Online Income - Self Employment / Working for Others

Hi Warriors!

As I continue my search for online income (my websites are now earning me a steady $10 per week - it's better than nothing!), an interesting thought struck me:

Why are all online income opportunities SELF-Employment?

Every time I research money making methods online I am bombarded with affiliate marketing, CPA, adsense, product creation, etc. While all these methods have their advantages, and I'm sure have made many people very rich, where are all the employment opportunities? You know, the old fashioned, get paid $X per hour.

Whilst I could preach the merits of self employment for days (by far the best lifestyle if done correctly), most business require time and money to set up.

At the moment, my dream is simple, earn enough per day with a laptop and internet connection to cover my costs so that I can explore our beautiful planet. (I'll do the getting rich thing later )

Does anyone know of any way to find legitimate employment opportunities online?

I'm fairly intelligent, quite good at articulation type stuff and a generally nice friendly guy (with a terrible sense of humor ). I'm happy to work long hours and seven day weeks, and I'm just trying to earn around $50 per day.

If anyone has any ideas, post them in this thread. I'm sure most newbies would be delighted to know that there are definite ways to earn money online. (Of course, if it's a really good job PM me, I don't need the competition )

I'm not interested in get rich quick schemes.

It's not about money. It's about FREEDOM.

Thank you!

That is such a useful link, thank you for posting it. I guess I was going to suggest Elance but it is bidding for jobs and they can be sparse at times, I know.

    Enjoy the journey.

    Adam:

Not trying to dash your dreams of a work at home job - but why limit yourself with a "job". It stands for Just Over Broke. If you have skills, market them and do "outsource work" through this forum - such as... article writing, sales letters, website design, web marketing, etc...

You'll make a ton more money - and if you're worth your salt at anything word will quickly spread on this forum through the positive feedback and you'll start to get paid some real dough.

It's ok to have a job - but I hate to see you limit yourself and talent with the hourly pay mentality. It is a dead end road.

If I would have listened to my parents and friends who told me I was crazy 15 years ago for quitting my job - I wouldn't now be earning a 6 fig. income.

Think big - work big - attract big

like Steve it's unfortunate that it's many times the ones closest to us who will be negative towards our belief do to their fear.

Don't get a job start blog about a passion of yours, it's amazing what a passion can become and how much it can earn and the opportunities that present themselves down the road for even more income.

    Hey atdavidson,

If you are looking for freedom, than $/hour
    basis is not for you.

It is just like working 9 to 5 only from home. Internet
Markeing is not about that - it is about becoming free and indipendent.

And in order to do that, you'll have to learn to
    proper on your own.

No offense, but how much freedom can $50 a day get you? Even though you're willing to work long hours 7 days a week you're only talking about $18,000 a year. With that kind of work ethic you can do a lot better than that!

Like what many says, you'll be contradicing yourself by saying you wish to obtain a job with freedom.

Time in our world is equivalent to money..and a job is actually stealing your time away!

..Unless you really enjoy your work(which is very possible).

Why not spend the time you have now to scale up your $10/week websites!

Here's two companies that are call-centers
that hire homebased workers. If you don't
mind phone work, this is something you
could do and it's pretty easy.

You'll need a second phone line, a headset
and a quiet place in your home where you
      won't be disturbed.

Thanks to everyone for their replies, and I completely agree with all of you (Steve: love the "Just over broke" acronym )!

When it comes to working for others for an hourly pay I've always believed you'd never earn what you're worth. The boss will charge the customer what you're worth and you get a percentage of that.

Imagine you are lying on your deathbed, dying of an incurable disease. As you take your last breath the doctor leans over and whispers

"How would you like another hour of life? You would be as fit and healthy as you once were, free to do anything you like..."

How much would you pay? How much money for that one hour of life? Can you even put a figure on it? So why sell your time for a measly $10 per hour?

The answer for me is geography. I want to explore. I'm a simple chap, very happy, and I love to travel. All I dream of is to sling a backpack over my shoulder jump on my motorbike and ride into the sunset. The internet gives me a chance to realise that dream.

I could stay home and save money - but that takes time and I'm impatient (because I'm dying)...
I could stay home and build my internet business - but that takes time and I'm impatient (because I'm dying)...
I could find a way to achieve the moderate income I require using a laptop and an internet connection. Now I'm free to roam and explore!

Of course I'd love to be rich, of course I'd love a multi-million dollar business, and later (if I have time) I'll get one.

Right now, I'm looking for some secure income, so I can travel. Then I will be rich, because there are two ways to be rich: One is to have everything you want, the other is to want everything you have...

atdavidson if you are looking for writing gigs then take a quick look at Demand Studio. After an application process where you must submit work and be approved, you can take the jobs that are available. I have a friend who uses them on occasion and likes the work she gets.
