Some registrars (e.g. Namecheap) include a year's free "whois privacy protection" with the domain-name, when you register it.

I always register mine with privacy protection, but it's still not an absolute guarantee of privacy. Someone determined enough can sometimes find out who really owns a domain. (They still shouldn't be able to find your address, though, if you use something like a "business address", or whatever, as many people do for their autresponder emails anyway.)

I remember you mention is a bit "troublesome" to get a legal valid business address for autorepsonder..

It varies from country to country, I think. Over here (UK) it's very easy. For this purpose, you probably don't need one anyway, really, if you buy from somewhere like Namecheap that includes a year's free privacy protection? After that it's only $2/$3 per year, or something anyway - it's not worth worrying about, really.

Mine (Arvixe) offers free whois privacy protection. All you have to do is select the option.
