Local Event: So who would like to Meet our Lovely Bev Clement in Swansea on 21st July 09?

Hi Everyone,

Bev Clement is coming to Swansea, South Wales in the next week or so (Date and time to be confirmed soon).

She and I are arranging to have an informal meet-up to put faces to names and it would be great to see others there too, so if you think you can make it, please pm me or post your interest here and keep an eye on the thread, I will post the date, time and place as soon as I can.

There is no intention at this time to be any cost involved, other than your own in getting here, we will most likely meet in one of Swansea's great hotel bars.

I am looking forward to meeting Bev (she was one of the first warriors to greet me when I joined) - I love her posts and she has always been a great help to me

Looking forward to meeting a lot of you guys too.

Just heard from Bev and the proposed days are Tues 21st, Wed 22nd and Thurs 23rd July.

I will send out pm's later when I get back (have to go out for a few hours) but if anyone reading this thread could put those dates in preferred order that would be good.

Hi Sue,

I absolutely can't make Wednesday 22nd July for personal reasons, so that's out for me.

As far as Tuesday 21st & Thursday 23rd are concerned then they're pretty-much the same for me, although my preference would be for an event that starts around lunch-time and finishes early-mid evening (rather than late) as it's a 3 hour drive each way for me.

Not sure how that fits with your plans and/or Bev's obviously though.

21st will be OK for me, and I agree afternoon/early evening is good especially if people are travelling.

If there aren't going to be many people, maybe we can postpone it and do it later in the year or early next year as we hope to be back here by then.

Bev, it's a handful of people at the moment as we didn't have much time to organise anything but I do think it would be great to meet-up anyway (because you will be here anyway) and perhaps we can all discuss a larger event for when you come back again, perhaps with speakers/presentations/tutorials, that kind of thing, perhaps by you and others (thinking Andrew here for his exdpertise in offline) and that would give me plenty of time to "advertise" the event.

Martin, great glad you can make it as well. The location is further up this thread if you read back, link to hotel and link to google map and yes a Taxi driver will easily find this hotel (perhaps you could stay at it if you are considering that). I will be posting the proper details later today though as well.

I also know that Elaine really wants to attend and is looking forward to it (however, she had a couple of issues come up end of last week but she is going to try and resolve those so she can be there).

Just spoken with Elaine and she confirmed she will be there also, so Elaine and I will be there for 12.30 and people can just arrive as and when (within reason LOL), that should make it easier for all concerned with all the various travel arrangments.

Sue, it's in my diary now so unless something goes wrong I'll be there on Tuesday. Exact arrival time depends on traffic, but I'm targeting 12-12:30ish.

I'm flattered at the suggestion of speaking sometime in the future, thank you, but I think you're doing yourself a dis-service, Sue, by not assuming that you can teach us all something too. You're often giving good advice both here and on LBB, so I'm sure you could teach us something. And having been on one of Bev's mailing lists, I for one would be happy to listen to her speak.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to meeting everybody next Tuesday 21/7.

Rob & I are now in Swansea. We took the train from Pad to Swansea, and were surprised at how good the train is. We ended up in 1st class, it was 2 pounds more per ticket. But, Pad has a lounge which has free drinks and food, and you also get free drinks and snacks on the train. Amazing, how much is a cup of coffee?

We will be there tomorrow, and glad you like my newsletter Andrew.
