What were you thinking of in terms of putting something together? I am in Tasmania-an ideas group?

What did you have in mind Molokodigital? With the IM world taking such a global focus these days, regionalising online efforts may be a bit pointless really. Unless, we bind together as a supportive group that looks after its own!? Aussie Marketing Mafia - Wonders from (the) 'Don' Under. .... I'm now officially banned from the group.

Instead of everybody keeping an eye on this thread, how about we make some suggestions?

    1. Why do we want to meet up?
    2. What would we do?
    3. Where would we meet up?

I agree. This thread has been a bit too much talk and not enough proactive action.

      1. To exchange ideas and inspiration.
      2. Offer advice, ask for advice, bounces ideas off of each other. Knowing more successful people in our industry will always pay dividends.
      3. In in Sydney, so maybe in a cafe? Somewhere relatively quiet seems to make sense.

    Hi All

I am currently in the US, but will be moving to Sydney around the 21st of July, 2014. I come from a web dev background with strong SEO and Internet Marketing skill set.

I have a new job as Head of SEO for a company in the CBD. Looking to live in the Potts Point area and also get involved with Australia version of the HUB (Looking for Shared Office Space? Visit Hub Australia Coworking.).

I have put on a number of seminars in a number of different ways to either drive traffic to your website or product development, funnels, building and running membership site, etc.

For sure I would be very interested in finding like minded people that want to make money online OR build businesses that look to the web for traffic / leads.

First off I would like to meet locals, but then we can move our systems online to expand our reach and ability to share information.

If you are interested in this or have other ideas, lets talk.

I think it makes little sense to have physical meetups - Australia is a vast continent and we are spread out far and wide - an online mastermind group makes more sense, and for that we have any number of media -Google+ hangouts are free and effective. We need to know what everyone is doing really, what kind of projects and then we can see how we can help each other - the initial idea as a rallying call for 'Aussies' is compelling initially...but what does it mean, we are all individuals trying to build businesses online-which is a global medium. see what I mean? Personally I am working on a membership site aimed at helping newbies with WordPress and building online biz's...

Well said. We all know how vast Australia is but unfortunately some people think Australia is just Melb and Sydney. I used to live in Melb, but it's not necessary to live in a big city to do internet marketing. Currently I live in a small beachside town (pop 800) and I have 2 clients in Melb, 1 in Syd, and 1 in Brisbane who I generate leads for.

So Yes, it makes more sense to utilize technology for online meetups.

While I do agree with the above two comments to a degree, I also see a big advantage to sitting down with people in the same room.

I work online all the time. I have people all around the world that I have never met before other than online. I could never leave my home other than for food if I so chose to do that. In fact I have done that before. It is easy to be absorbed in the online world and not make real contact with people.

Sitting in a group, talking things out with like minded people often leads to breakthroughs that may not happen so well online. It does take time to get to a specific location and the commitment to doing that often is well worth it.

It we choose to make this entirely an online meeting arrangement, why limit it to Australia? Why even start something new? We could just as easy stay on Warrior Forum and have access to the world....

For me, I want some of that social interaction and group dynamics that only happen when you get together with people.

Am I alone in this thought?

This thread has been going on for ages with no luck.
Seems to be mainly people who are new here and/or with few few posts.
I don't get out often except for medical appts and shopping.
But I want to see what others will actually come up with...perhaps make a decision?

Nice concept, but not sure of the scope the original poster of this thread had in mind? Connect for what purpose? Presuming the concept is similar to something like SMX where marketers meet in person at an actual online marketing and search conference. I'm Canberra based and like the idea of a place to connect with fellow Aussie marketers an entrepreneurs as I'm currently looking to connect with an Aussie Programmer/Web Developer for my next project. It would make the task much easier if there was an Aussie-based place to make those types of connections.
