blog comments -- facebook or wordpress?

I just created a new wordpress blog using the optimize press theme.

I had a problem with spam comments on a previous blog and someone on this forum suggested that we use the facebook comments feature instead of the wordpress comments.

I have noticed however that all the popular blogs in my niche use wordpress comments and none of them use facebook comments, so what do you guys suggest I do?

I would rather make it easier for my readers to get involved and comment, even if I have to manually delete spam messages, do you think it will cut back on the amount of comments if I enable the facebook only feature?

It will definitely cut back on the amount of comments if you use fb comments. I recommend sticking to wordpress comments and use an anti-spam plugin such as Akismet. That should do the trick.

Remember, this is your business and you shouldn't rely on the opinions of others to run the show.

  Do you think that it would increase traffic to my blog if someone makes a comment on the facebook system, it shows up on his facebook profile and his friends with like interests see it?

The only advantage I see is FB comments can also be posted into fb.

have you consider livefyre ? thats better than wordpress or fb comment in my opinion.

  I just set up WP comments with the Askimet plug-in, so we'll see how it works . . .
