Hey everyone, I need to create a custom email address, and I had a suggestion to use a disposable one. Can someone explain what it is and how it works? Thx

A "disposable" one is simply creating any email account through somewhere like Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc. and not using it as your primary address. People predominantly use them when applying for freebie offers, or if anticipating junk mail.

So it is not a custom one?

A custom one is simply an email address that's personalised with your own domain - as opposed to a third-party domain.

        For example. . . joebloggsatabcplumbing.com or dandareatdandare.net

        Third-party examples . . . joebloggatgmail.com or dandareathotmail.com

You could easily create an email forwarder to any email address (even Gmail), via your hosting's cPanel. And, the result will be far more professional than using a temporary address from a third party provider.

A disposable email address is a "throw-away" email address. You can create these yourself by setting up temporary emails in your cpanel (if you have hosting) and then deleting them. Or you can search for third party disposable email providers through your favorite search engine.

I have a "disposable" email just for my junk mail as well. When i'm doing my marketing I always use custom emails and setup a forward to the email I check the most. That way I don't miss an important email.

If you need custom email address like youatyourcompany the best option is Google Apps, it's a paid service though. But I can help you if you don't want to pay monthly fees, I have plenty domains with grandfathered Google Apps account which is free to use. You can add your own domains to the account and create custom email with it.
