BarCamp Scotland 2009

Following the success of the first two BarCamp Scotlands in 2007 and 2008, the 2009 event will be held in the School of Informatics on Saturday, 14 March 2009.

'BarCamp' is an open environment of learning, sharing and presenting. The wider technology community of Scotland is invited. The event will be packed with some of the top developers, designers, bloggers, entrepreneurs, researchers, students and others from around Scotland and the UK.

This event is sponsored by the School of Informatics, Informatics Ventures, and the Edinburgh-Stanford Link. The event is free to attend and the wider Scottish community is invited. This year's special guest from Silicon Valley is Mike Masnick, founder of Techdirt and Floor 64. Also, a special ceremony will mark the launch of Entrepredia, a wiki-based knowledge bank for entrepreneurship developed by the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh.

More information is available on the BarCamp Scotland website.

What is 'BarCamp'?
BarCamp' is an international network of 'unconferences', open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants, focusing on early-stage web applications and related open source technologies and social protocols. The first 'BarCamp' was held in Palo Alto, California, from August 19-21, 2005, in the offices of Socialtext. Since then, the 'BarCamp' concept has spread across America, Europe and Asia. This is the third annual BarCamp for the whole of Scotland.
