifestyle is the key focus of the group) - we meet to understand more about what we are doing, what is going on around us in the IM/AM world and to encourage and build individual self-esteem and confidence in what we are doing once we leave the group meeting.

P.S. Is anyone good at taking notes or recording the session for publication (warts and all)?

Ok anyone for this week or holidays are the priority, I would say this is this most highly active time of year for sales, so if we miss out on important advice it could be the difference between a good December or bad. Also reading thru a few post above I would prefer any meeting we have is not to sell or pormote your individual products just advice and good ideas about marketing in general. Me and user Pete Ridell have already had one meeting so lets keep up the trend..!!
