Quit being such a miser with your subject line. Extra characters don't cost you money.

Look down the listing of topics. Some are using the full capability of the subject line, and that's a good thing. See, many Warriors who don't hang out here for hours at a time (I just pop in for 5-10 minutes to see what's up), quickly scan down to see what discussion we want to get involved in, or where we could lend a quick hand.

I'm sorry, but a subject line like "Hi" does not get my attention. No idea of what's inside, or if it's worth clicking to see.

Create a subject line that gets attention. Like "Need feedback on my new sales page" or "Any ideas on how to monetize my video of my drunk Uncle falling into a vat of Jello?"

Maybe they are trying to build suspense and get you thinking about their posts?

No, in all seriousness, you are correct. I am, like you, a scanner of the forum. I come here as I want to get invovled but do not have time to meticulously scour posts with non descript titles.

I mean, would you write an article for an article directory with a similar non-descript title?

If they all had eye catching headlines, think how much longer you'd have to stay in order to read all the posts.

The short, uninteresting headlines are doing you a favour - more time spent working, less time spent on the forum.

And I think it's mean of you to exploit your poor uncle - who clearly has problems that you should be addressing rather than subjecting him to public ridicule

    Great one kevin

Tittles and subject lines do work wonders.
An explanatory subject line will draw attention, interest and curiousity.
    Thanks for this

Welcome to the new era of long subject lines...I say write a 'book' in your title!

      Inquiring minds want to know!

How about this favorite: "Can you help?"

Help what? What help? Want money? Want free services? Want lifetime mentoring at no cost? Want a bone marrow donor?

Folks, if you need specific help, specify it in the subject line, please. Otherwise, my immediate reaction to "can you help?" will be, "No".

Kevin, if we had "How the Hamsters put more money into my bank account, click here to find out how" would that interest you

It really doesn't bother me one way or the other.I just hover over the subject line for a second and it pops up the first few lines of the post. I use that feature for almost every post - regardless of subject line length. That prevents me from clicking on the longer subject lines that are deceiving.

By the way, it's the misleading or "clever" subject lines that irritate me the most; don't matter if they're 2 characters or 100.

    All the best,
    Michael

I myself was guilty of doing this at first!....Of course, before Warrior Forum, I was doing a lot of eBay selling, and over there they really limit the characters in your titles! Old habits die hard!

I just noticed recently when I was filling out a title for a new thread that the title could go further than the space given in the 'fill in the blank' given to type the title for the new thread.
I'm sure that was clear. ha ha.
In other words, I discovered the title could be longer than I originally thought.

Titles are more important than some realize, I've really had to work on making mine more descriptive.

Great point. Like a good article headline, it's the most important part of your effort. Thanks for the reminder.
